Ground Slam

yes please fix this, it leaves me wondering what to use for aoe as a mace+shield tank since groundslam is useless when you are surounded by small melee mobs

It already is. It's much closer to your second picture. it's still a full arc, where you've drawing it with the point missing, but that arc starts from behind the player, not in front of them.


My biggest issue with ground slam is that it is practically impossible to hit a mob attacking you in melee range, without directly clicking the mob or moving backwards to create space. Your post implies this shouldn't be an issue, but in my experience, it's a big issue.

I don't mind a narrow aoe at the start of ground slam -- it is a different skill than cleave, or freeze pulse. However, I don't think it's too much to ask for the width of the aoe directly in front to at least be as wide as my character is.

the problem you are having hiting melee mobs is slight dysync. if you /oos you will see you are actually standing in a slightly different location.

you either have to spam /oos or just move back before targeting them to make sure you will hit them.

ofc this is still really annoying....

You can see that just by chopping the tip off the range of GS has been shortened, providing a downside to offset the ability to hit more enemies closer to you.


I really liked your illustrations. To take it a step further in a direction I'd really like to see, I made the following graphic. Not only do I want ground slam to slightly increase its width at the point of impact, but why not add a small radius at the impact that covers a small circle around his front, as at right:


my only gripe with ground slam is that it often misses enemies standing close just like others have reported. this is a great suggestion for this skill. perhaps even introduce a gem that will create aoe damage around the player?

1. New update to ground slam seems to be bugged, Im using an attack speed based ground slam Ranger with 7.3 attacks pr second with multistrike+faster attacks and it seems i can now stand face to face with a monster and get off almost 6 attacks before the wave reaches the first target I mean my weapon is basically hitting the monster 6 times before the wave reaches it lol.
Shouldent it be more of a wave that slows as it progresses rather then starting with minimum speed?(please make the wave travle fast at first and slow down as it progress to a further destination.)

2. If the animation would display with the wave of damage it would deffintly be alot more predictable ;P.(Please make the animation follow the wave of damage)

3. The duration it takes for the wave to reach a decent distance makes the skill completly ineffective. I mean i should be able to slam stun a roa just before it hits me especially with my crazy attack time, But it now seems that the roa would be able to charge, hit and almost get a third hit in before my ground slam had any effect. (Please decrease the duration it takes to travle from point A to B)

I'am not sure if it was intentionally, but the latest change to GS seems to have introduced a problem with targetting faster moving mobs.
For me it seems (not 200% sure though)that mobs that move into the cone of effect after the hit is done, won't take any damage, even when the groundwave has not passed them yet.
Maybe that has been so before aswell but we did'nt noticed it, because we could get in one or two more shockwaves before the mobs were at close range.

For me the 10% dmg boost does'nt make up for the loss of being able to hit faster moving targets from a distance, so its actually a essentually nerf.

maybe if the targetting/timing effect was'nt intended, is looked into and hopefully changed, then GS could be as usefull as it was before, if not: never mind, then i'll have to adapt i think ^^

my lvl 82 groundslam mara is build around attackspeed,increased area of effect,stun threshold reduction an stun duration on the offensive side but now with the changed mechanic how the waves got send out and the dmg + effect arrives the monster its totaly screwd, why this needless change to GS? I had a funny and interesting gameplay with my build and now it sucks ass, ggg killed one more piece of the build variety cake

2-Handed GS Build here and have noticed many of the same issues raised above since patch. Whatever the changes that were made to GS have rendered it pretty useless. I was once able to stun enemies or at minimum hit them with a wave as they were incoming, this is no longer the case. Faster moving mobs seem to be moving right through my slams, attacking me 2-3 times before 1 shot of GS registers as a hit.

However the wave mechanic was changed for this skill has completely broken it. GGG, you guys need to look at this right away.
I have a 1 handed mace Ground Slammer who used to be very fun and quite safe. With update this character is nearly unplayable. I hope this is reversed. It's totally nuts. I wish I had a respec, because Ground Slam is dead now.
