Standard rules for league events apply. Please click this link if this is your first race event.
A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

Dead characters will still receive reward points.

Active Mods
The following league mods are active during this event:
  • Ancestral: All areas except towns have enemy totems spread across the zone that grant benefits to your enemies and attempt to kill you.
  • Arctic: All areas other than towns contain drifting areas of cold damage.
  • Fixed Seed: All instances of a given area have the same area layout, for all players. Multiple Race Events will regularly have the same seed. That is, the instance area layouts will be same in all the races of a fixed seed set. This includes all Signature events.
  • Headhunter: When you kill a rare monster, you gain all its mods for 20 seconds. Every monster pack has a rare monster (even the Twilight Strand). This race type is voided.
  • Onslaught: Monsters have 20% increased Attack, Cast and Movement Speed.

A summary of Time based events:

Time based events are designed to create a competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their ability to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Malachai, The Nightmare, located in The Harvest.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective will still be counted for receiving reward points.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Oh. I just realized that this race has awkward mods. Another race which will be a torture to play.
Only 5 hours as well with those mods. Tricky for sure! I believe the last race that had Artic winds was a little challenging, and we had 24 hours. I'm sure though it will be a breeze for some, hehe. See what I did there. :P

No Lifesprigguy, it's gonna be awesome! One of those mods is Headhunter!
why the fuck would i spend a few hours on this when there is basically the same reward compared to the much shorter races? so much time investment with very little reward

In the end, that can be true for a great part of the players striving for just a few points, in a casual way. Not quite the same if you're trying to achieve the last prize's tiers where there's a limit to how many points you can get throughout the season; they are different types within the same competition, some players might dwell better at short races, where there might be a few with a gameplay more suitable for longer races -and even- outside act's, specific starts, etc.
