Mechanical Questions Thread

Hey guys, I played toxic rain quite a bit and have tested it albeit not conclusively.

Toxic rain has 3 damage parts

1) X% of weapon damage when the arrows land

2) xxx chaos dmg per second for 1 second base, applied in a radius around the spores placed where the arrows land

3) ??? Explosion damage when the spores expired. There is no data on what this number is.

1) is based on weapon dmg

2) and 3?) Are based on skill gem lvl.


Toxic rain currently is very strong as the dots applied by spores stack with one another, letting us stack more dots with attack speed and increased duration.

I'm building a Guardian summoner with smite, and was thinking about offhanding a The Scourge as a stat stick. But I've been told that both the trigger summon and the on hit minion damage boost will not work since Smite can't use claws.

So I wonder.
Using Smite with The Scourge in off hand as a stat stick...
...will the triggered summon on kill work?
...will the on hit minion damage work?

I've got an Ancestral Warchief Berserker, and I've just noticed something weird in the wording. The ascendancy Crave the slaugher says: Gain 1 Rage when YOU kill an enemy. I'm not killing enemies, my totems are killing them, and I'm gaining Rage anyway. Shouldn't it be renamed to something like: Gain 1 Rage when an enemy is slain? Though I honestly prefer to disable Rage gain for Ancestral Warchief, because it's hard to counter the degen.
Just checking, but all three parts of Ngamahu, Flame's Advance apply to your totems as well, correct?

It's tough to say without looking at your characters, but there has been a very old and very stubborn bug revolving around kills caused by Damage over Time that was inflicted by non-player entities (i.e. traps, totems, mines, minions). Therefore if your Warchief is inflicting Damage over Time and that Damage over Time is killing enemies, the kill is assigned to your character.

Try removing any source of damage over time that your Warchief may be inflicting (you can test with Brutality + Bloodlust to be sure) and it should stop you from gaining Rage from Warchief kills.

The Retch's leech damage is considered reflected damage. This means nothing scales its damage up. However, up until this league there's never been a source of +% Global Damage. The Grey Spire has "300% Increased Global Damage". Does this affect the retch's reflected damage?
Hello Mark, I did have a question. recently in the Delve league, I have come across a bestiary node to travel to through blowing up a fractured wall. I finished the encounter, but I received nothing from it. When I killed the Animalistic enemies in there, the only thing that was visible was a green bestiary icon on my mini map. tried Identifying all items that dropped but didn't find anything at all that was Bestiary related. Not sure if this is a bug, intended, or if I am mechanically doing something wrong. I had already emailed support and they referred me to this thread. If I could get some feedback to this, would be greatly appreciated.

DoT like bleeding? I guess I do Shield Charge through mobs, make them bleed, and they get assigned to me after they get killed by my totems.

I think I'll have to respec life nodes to regen nodes + endurance charges to counter the degen until GGG realizes they have to remove this stupid mechanic from the game.
