Seriously though.

1. Save your money.
2. Get Reach of the council.
3. ???
4. Profit.

That to. I could go on in detail about the math of crafting but this is more or less how it goes:

Use this website to check out what you aim for:
http://poeaffix.net/2h-bow.html#openModal2

A) Buy Bowyer's Dream. If it is not a 6-L to begin with it is not worth it to craft on the bow.
B) Aim for Merciless roll (170%+) or Tyrannical if you are just trying to get an early league bow (it isn't early league anymore)
C) From there on there are several routes. I personally prefer Augmentation + Regal

However, as mentioned above, unless your main attack does not involve GMP (Like Blast Rain, RoA or Split Arrow) you should use Reach of the Council this league. You should not waste any currency what-so-ever on crafting this league.

Next league if Reach of the Council is removed you can have a go at crafting :)
Kinda of terrible at navigating the forums so - please forgive me if this is a repeated question..

If i am using the full dps original build - what gems would I use for a 5 link and eventually a 6link with the new bow reach of the council. I am using tornado shot as my main damage source, ice arrow w/ curse on hit. I need a single target damage attack also please help with that.

TL/DR-- What gems for 5 link and 6 link reach of the council.

Thanks again,

Please don't flame If I am in the wrong <3

TS + Pierce + Crit Strikes + PPAD + Crit Damage + Added Fire/Slower Proj/Faster Attacks.

Use either one of the last 3 for your 6l.

Use tornado shot as single target, it works well enough.

OR

You can use lightning arrow, with frost wall bullshit for single target. The links are

LA + Pierce + WED + Crit Strikes + PPAD + Crit Damage.

Tbh I wouldn't follow this guide for copypasta anymore, kinda outdated.
For try, for see, and for know.

This is a buff

You've mentioned this guide is outdated a few times - just curious in what way specifically is it outdated?

Are all of the provided trees bad? Bad gem links? Bad gear recs? Bad ascendancies? Mostly wondering from a TS perspective.

Thanks.

I will actually go in depth a little, maybe help provide perspective on my approach to the game. I've written a guide before, but ofc no other bow guide will get more looks than this one, simply because it has a million responses (over 3 years topfuckingkek), even if content is outdated, with a "bait" Windripper section when Amigo's is far superior as he continuously plays his character and continues to make small tweaks to keep up to date with the meta. My guide, along with other players' guides that I look up to, such as Frankenberry, Ayvi, KING, etc, all get buried because this thread still lives on. When you look at those guides and actually read what those players are telling you, it will change your approach to bow, as all of them have a different playstyle and builds that teach you how to adapt.

First of all, before you read on, these are my opinions, but they are formed with research into the meta and then making my own adjustments. Passive Trees are subjective really, you build your tree based on what your character needs, your items at the time, and what your playstyle is. It is #1 noob trap when you don't consider these factors and instead you copy paste a tree and you get completely fucked for it.

For example, I use this tree (Level 89 Raider, LA, but can also use TS or whatever other skill like Ice Shot etc): https://www.pathofexile.com/fullscreen-passive-skill-tree/AAAABAIBAQBeAx4FLQW1CC4NjQ-rES8WvxcmGYoZjh9BIXYj0yP2JIsknST9JpUqCypbKwouUzB8Mfo51DqzPL4-z0HQQzFDNkd-Sn1LV0z_TZJOKlFHUuxTu1VLW69d8l9wX7Bh4mJaYqxlTWyMbydvnm_ycFJ07XXLdvd3B3n2eoR67311fyuDCYNthMWE2YbOhxOHdonTjDaNfY1-jb-PYJcGm42btZyknaqgn6OKr-uwq7TFu-O9Nr3mvqe_1cDjwTPC7MM6xILEospKzZjQrdNv037UI9aK2NXaweOf51TqYu2D7g7vevGz_MX-uv_e

This tree you can see skips a lot of the Physical Nodes, and goes straight for Crit Nodes. In gear context, I do this because I prioritize Crit over a lot, and I use Kaom's Heart to smooth out the medium level of life. I find maximizing Crit Chance to be incredibly powerful, shatter effects with Hatred, Shock with Lightning Arrow, Curse application with Herald of Ice, Knockback with King of the Hill. All these things are hidden in your tooltip DPS that people thirst for so much.

It is also a very progression friendly Tree, as with this tree you aren't committed to Phys or Ele bow at all, and can use your last 10-12 points to customize towards it. For example I can get some Jewel Slots and Heavy Draw cluster if I go Phys Bow, or pick up Jewel Slots and Forces of Nature if I get an Ele bow later.

=============================================================================================

Gem Slots are just bad and one-dimensional in this guide. You build off of the bow you have and the gear you have. Got a Harbinger? Okay, that's step one. What if the implicit is fine but you don't have any Local Crit? Do you need an Increased Crit Strikes Gem to help? Probably. You can skip ICS if you have 8.5%+ Base Crit on a Harbinger, for example. But what about Reach of the Council? That shit has a 6% Base Crit. ICS is mandatory there.

