1.3.0 Patch Notes

Best Patch ever.

Im glad GGG have the balls to bring those OP mechanics down instead of just buffing the rest. Avoiding the power creep that plague so many games.

Looking forward to start a new melee character tomorrow :D
2 things that definetly needs to be NERFED and haven't been done so:

1. Flameplast (For obvious reasons)

2. Damage of INFERNAL BLOW explosion (yeah yeah all the QQ WE NEEED MOAR DMG, most of peaople have no idea what the hell they are talking about), but to be honest for HC players this skill isn't really valid for end game content due to reflect. Explode ele reflect mob and you are pretty much guaranteed to die because mob HP gets to just insane ammounts.

Simply expressing my opinion.

I also find it odd people are saying this is good for diversity, even though in reality they have just made certain builds suck, while not really providing anything new to choose from. That is not a good example of more choice.

It's good for diversity in the sense that now people might actually start considering other options rather than just two or three build styles.

I've played virtually every build and playstyle this game has to offer and until this patch, there was literally 0 reasons in recent history to do anything other than block or crit unless you simply wanted to try something different.

Which takes nothing away from the fact that lots of other builds can be more than successful; it's just that most people don't care to look for them or how to orchestrate them. As a prime example, multiple times in this thread you've sounded off on how melee is no longer an option. Among the builds I've done are three non-crit, non-block highly successful melee characters, one of which killed Atziri with nothing GG: a 5L Belly and a 250 pdps dagger.

PEBCAK.

I find your repeated use of pebcak a little aggravating, who are you to say where the problem is ?

No, my point was block will still be viable, just no longer afk; crit will still be awesome. And so are a boatload of other builds nobody seems to want to play or even bother researching because they think those are the only two options available.

Like I said. PEBCAK.

I understand that ... but what are were the ways to survive as a melee pre 1.3 ?

1. stack block and armour
2. stack evasion + acrobatics + ondar
3. use claws with VP and high life leech
4. use immortal call all the time
5. use MoM + AA + 1./2./3./4.

and after 1.3 we have the same options but without option 1.
There are no "new" options to explore

And i don't think that block will be viable in 95% of the cases .. with lower block chance from gear and very low/passive consuming nodes from the passive skill tree this option just becomes inferior to the other means of defense.

I agree that block is overpowered, and i would've been happy with the new patch and all the changes if something was done to improve the of armour because at the moment armour is just inferior.. the only think that made armour viable was the combination with high block chance.

Don't get me wrong block was abused in many builds .. but completely destroying it for everyone ... i'm just not ok with that.

P.S.
i strongly support the -30% block from acrobatics

Cyclone now attacks slightly slower and has an equivalent increase to damage. It now deals damage immediately when it is used, in addition to periodic damage. Cyclone no longer targets enemies, only locations.

Wow, i thought that's how it already worked. So i guess this means less desync? And we get another movement skill for facebreakers. So promoting people to play facebreaker+shield with shieldcharge.

As for the rest of the patch notes, there's nothing positive that affects my characters.

I can't remember the last time I saw a nerf patch this huge. Holy heck.

Glad that Herald of thunder + curse on hit wombocombo got BUFFED though haha.
Glad that Puncture got away unharmed.

I haven't played melee since forever so don't care about block or melee.

but DAMN GGG, you got them balls for sure. Nerfing PVE beacuse of PVP, now that takes cojones. Don't deny it, block wouldn't have been touched if it wasn't for PVP and the lack of a ''Block penetration support gem''

Quite sad though, since you said that PVP would never affect the main game, PVE, yet, you massivly nerfed the main game to make room for PVP. God I hate the word PVP, leaves a bad taste in my mouth..
