[3.0] NeverSink's ♣ INDEPTH Tornado&Archer Guide ♣ Beginner friendly ♣ Rapid clear ♣ All bosses

TS is really amazing but I wish the guide was more specific when it comes to gear and gems. I also have a problem with the lack of intelligence and strength, so it's hard to find gear and a bit frustrating to lvl up. With the gear I have now, at lvl 50, I'm doing incredibly little damage. It's not hard to lvl up because of damage though, but because of gear. The build is easy to play, way easier than melee, but I can't find anything for this gal.
I think Neversink left some space for imagination and flexibility.

For your level any armor giving a lot of evasion/hp/resistances is good. Try looking for two stone rings with resistances on both suffix and prefix sections. THey can also contain stats like int or str
Any bow with good physical dmg/crit chance/crit multi/atack speed is good for the beginnign. Try crafting one acc to the guide in the first post.

Don't be shy to apply points into Strength/Intelligence nodes +30 if needed. There are also musthave nodes that provides int/str/ . For example Primal spirit node, Trickery, Coldhearted calculations etc. Jewel sockets also can be used to get some missing stats.

And don't forget the Labyrinth and it's talent tree.

Thanks but I'm kind of noob and I was looking for very specific indications. I would not change anything from the tried and tested skill tree. I'm always stuck towards the end of Merciless, and the game seems to expect me to buy good gear. So I can't just be creative with this game, I was creative with my first build, and it turned out a complete failure.

Another problem.. the Ascendancy classes are a mess, I didn't understand anything, he says Pathfinder is great for both high and low gear, and it turns out it's in fact the worst class, it's a utility class, and you're supposed to have great gear with that. I don't know who in this game ca afford great gear, maybe people who farm 24/7 for months or years, but I definitely can't afford it.

So I panicked because I was afraid of a server crash and I just chose Pathfinder.. without doing more in depth research. Dunno what to do now but to start over, again, with another build... but this is the 3rd build I fail miserably and I wasted too much time killing the same bosses again and again and again.. I'm tired. -_-
It's normal that you stuck in the end of merciless.
-You should start building up defense from the cruel(hp/resistances/evade/dodge). It's normal to have 2k-2.5k life till the end of Merciless. Try maxing resistances or at least keep them 60.
Guide contains order of skill distribution.
-Make sure to finish normal Trials http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Trials_of_Ascendancy
When all 6 trials are finished in Act three go upstairs to the statue and finish Labyrinth. This will give you two points into Ascendancy class. Deadeye is your choice.
-HOW TO CRAFT YOUR HARBINGER-look at this section of the guide.Don't try to craft 5 or 6 link bow instantly-4 linked slots is enough for the start.
Gear:
Bow-try crafting a bow with % increased Physical Damage. Try getting Bloodthirsty preffix or higher as described here( http://www.exilemods.com/)
Quiver-Spike-Point Arrow Quiver unless you have a decent unique one. A good one should contain crit chance/ crit mult/atack speed/life/resist/leech
Armor-can't recommend anything specific- evasion/life/resistances/atackspeed(gloves)/movement speed(boots)
Accesories-two stone rings with res/life/stats if needed
Orb your flasks. One should cure freeze, one antibleed, take one quicksilver. Manage your flasks according to bosses you are going to meet. If you are going to meet physical damage dealer grab basalt and stibnite flasks.
Skills:make sure all your gear has at least 4 linked slots for skills.
Main skill:Tornado shot linked with Faster attacks,Greater multiple projectiles and Physical projectile attack damage
Secondary:Frenzy or Puncture linked with Physical projectile attack damage, Faster attacks,Slower projectile
Attack boost: Hatred+Herald of Ash or any other from the corresponding section of the guide
Curse: Assassins mark linked with greater multiple projectile, curse on hit and lightning arrow
Golem:Golem often serves as few seconds tank giving you more time to damage freely. Ice golem to boost damage or chaos golem to boost defence.
Escape: Blink arrow

If you stuck go and farm some levels: Felshrine ruins in act 2, Docks,Ebony barracks, Warehouse in act 3

The rest can be found in the guide just read it carefully.
What do you guys think about switch all evasion for armor? 16k armor and around 5k hp can give nice survi. Ofc with Rearguard? I test it twice and its not so bad but im not sure which one is better...