I'm not a fan of every setup having PTL-WED. What. The. Fuck. PTL-WED is basically a shitty tooltip booster unless you're geared/built to take advantage of it, or playing an Ascendancy themed build like my Lightning Arrow Inquisitor. What most people make the mistake of is using it way too early with progression gears. Guess what? No Crit = No Shock, and if your gear is bad, your Lightning Damage isn't gonna break the Shock Threshold anyways, at least not when playing at content on par with your character level. The small tooltip boost compared to Added Fire, Increased Crit Multi, etc, means nothing in that case.

It is also the worst possible choice for Atziri. If you get a chance to look at her in game. Resists all Elemental Damage. So when you use PTL-WED, you are actually doing the equivalent of letting her wear a Lightning Coil against you for the fight (actually, you're letting her wear a super Lightning Coil, better than Legacy version). What?! The best Atziri Setups have no Red Links, imo, and are mostly Physical Damage based. You know why? The one stat she doesn't have under her is "Armoured."

The Drillneck setups are somewhat confusing. For example in the TS gem links, why would you replace FA (quality of life, fire faster, recover from firing animation faster) with Pierce? Why wouldn't you just go TS-GMP-PPAD-FA-Pierce-ICM or Added Fire? Why shove PTL-WED down people's throats and cut a gem that is actually useful? FA is actually a nice hidden multiplier if your bow is slow. Just really odd to me. I also don't think TS is particularly useful with Pierce, much prefer the more traditional setups.

(An aside on making a "Drillneck Passive Tree." Secretly OP steps, wanna hear it?

Cut any 5 points from your Tree. Take the top side of the Piercing Shots wheel. BOOM, you have a Drillneck Tree. HOLY SHIT)

Also for gem links did you notice that Ice Shot and Split Arrow have LA in their links? It's just copy pasted from the LA stuff (which still has Chain!). Yet for Ice Shot, Increased AOE is actually better for the cone explosion, especially when paired with Frost Wall. Which isn't even mentioned except in passing at the top of the page, although for the last month of 2.2 it was basically FOTM, and remains still. That at least deserves a small update, no?

=============================================================================================

Gear recs, I mentioned this in another thread, but here is the observation I have had with some "guides," and the deadly cycle they put new players through:

- Recommend Drillneck (so op!)
- Look my gear has Rat's Nest, Maligaro, Atziri Step
- Sometimes Daresso Armor

- New player reads guide, buys Drillneck and 3-4 Uniques with no Resistances
- Loses ~60% Global Critical Strike Chance with Drillneck, when he could be getting a good rare Spike-Point
- Forced to buy shitty Jewelry forever (I'm talking trashy non-Diamond bases with a pile of Resists, some Life, and sometimes can't even craft Flat Phys)
- Can't really upgrade because gear is locked now
- Fails the overall theme of the build because core concepts of the build cannot be elevated any further (scale Phys, some WED, and most importantly Crit Chance) unless they shell out multiple Exa for good Diamond Rings

Honestly if you can't upgrade eventually to Diamond bases or scale Crit, you might as well be playing a non-crit bow build and just focusing on pure Phys/Proj/Bow nodes. It actually works better that way tbh.

But this is the trap that new players can fall into. Yeah, there's huge section about Boots where he finally links rare Resist/Life/MS boots, but when your first two examples have a pile of Uniques, some that can't be obtained easily in this league (Shadows and Dust, for example), new players are gonna beeline straight to copy paste, and they are screwed.

=============================================================================================

Ascendancies, ofc they just have 6 points. And still the 2.2 versions. I mean, not much else to say there. Raider got a lot better, Assassin isn't relevant now to this particular version, as it has its own Poison TS section (which is probably much stronger than this style of bow build honestly), Pathfinder is from what I hear incredibly underrated for this build.

Anyways, just my thoughts. Any questions ingame I'm generally on in the evenings EST.

I was reworking on my harby, and spammed ~800 ish Alt, got flaring mod twice, but no luck in the yolo regal process. Then I saw this! I am new to the game and poor. Got about 2 exalts at the moment. But I decided to try the reach of the council and started saving money. Got lucky last night when running voll, an exalt dropped. Then I brought a 1 slotted reach for 3.75 exalts, spammed ~20 jewller's and 6 slotted it and I got this. Suddenly my tooltip DPS boosted from 35k with my lioneye to 66k (with 56% crit chance) no flasks, only replaced the GMP to increased critical strike for the suggested TS link in OP. My gems are not 20q yet, I think tooltip dps may reach 75k if i got gems 20q and the Maligaro's Virtuosity. My jewelries and armor are crap at the moment. The dps may further increase if I refine those.
With all that said, I quite like the reach at the moment and hope it goes to the standard after the league.

Thanks again. I think for someone who does not have much exalts should give a try on Reach in this league.

gears:

I have recently acquired a Queen of the Forest suit of armor. This item is mentioned earlier in the posts but not expanded upon as to how best to utilize it. Is it worth using? Or is a good rare better? If used, do you need to change your gem configuration in any way?

Thanks.
is first page and all the gem links gear and stuf till up to date?
