Some thoughts on the "Complete three Endgame Grinds" for those going for 40/40:
Spoiler
100 Atziri Kills: Not recommended. Sacrifice sets cost about 7c each so it'll run 700c or so to buy all the sets. Moreover, Mortal Hope fragments sell for about 30c with full mortal sets going for a bit over 1ex. The much lower price of mortal fragments this league is likely due to the availability Guardian/Shaper drops. (Mortal Hope prices are relevant because if they were more expensive, you'd be better able to offset the cost of this challenge by selling the Hopes you accumulate during your Atziri kills). This challenge is not recommended because it's expensive, it will take a long time to complete, and whether you plan to purchase or farm fragments - it will take quite a bit of effort to get all the fragments you need. I've been purchasing fragments using a Public Party and by looking for other Public Parties. This method for purchasing works best but still takes awhile. The Apex of Sacrifice does counts as a "map" for purposes of possibly holding the essences you'll want to corrupt (Dread, Envy, Misery, Scorn); although you'll rarely see these essences, over 100 runs you should get a few essences to corrupt. Edit - changed post to note that Dread/Envy/Misery/Scorn can appear in Apex. 60 Izaro Runs: Tentatively recommended. Offerings go for 4c each so it's only 240c to buy all the Offerings you'll need. If you have a build that can rapidly and easily do uber lab runs, this challenge is definitely attractive. 30 Eater of Souls (T15 Core Map Boss) Kills: Tentatively recommended. Core maps cost about 20c each so 30 maps will run about 600c (half that if you can handle twinned). On the other hand, if your Atlas completion bonus is high, you will get some high end map drops while completing this challenge so long as you chisel and roll pack size and quantity on your maps. The downside of Core is that mob density is low. There won't be a lot of mobs to kill and so map drops will be lower than for other map layouts. 30 Cursed King (T15 Dark Forest Map Boss) Kills: Highly recommended. Dark Forest maps go for 18c each or lower. And the end boss is easily killed twinned for some builds (but might not be doable twinned for others). Assuming twinned kills, completion will cost 270c. The reason that some builds find this encounter easy, is that there's a 4-second or so dead time when you first come within range of the bosses before they'll attack you. This allows you to carefully choreograph your opening attack - lay down traps, put down maximum mines, carefully place totems around bosses, drop a decoy totem behind the bosses, etc. They'll remain in the starting place once they begin attacking your for maybe 8 to 10 seconds. During that time frame, do maximum DPS - pop flasks, Vaal gems, etc. With luck you'll kill one or both of them - worst case should be that they're both heavily injured. If you need to kill them off after the first phase of the attack, just run as fast as possible around the arena to spot them (recharge flasks on ads if you must). Take cover behind trees/stones when he does the wolf stream attacks and move out of the debuff that appear on the ground. Mob density in Dark Forest is nice too, owing to the large, open, outdoor map layout. So well-rolled maps should yield very good map drops. 12 Vaal Temple Boss Kills: No recommendation at this time. Vaal Temple maps run about 50c each, and each map contains 3 bosses. Completion of this challenge will run about 200c. However, Vaal Temple has been notoriously difficult in the past: this is a T16 map. If the Vaal Temple bosses are as difficult as other T16 bosses, completion of this map will be beyond the capability of most builds. I haven't tried this map though so it could be much easier than I expect - hence no recommendation at this time. Last edited by hankinsohl#1231 on Sep 23, 2016, 1:09:17 AM

" That is SOOOOOOooooooo build / experience dependent. Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018. Last edited by Serleth#4392 on Sep 22, 2016, 10:40:09 PM

" I guess so. It's from my narrow perspective as a totem player, LOL. As ranged with high DPS, I'd drop a decoy totem behind where the bosses first spawn and let rip with everything you have. For me, I'm sometimes able to kill one or both of them right off the initial sequence (usually kill one, sometimes kill both, sometimes both survive; when I was first doing this with Lion's Roar knockback pushed both of them out of totem range and I'd have to tackle both on high health). At worst, both survive but are heavily injured. As melee, you'd have to be able to tank dual damage of course - decoy totem trick possibly helping out. To compensate for twinned bosses, I just roll them blue, making sure that if I get a second mod it's EZ-PZ. A nice thing about this encounter, is that there's a 3 or 4 second down time after you come within range before they attack. This allows you to carefully choreograph your opening attack. For example, trap/mine builds can lay down maximum traps/mines, totem builds can place totems appropriately and then take cover, etc. ==== I'll edit my post to indicate "easily killed twinned for some builds". Good point about some things being difficult for some builds and easy for others. For example, that 4-projectile Overgrown Shrine map with dual renegade warband bosses was a fucking death sentence for me, LOL; your build seemed much more capable during that encounter. ==== Edit 2: Added a bit of detail about the Rigwald encounter to my initial post. Yeah, I almost wish I was Iron Reflexes for that almost totally unavoidable spec throw. If I got hit at the apex where I wouldn't have time to manually dodge the second pass, it was game over.
I can't do Dark Forest twinned I don't think. I'll try it blue but the fact he doesn't spawn adds after you kill one of them was a big drawback for me. That may have been a reduced crit map though as well, I forget exactly. Will definitely need more experimenting. Core Malachai was actually almost fine with completely rippy mods. The majority of my deaths were just not seeing the fire traps. I decimated everything else. I'm out of vaal orbs to corrupt maps for the time being though so I'm probably back to just rebuilding the middle of my map pool and/or MFing for a while. I can't stand doing Uber runs all day, but it'll probably be easier (and more profitable) than Vaal Temple, which atm is pretty much 1ex per map. Although I'd love to do that. Haven't managed a VT on any of my 15 corrupts yet. Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018.

" I'd love to hear feedback about Vaal Temple. According to the wiki (it may be a misprint), Vaal Temple comes from T16 corruptions now (kind of strange in that it was a +1 level corruption previously, so maybe a mistake in the wiki, dunno). |
|
If I get there, I'll let you know.
T15 is the minimum requirement. T16s will work as well. According to various redditors they have acquired them by corrupting things like Abyss or Colosseum. I've edited the wiki to correct this. Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018. Last edited by Serleth#4392 on Sep 22, 2016, 11:57:29 PM

Off topic - Dreamfeather Spectral Throw Defenses
Spoiler
In case anyone is interested, here are some defensive stats from Mathil's Dreamfeather Spectral Throw. Fully buffed with Auras and Flasks active: 58140 Evasion Rating 78% chance to evade attacks 40% chance to dodge attacks 44% chance to dodge spells 134% movement speed Mathil went Pathfinder to abuse flasks (almost always up). On top of the defenses mentioned above, the smoke cloud created by his Witchfire Brew Stibnite flask comes into play (inflicting blind and the attendant 50% less chance to hit). It's pretty crazy really. He does so well against Guardians and other endgame content because he evades/dodges so much damage. Mathil's build looks pretty cool. I've always wanted to give spectral throw a try. Perhaps after I get 40/40 I'll look into this build. |

" thanks a lot. i stay in stuttgart/germany for this weekend so i cant lvl a second toon. But with this its funny now to play with gems high enaught and the carcass. But the most funny (not) rip was if i tried this map with the statue who stands in act 3 bevor lab (dont know the map anymore) and i rolled the map boss has x % attac speed and multiple projectiles. i come in the room and died bevor i can do anything. then i tried another time and with the attack speed and multiple projektiles i have no place to stay and died another 3 times. so it was a learning experience :-) |
