This is about slowing the progression of the mass majority of the player base to increase the Return on Invested Capital. After all, gaming assets don't just create themselves.

Actual business decisions revolve around more arcane but boring concepts like Return on Capital, Return on Equity, Debt/Equity ratios, Dividend Yields, and very important questions like "When do my stock options vest?" No one gives a shit about the current meta in executive boardroom meetings.

Unfortunately, based on history, that's not how GGG works. They announce an over-the-top nerf. Players complain. GGG doesn't care. Nerf goes through as stated. Builds die. End of story. They really just don't care.

Maybe because these were not balance changes, but forced meta shifts, just like this one? Just a theory.

I want to ask you:
What the difference between LIFE and ES builds with instant leech?
NONE except that ES pool is higher which helps to withstand hard blows (ELEMENTAL ONLY)! (Life/Armour will mitigate physical damage, while Life/Evasion gives evasion to all attack types)!
But you have to remember that ES builds sacrifices nodes/item slots/flasks slots to counter STUN/FREEZE/etc. which come non stop on red maps while life based have better in this aspect (the more life the better)!

If ES as you say will be CUT DOWN at high-end levels SO WHY YOU REMOVING INSTANT LEECH FOR ES?
Instead of balancing ES values you CUT DOWN builds VARIETY.

WHY THERE CAN'T BE ES INSTANT LEECH BUILDS?
I just lol'ed when I saw the changes. Why not just remove ES from the game? I bet you guys at GGG will feel more relieved :)

These kind of changes will absolutely kill build variety, which imho POE has to offer as a distinctive advantage over its alternatives. If this is the case, I'd return to D3 :D, as there will be no advantage of this game over that. At least I wont face random DC's in the middle of end content.

Effin this. Just f***ing instance crashed during shaper phase 3, adds stage, second time it instance crashed under exact same conditions... Can you guys over there spend resources on fixing your server/instance stability PLEASE?

Current estimates are that a build that balances offense and defense and is well-geared can reach around 15,000 Energy Shield.

Maybe you mistyped? Maybe you wanted write TOP?!
Who will even craft this type of items? When you can buy old versions!

Also won't be there a issues with Tier scaling? If you reduce T1 by 33% but lower Tier less? Won't they overlap?

15k ES VS 9k Life(With armor/evasion)!

Vaal Pact
This keystone will no longer affect Energy Shield in any way. It will only apply to Life Leeched. This is because the higher effective health pool provided by Energy Shield trivialized some encounters where Vaal Pact let you restore all of your pool in under a second, if your damage was sufficient.

So are you saying that SOME ENCOUNTERS should ONE-SHOOT YOU, even when you have TOP gear and use tactics?!

Because THERE ARE NO DIFFERENCE IN INSTANT AMOUNT OF LEECH for ES/Life builds!
It is based on damage output, not your effective health pool!

If monster can't kill you in one go, you will leech health pool back, NO DIFFERENCE LIFE/ES Builds!
You already reduce ES amount players can have, WHY RIP ES-leech builds?

If there are problem with too high ES pool then reduce it to reasonable values!
Why cut down Vaal Pact for ES ONLY?
