Did you compare your brutality approach to using Grip of the Council + Hatred that I'm showing? I'm fairly certain that it skyrockets the dmg, even more so vs bosses thanks to EE?

It's very important that your Ball Lightning or as I prefer: Orb of Storms is ONLY dealing lightning dmg so if you have mods on your gear granting fire or cold dmg to spells it will not work and you should spec out of EE till you've changed those pieces.

It's a nice helmet, specially for TV's cause Burning Damage doesn't do much at all for Solar Guards.
The links are not correct, Elemental Damage with Attacks doesn't work cause they are spell casters, not attackers. You can start with changing Elemental Focus for Controlled Destruction (then the burning helps SLIGHTLY).
Change the Ele dmg with atks to Spell Echo which is a must-have for them. (Just remember to unsocket Spell Echo when you summon them and then re-apply the gem after you've summoned them :) )

7. Regarding this Mistress of Sacrifice or Commander of Darkness? Solo softcore. Does the damage boost affect our winions?

8. I have a bit of downtime right now when clearing maps as I have to wait for my skellies/zombies/spectres to clear the packs. Is this normal?

Which leads me to my last point
9. Is this the reason why you run EE? How does it work out? What do I have to do? How does it boost our damage? I saw it mentioned in the last few pages but I can't make sense of it. Do we spam 1 spell for our spectres to do the bonus damage? Also I'm quite limited on sockets right now so I honestly have no clue where to fit it even if I wanted. Maybe could you elaborate on this more in the guide itself?

@UnseenSpectacle seem to have covered you already, but I'll give my cents as well:

1) Melee with SGs are my prefered choice.

2) Switching is just support gems and 2 threshold jewels goes away.

3) Doesn't matter what you put in the Baron when you switch, when you get Soul Weaver ascendancy you wanna get a 4L Spectre setup and keep SRS in the helmet till you get to Merc lab and get the Bone Sculptor in which case they will replace the SRS. You can either keep the Baron helmet for strength stacking or you drop it for an elder helmet and work your way to the higher budget version which is generally better and doesn't cost that much more tbh.

4) Zombies are a great addition to the build for new summoner players, I remove them early or don't use them at all due to how much I've played summoners and don't feel the need for their added safety, specially as I play overly-agressively with the build as well.

5) He needs to be lvl 18/19+ to survive, even then you gota remove him vs bosses like Piety in Malformation and t15/16+ bosses. He should survive Shaper if you don't screw up.

6) You can chose to run either of them, I prefer CoD after the MoS nerf.

7) Negative, the dmg must specifically state that it affects minions otherwise it wont.

8) Hence why we use Solar Guards on top of the skellies which are there to help the clearing whilst the melee skellies demolishes bosses.

9) The EE with lightning dmg from Ball Lightning or as I prefer: Orb of Storms makes bosses (which is where it's generally used) lose res vs Cold & Fire which significantly increases the dmg done by our minions :)
Minions do not proc EE as described in the Generic Summoner Mechanic Guide linked at the top of the guide!
It's not a must nor a need to have but it makes bosses melt even faster than ever.

Okay, I really appologize but I watched the video and I've been reading the guide through and through but I wanted to see if I got this right, Melee skeletons, are better boss dmg, worse clearing, mages are opposite, however, melee are better at clearing, than mages are at boss damage?
I've never been one to worry about clearspeed, its not my style to speed through I like to take my time to pick stuff up, so I am leveling the melee skellies way currently.
Also, I should wait til after merc lab before I start using skeletons, isnt that kinda... boring? To level all that time with srs or is it ok?
Thanks for the response but I feel as if I am missing something. It also made me think of a couple more questions. I know you suggest brightbeak but that isn't an option for me since I play on xbox. Faster shield charge = more desync and a signed death warrant.

When I put your high budget build into PoB and compared a scourge to a severed in sleep, scourge still came out as more dps. Am I doing something wrong? Is PoB accounting for the poison damage from severed or the 70% minion damage from scourge? Is the poison damage from severed beat 40% more minion damage and 15% att spd from scourge?


I thought about getting united in dream, dropping aspect of the avian, and running the envy buff instead with hatred. Would this be a significant damage increase? I could pick up some reduced mana reserved and have enough mana.

Alright, what would be the perfect helmet for a SG set-up, really been liking it alot, that i sold my full RF to learn the summoners way :P

no budget for real, summoners are dirt cheap and efficient !


also, are those the BIS joolz with 3 mods ? sniped them pretty cheap last night

45+ life / 20% increased damamge minion / 7 attack speed when a kill happen or whatever


Helmet idea:

for SG ofc, 20 minion damage / 20 conc effect on a bone helmet ? would that be the best helmet possible ?

Loving the build thus far, but I'm finding the guide to be somewhat confusing. I think I'm doing a fair enough job sorting it out as I go tho. I was wondering if anyone w/ experience might take a look at my current setup and let me know if I'm headed in the right direction?

I just picked up my second ascendancy (Bone Sculptor) and find that I'm not even needing SRS anymore. Is it time to switch to Spectres, or is that only viable after picking up Soul Weaver? Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for taking the time to share the build and guide. (Sorry for any horribly noobish questions, fairly new player)

By the sound of it I'm about as new as you are, but I did the same, decided to try out pure skeletons right as I got to act 8, never had any skill that did as much dmg as them alone :D
I'm thinking that I'm gonna attempt to leave my srs behind now and get spectres up and such

Your understanding of the relative weaknessses of melee vs. mage skeles is correct.

You also can switch over to skeles very early if your gear allows. I am pretty sure I was running them from Act 4-5 onward because I was leveling with a Tabula. Getting Bone Sculptor felt great along with the From Dust jewel.

I played the build very aggressively since I am in SC and swapped out of SRS and over to skeletons very early. You can pick up Spectres pretty early if you feel like it. I found Frost Sentinels in A8 were pretty nice for their freeze when i felt I was a bit squishy. Ultimately i switched to Solar Guards and haven't looked back. They were usable before Merciless lab and only got better when I picked up the ascendancy nodes. So, if you are in SC, try it out and see how it feels for you. I am pretty sure Ghazzy sticks with SRS for so long because the whole HC mentality is more cautious since one mistake ends your run.
I'm about to do merc lab, Should I not use Animate guardian in lab, I'm concerned about the traps and all that annoying stuff that could kill it.
