it neatly gets around the old conundrum that most traditional summoners had (ie once your minions died you were harmless).

same reason why pre ai change srs was so good vs bosses .

Going to have some fun with this next weekend! Im thinking about working poison into the build, with maybe things like blasphemy-vulnerability, vis mortis or even knitted horrors and bloodlust. Any thoughts on that?
so possible downsides to your thoughts

1 poison is a green slot so not as easy to hot swap it out with anything , where as the current set up ghazzy has could hot swap a bunch of things.


blasphemy vulnerability wont work that well here because of how skeletons work mechanically. ie they are independent of you . thus having to stay near their target to curse them can be seen as squandering one of the primary perks of skeletons. not saying you cant do it though.

also there tends to be 3 auras ahead of blasphemy that take priority.

discipline for ehp and mana hatred for the damage scaling and .. AA for physical mitigation. you could sac hatred for blasphemy i suppose but keep in mind that if you dont spec heavy heavy into curses then there is a good chance hatred will be better than vulnerability.

vismortis hurts your hp. keep in mind that es is not as valuable as life in the context of a mom build.

if you have 5k life .. only 1.5k ish es is actually able to protect you. and that number is much lower the less hp you got.

(kind of makes me sad that mom is only 30%)
Well, I am using Poison in my links atm for the sake of single target DPS, added fire would be a better option for map clearing tbh since the single target DPS is stupid enough. So honestly, it's a matter of taste.

Regarding Blasphemy, it's a hell naw on that one. Curse-Auras are not affected by Commander of Darkness making them rather shit in comparison. We have to use Discipline for defensive reasons, we have to use Hatred as that is the absolute biggest damage providing aura for 95% of all physical damage dealing minions. And the only thing we could drop is Purity of Elements which is bringing down our budget insanely as well as making our minions resistance caped on all resistances. The lvl 1 clarity is not something you'd want to switch nor would it benefit you to remove that small reservation.
Investing into more aura nodes is more or less impossible to maintain an effecient build with if you chose to.

When it comes to spectres, you have the possibility of adding higher linked spectres via your chest piece for damage dealing spectres which can be combined by bringing in Soul Weaver.
A few problems will reveal themselves with that option;

1) Loss of Spirit Eater for Soul Weaver, drops cast speed and effeciency but gain damage from spectres
2) Socket starvation
3) Not really a skelly build once you get Soul Weaver and start focusing on spectres
4) Spectres has a "max minion speed cap" mod on the gem making the Queen's item completely useless for them specifically if you exclude the extra spectre gain
5) Spectres added makes Bones of Ullr & Vis Mortis attractive items, this would make gearing a lot more expensive as it would be harder to achieve the stats we need, not to mention a lower clear speed due to low movement speed on the boots compared to rare items.
6) Bloodlust is a horrible gem to use for more or less all minions, we have tons of options that gives us "more" damage modifiers that doesn't require an external debuff to be placed upon the enemies before it starts benefiting your playstyle.

Didnt think about Blasphemy not being an aura for Commander, and good points on why the build should keep to skellies more or less.

Will try to build a more defensive summoner for a change, i tend to pick up Charisma for more aura choices and spend them offensively with things like Wrath and Anger. Mightn't need any of that any more what with all the ascendancy nodes, gem buffs and new items over the years.
hey ghazzy have you ever sandboxed how practical

would be as an alternative to going Zo?

it gets three uses and not having zo on all the time could make it easier for the build to run say lab
not to mention you would save a handful of passives

but obviously you lose a flask slot which can suck .

It's a nice idea, I use it for my low life summon builds to avoid speccing ZO, but for a build that relies on the ES regen I would not use it, ever. Specially not for this build which drains mana(ES) insanely upon casting.
