ok that was bound to happen

have a level 28 character in Bloodlines.
mostly self-found blue gear.
fire trap. fire storm. EK. feels pretty solid overall.
so I decided to try low level PvP. oh god what a mistake.

I understand the algorithm pits you against a player roughly your skill-level, but my opponent during 3 consecutive matches (and losses), was a guy wearing a Tabula Rasa, and doing at least 400 damage with every single Wand shot (effective 2-shot, since I have ~800 life).
and over 600 damage and up to 1-shot, with Kinetic Blast.

so after he slaughtered me for the 3rd time, I asked him to show the wand.
it is a crazy, Elreon Meta-Mod crafted, ~130 DPS phys wand, which for some god-damned reason requires level 28. how is that even possible? how am I supposed to go up against something like that?

but the really sad part, is the algorithm ranked him on my tier and matched us again and again, until for the 4th time I just had enough and logged out.
which probably means the other guys, are even more insane in terms of gear.

LLD is now suffering from the same terminal disease it did before the "PvP patch": gear or get the fuck out. took some time, but was bound to happen.

back to HLD in Standard I suppose, while it is still fun.

If GGG chickens made an action RPG, what would it be called? Path of Eggxile, a Peck 'n' Slash RPG.
Why was the helmet spluttering? It was a coif.
PvP will never be balanced in a game where you can equip characters. Never.

So if you insist on PvP, either prepare for it to be unbalanced or play a different type of game. Rejoice in the knowledge that you made some kid's day by being his punching bag.
Ok, your suggestions?

depends on how you can gear characters, which is my point here.
and I'm no one's damned punching bag.

well for starters, how about have actual "level 28 grade" items in level 28 dueling?
there are more than enough powerful uniques and even rares for that level, without crazy Meta-Mod Wands flying around one-shotting people after PvP balance calculation.

LLD the way I see it, should be a test of gem setups and raw player skill, under a very restrictive setting.
and it sure looks like it, if you watch the Invitational Tournaments. some great matches there, and great players.

so ideally, that's what I want to see when I join a random match, too.
don't mind losing, really - but not like this. this is ridiculous.
I felt like showing up with a knife, to a Plasma Cannon fight.

EDIT: @MegaTen_IV, no.

If your characterc dies in PvP, it dies for good ? I mean, it's over for him in BL and is resurrected in the standard heaven ?
I had a similar experience. Insta-gibbed by the same dude multiple times. Sunk a bunch of currency into making a better set and ended up with the same results.

Couldn't get past the first pvp master mission. Wasn't interested to begin with, now even less so.

Economy tests. Meh.
It WAS an actual level 28 item, with crafted mods. Do yuo suggest to disable craftable mods on level 28 items or what?

The problem is they already have the items. This just creates another legacy item market. In reality it would just make it HARDER for people to compete.

Here's what makes it not work for newer players.

In order to pass through the earlier stages of the lld challenges, a player needs weapons that are not available to them UNTIL they have leveled up their masters to a point where they're able to craft high mods, and/or purchase the weapons necessary in the market.

Both things are something players at level 28 do not have.

It's broken.