To those asking about the builds viability in 2.3 and gear etc, just wanted to give my own insight after a long time with this build, hopefully it's useful to you guys.

I owe NeverSink a thank you as I've used this build for both Perandus and prophecy and possibly talisman (can't remember) and they've been very productive leagues, thanks for such an excellent build. I've sort of ended up doing a mini review below...

Currently at 90 running T10-13 maps + Atziri(as i can barely get hold of 14,15 maps) only physical reflect seems to pose an issue for me with minor difficulty on ele reflect. Other than that, if you tweak it right, this build just turns the whole screen to ice cubes with TS!

check out some of the tool-tip stats below,

Unbuffed (No bloodrage and 5 frenzy charges or ice golem - about 34k Dps all buffed on the tooltip)more is better of course but does the job.

Defense - res capped on merc although ele weakness maps and curses WILL take me below cap with the current setup for lightning res.

very pleased with the dodge and evasion capabilities this build has to offer, but you still have to be careful and the 4.5k HP i have currently could be better if i change the amulet and helm, as well as move a strength passive and res passive I've taken back into life. Current setup seems to narrowly avoid one shot deaths at this point though.

I've found the below gear set up quite effective, but admittedly I've been extremely lucky with finding and crafting this stuff with zero trading, as i can't hack it after years of it on D2 back in the day. The item levels average around 75-80 with the rings being done with alchemy orbs and scouring orbs on highest item levels i could find. Was tiresome though and was not done quickly.

The alpha's is a temporary benefit for anti freeze and the haste/hatred gems levels past 20, but will be replaced by rats nest asap or a nice rare pelt or similar. Alpha's was not intended to be worn originally. Increased duration with vaal haste is about 9.8 secs at it's current level and is totally amazing! use it!

Some gems are slotted for leveling such as phys to lightning and arctic armor (which is done)
I did run enduring cry and immortal call but haven't needed it at the moment, it will be going back in somewhere though for extra defense.

I want blast rain 5 linked but even without it it's not too much of a problem, same with TS. Ideally i want it six linked in a better dps harbingers with that PTL gem slotted, but hasn't stopped me from high end maps etc. the guides gem links section is pretty much on point so follow it best you can.

Ascendancy - I went with the anti bleed and chance to bleed node and then the projectile crit chance increased with piercing nodes, but i did this to go along with the drill neck build. I should probably tweak the ascendancy points to use far shot but the current arrangement seems to work quite nicely. Any feedback on the below is more than welcome. i dropped puncture when i got those bleed points and started using blast rain at that point.

so yeah just a bit of insight, one of many examples of how the build can turn out i imagine. persevere with this build it's very viable in 2.3 and really good fun. Ice Cubes anyone? 10/10

Thanks again NeverSink

hi, is there a video with uber atziri kill ? :)
Thank you, this guide helped me a lot with my start in PoE!

I have a question about pierce: it's not mentioned too often, mainly to get a damage bonus from a quiver. Is chain really so much better, even though pierce gets more damage and chain less per shot? With pierce, the damage per projectile (and triggered lightning bolt) should be at least 10% higher, maybe even more.

How does it work if I combine pierce and chain, say with a 50% chance each? If a projectile doesn't pierce, does it chain in every case or do the 50% chain chance apply for every non-piercing projectile? The question is basically whether I can combine both to have a 100% chance of an extra projectile.

I play with Lightning Arrow and have 4 Links: GMP, WED, PTL - if I had a 5th, I'd add PPAD. It works great and a pierce chance of 50% (from passives) adds enough projectiles for serious damage. I don't see a reason to wait for a 5th link to start playing with LA, but of course it's hard to judge since I kill very quickly anyways and usually one-shot larger herds. I will have to see if that goes on, I feel like I have been lucky with bow drops so far (but I also feel it's easier to get a decent bow than another weapon).

Thank you for singing praise of Frenzy, it's really great and I would have missed this attack.

Also phasing is very interesting. I happened to have an Ascend to Flesh-Belt, which works great with the Raider passives. I added an Onslaught-Bottle for the fun of it and now I phase most of the (combat) time, so much fun.

My profile is public if anyone wants to have a look and can maybe add something to my build.
here the thread about combining Fork, Chain, LMP, and Pierce.
