on the other hand I have barely any magic find at the moment, which isn't ideal either. did you say you swapped out some life gear for higher magic find? I should think about that too, cause survival is not a problem with currently 3.8k life (3.3 with auras).

Yes, I am experimenting with a unique I found:

The loss of life is significant as I don't have much to begin with, but workable (I have not died with them equipped -- knock on wood).

So far, no good finds with them. :)

hmm, that's actually a good item to pair with an andvarius ring (not that I have one :) cause the resist loss from the ring is almost balanced by the gloves. however I'd lose life, armor and attack speed from my current gloves.
could be worth it though... let me know if the magic find gets better :)
The changes to MF that are coming may make it easier for us to have a decent amount without losing a lot of survivability, which may make things a little too easy. But that's all just speculation as I have no idea what the changes will be.

Has anyone tried Glacial Hammer with this build? I'd like to try it but have yet to find a decent mace (etc.) to use it. Is there any difference between Glacial Hammer and Heavy Strike + Hatred? I should probably google this stuff before asking here but you're all very nice people and I can help but imagine using an Elemental Proliferation or Melee Splash or both and freezing the entire screen, which is something that having no crit chance makes impossible currently. If nothing else then it would only add another defence mechanic to this already difficult to kill build :)
I just wanted to check in with some feedback from my experiences with your build. I have a strong set of items, including Bringer. I'm level 79 now. Most notable edit to your build is I have nothing north of Ondar's, as I've 75 block without Ranger nodes.

I've yet to get a 73 or greater map with this guy, but I've ran several 68-72's, alching them all and just running whatever I get and just charging in fearless. Still a very durable build. Notable map mods that are dangerous, from my experience, are buffed bosses coupled with a weakness to said boss attack.

The things I've died to:
Buffed Colonnade Brutus/Kole style boss. Since then, I've learned to enfeeble those gigantic bosses, taken on more armor and use determination for those instances. It is easy to mitigate physical, especially with Bringer, as any durable hard hitter is blind. Only death to physical so far.

Buffed map bosses coupled with either elemental weakness mod, or reduced max resist. Level 71 Piety from Temple map one shot me with lightning this way. I died to double Kuduku Underground Sea map from same combo. I hadn't been running Purity as I was on 75 for all without it, but now I'm running Purity and am buying Elemental Adaptation next for 80 all resists to help with this.

A gang of those fire breathing hounds in a Wharf, or Pier map, who had multiple projectiles. They ate me alive.

I've also died to elemental reflect explosions from infernal blow+melee splash to large packs of mobs, but that applies to anybody suicidal enough to try to live through said explosions.

I don't know why I felt compelled to write all that. *shrugs*. I've really been enjoying your build.

Hi) Didn't submit anything since a while now, been hacked few weeks ago and now I came back with a 60 templar, actually not that bad, but I would like to get some advices from you guys, as I'm kinda self-loot, and it's kinda hard sometimes, to do my quests or even kill packs in act 2 merciless :( and I got around 1k6 hp actually.

Here is my gear :
Spoiler

I do almost 2k DPS with Heavy strike and around 800 with ground slam. What would you advice me to gain 1k or 2k dps from there, as I have not so much currencies ?(

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the build, still works great in general, but my stuff is so noob haha)))
Hi Ekyla, I mgiht have some items in stash which could be minor upgrades for you - do add me to friend list (IGN: MeleeGibson), and when we both are online we can check. I play Singapore gateway / time zone.

Cheers
A question: I have my resists maxxed (except Chaos which is at -30% still) at merciless (I am in beginning of act 3 merciless now - level 69). I am thinking of replacing my necklace (or a ring or two) as all of them have 2 resists or so (which are overcap).

If I buy a stone of lazhwar Lapis Amulet (50% of block chance applied to spells), will the 50% block chance apply to spells without taking anything away from my regular melee block? I-e, I am now at 72% Block chance for melee attacks. If I get that amulet, would I have 72% block chance for melee attacks AND 36% block chance for spells on top of that? thanks

P.S: I had edited this Q earlier into yesterday's post so probably got missed :)

Yes. Spell block is its own stat which is only raised in very few ways. There's the one shield talent point for 12% of block to spells, a Stone of Lazwhar for 50% of block to spells, and Rainbowstride boots for 20-25% of block to spells for a max possible of 87% of your block to spell block. Then to calculate spell block you just take your normal block (probably capped at 75%) and smack on the 0.87 multiplier to get max 65% possible spell block.

1. faster siege axe, having a 1.8-2aps axe with +physical as yours are is a great dps buff, and of course use 20% quality since you have pure phys, gett 15% more phys damage on your current axe aint bad.
2. multistrike, its insane good
3. faster attack gem
4. melee physical damage + melee on full life (since we block/evade almost everything even 50ES is enough to have full life and do loads more damage)
5. use the 4 DPS auras. Here i think hatred is best, haste 2nd, wrath and fire is just...

If you find any fast rapier/dagger, with 2aps and high phys damage, dont be afraid to change to reave/lightningstrike instead of just vendor them... this build works with any 1h weapon, just change attack gem

I confirm, that's exactly what I have going on. 75 block, and 65 spell block with the passive, rainbowstrides and stone of lazhwar. and I gotta say it is sweet, for example the fire dogs can't really touch me anymore, sometimes I can even stand within a bunch of blue dogs and a rare dog with reflect, and facetank them :)
speaking of reflect, I haven't died to it yet and I'm not super careful. I feel like the spell block plays a big part in that.

cheers!

Hello, i'm really enjoying this build at the moment,
I've got a ton of char ... the highest one beeing (only) lvl 53 ...
and this one is by far the tankiest and strongest one
- thanks to the fact that i could use most of the uniques and "nice" leveling stuff in my stash -

I'm lvl 47, beginning act 3 cruel, and my dsp has been skyrocket since i could change my Brightbeak to a nice(?) tomahawk.
Being all resist capped i think i'll be able to finish cruel difficulty without any trouble.
I also recently dropped my first exalted orb and i'm now thinking to the next steps :

Here is what i'm using, what could be the best improvement?
....
What would be my next priority for merciless difficulty ?
The axe increase my dps up to 3.1k, it really suprised me, and there is only 4 mods on it,
is there anything worth i can do on it or should i wait for higher level item ?

Another question, I've seen not so much intelligence node in the build,
I still can level my blue gems but i'm stucked with some equipped uniques.
I was thinking to take a temporary node like "Wisdom of the Glade" ?
How did you do ?
Maybe i misunderstood something and not all blue gems must be fully leveled ?
or leveled up at higher level with an high end gear ?

Thanks for you advices, nice interesting thread with a lot of helpful people !

Welcome, GranNiN! I'm glad you are having fun.

The axe looks quite good for your level.

For merciless, try to keep your resists capped and reach 2500 life, max block and reach 30% evasion/30% armour. Should be able to do this for cheap with some rares around the 1-3 chaos each price range.

I'd save your exalt and most other currency you find toward a bringer of rain when you are higher level, if you are into trading. Your gear looks great for your current level. :)

As to intelligence, we end up with about 100 when we reach high level and follow the guide exactly, and have the Lazhwar amulet (as you do). I went up for Divine Toughness in my early 70s. 100 INT is enough to use Purity at level 20.
