Mechanical Questions Thread
I'm playing "Toxic rain" with "High-impact Mine support gem".
But someone says that 'Toxic rain's DOT' can't be influenced by chance to deal double damage, like "High-impact Mine". Actually, 96% of toxic miners in ninja use "Blast chain mine support" and only 4% of them use "High-impact Mine" I really wonder it. Is that really work? or not? How about the nodes like 'Fangs of the Viper" or made by Timeless jewels? |

" Yes it's true. If you look at the high-impact mine support wording: "Each Mine from Supported Skills applies 2% chance to deal Double Damage to HITS against Enemies near it, up to a maximum of 100%" DOT's do not hit. only aspects of the skills that hit are affected by this bonus. As for fangs of the viper, if you are referring to the chaos damage increase, that will increase the damage of TR's DOT. Chaos DOT is affected by Damage, Damage over Time, chaos damage (and mine damage if you are using it as a mine). Not sure what you mean by nodes like Timeless Jewels. |

I'm curious about these 5 little crests on the map device ui.
I get you can pick one to have a master appear in the instance, but what do the numbers represent? Is it costing me something each time I use it? Thx. |
|
" Hello there. Each number represents the quantity of available missions per white|yellow|red map. It just gets decremented each time you use one, and doesn't cost anything else. PLEASE QUOTE ME IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A REPLY

Does anyone know how the new unique jewel, The Interrogation, and the notable it grants, Secret of Suffering, works with Starforge? Since Starforge makes your physical damage shock, does the jewel changes the shocks it causes?

Hello ,
I have a body armor with cyclone and a critical chance support gem (among others)linked to it. I also have a Herald of Ice in headgear and a free linked socket to it. I was thinking of removing the critical support gem from body armor and socket it in head gear with Herald of Ice, freeing that socket for another support gem. I tried it and saw that Herald of Ice reserves more mana now Does it work actually work this way? Will Cyclone get the increased critical chance from the support gem via the aura gem? |

DAMAGE TAKEN AND ELEMENTAL/IGNITE PROLIF
Hi there. have a question regarding ignites etc, relative to damage taken; If you ignite an enemy with a skill, whilst said enemy is under the effect of an 'increased damage taken' effect (a brand in my case), would the ignite proliferation spread the ignite damage before or after the increase? a) assuming the damage taken only affects the hit (and in turn the ignite?): - initial damage - damage taken increase - final damage - proliferates or b): - initial damage - proliferates - damage taken increase - final damage Going by the wiki (https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Receiving_damage0/), it doesn't mention when damage over time is introduced, so im presuming its introduced after the final hit, with the DoT being relative to the hit after mitigation. If order 'a' is the case you would be able to double dip on increases to damage taken; if 2 monsters stand within prolif range, both with '10% increased damage taken', ignite on the first enemy is calculated: 100 dps DoT Damage* 1.1 110 dps DoT -then prolifs after damage increase and applies to enemy 2 110 dps Dot Damage* 1.1 121 dps DoT I'm presuming order 'b' is the case, and the ignite prolifs somewhere inbetween "4.damage mitigation" & "5.damage taken", otherwise it ignores whether the damage has been mitigated, evaded etc (it ignores them but cant apply a DoT if no hit is calculated?). The wiki also states that elemental prolif "makes hits apply status ailment debuffs as auras to targets; these debuff auras have the same effects and durations as the original debuffs". One would presume this meant proliferated ailments are spread on the aura before reductions/mitigations, calculating seperately from eachother. So, relative to my brand build, if i attach an 'Armageddon Brand' linked with ignite prolif to an enemy with high resistance, would the surrounding enemies take ignite damage relavant to what the hit would have been (before reductions), rather than the actual hit after reductions? basically If a target takes a proliferated ignite/aura after calculations, i could apply a huge ignite to a low res target, which would mirror to a high res target and ignore their resistances. However, if the proliferated ignite does undergo another damage check, i can double dip on a 'damage taken' increase and theoretically with 2 targets having -100% resistances and 50% increased damage taken, i would scope an entirely different dimension of damage... sorry for the wall but its hurting my brain and the wiki doesnt mention proliferation timing. basically need clariification on: Elemental proliferation is a modifier that makes hits apply status ailment debuffs as auras to targets; these debuff auras have the same effects and durations as the original debuffs. Damage over Time generally follows the same principle, however this damage source doesn't hit which means that it ignores evasion, damage shifts, armour and other mechanics that requires a hit. ref: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Elemental_proliferation https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Receiving_damage thanks in advance, Mark. |
