Daresso's Defiance plus CWDT/IC/ID/whatever basically equals old school CWDT setup.

No it was changed. You will lose your endurance charges to onslaught. Unless you have some neat trick.

You are correct in the sense I should have expounded more. And, I was wrong in saying "basically equals" because that does imply the same duration as before.

When you get hit below the CWDT threshold, you gain onslaught. When you get hit at or above the CWDT threshold and you have endurance charges, your IC is extended by 124% per charge. IC was changed to severely reduce the time it is up. With 3 charges I get about a 2 sec IC. it is not a lot of time, but it is enough time to make a snappy decision.....do I pot? do I stop using TS and switch to puncture trap?? do I GTFO!!??? lol And with TS, SA+chain, or any other favorite attack, you kill quickly enough that you should have endurance charges up at least 95% of the time (except against bosses with no or few ads).

I have been using Daresso's Defiance without enduring cry for the past two months; and am using it on Warbands as well. I think this is still a solid setup IMHO.

Hello again :)
First i want to say that i don't even have CWDT setup (no sockets for it) and i'm doing fine to very good in 78 maps, the thing is that nothing ever comes close to me.
Even my CoH(SA-CoH-Assassin Mark-Pcoc) setup kills mobs before i can use my TS setup.
I decided to lose 300 hp so i can wear maligaro's which made my damage go insane, with the nockback on crit not even bosses get to me.

I'm lvl 88 almost 89 at the moment with 4.3k hp and somewhere over 40k dmg on TS with charges up and 77 crit chance, don't know the puncture damage cause i didn't look at the tooltip don't really use it beside Atziri.

Again if u just stand in on place and shoot arrows and u don't have enough damage monsters will get to you, so in my opinion the best way to play this build in 2.0 is kite everything, hit and run like a mad man.

Very nice guide!

Im a total noob in path of exile and decided to follow this guide. Im in act 2 on cruel and things are starting to slow down. Im kinda confused on how to gear the right way ... where should my priorities be, on the right amount, color and links of sockets or on better stats?
Hi,

i got a question to this build. There is alot of investment in frenzy charges, but i cant see any skill or curse or item that grants them. With Frenzy it is clear, but the Creator of this build is using puncture and tornado shot and a curse that didnt grant frenzy charges. Why he still invest in the passive tree ? Im sure i cant see the wood for the trees. :)

To generate frenzy charges we use blood rage which is very easy to sustain.
Neversink u r awesome.
Thank you so much.

Thanks for visiting.
First of all, thank you for this great guide, NeverSink! I followed it in 1.3 and I plan to continue playing with this build in 2.0. But today I surfed wiki and I have a question. What about Poacher's Aim jewel for Drillneck users? I think it's nice way to save 4 talents in pierce cluster if you don't have gg jewels to put them instead. With Poacher's Aim we have 94% peirce chance, which is quite enough. I think it worth mentioning.

1) I was wondering if using Puncture or Frenzy is necessary with TS.Is this fine or will the single target attack be more important in higher level content? If not, what would be the best use for the extra links?

2) Also I do decent damage for now but I'm pretty squishy. I still need to get the cwdt setup but is there anything else I should do? Other than more evasion/life I mean.

3) What is a good amount of life leech to aim for? I would like to eventually drop the gem but I need it to survive for now.

4) Also I'm lazy and don't like to bother with enduring cry or curses. How much does that stuff help? Someone tell me how dumb I'm being.

5) One more question that's a little less related. Say I'm trying to get a 6 link armor. Is it usually more cost effective to buy a white 6 link and try to craft the affixes, or buy a chest with good rolls and try to craft 6 links?

You did all questions that I wanted to do. I just numbered them to help the pros to answer.

About 1), if we really need single target, I still haven't decided between Frenzy and Puncture.

About 2), since EC cannot be CWDT, is IC the best choice to CWDT? I need to test manually casting EC, to get used to the range and the effort that I'll have to make to keep End. Charges up on hard battles.

1) Using a single target skill is not required on anything accept Atziri, because of her reflect clone. Because of the secondary arrows from TS being able to hit a target multiple times, TS if often the best choice for single target. Though it all still comes down to personal preference, I never use a single target skill besides for Atziri. See below video for a comparison on single target. Since the mechanics of the skills haven't changed, the results from this video are still up-to-date.

If you still decide to go single target: frenzy works all the time, and has the added benefit of building freny charges. Puncture is best for moving targets because of the bleed effect. More 'hit n run' tactics.

2) Cap your resists. Movement speeds help a lot. High life leech. Make sure to not run out of mana. Vaal Pact.

3) That kinda depends on how much damage you do, and the kind of damage you're dealing. If you're dealing only phys damage, the life leech form the tree can probably be enough. If you're using Phys-to-Lighnint, that damage is cut in half, and so is your leech. See what feels comfortable for your. Go to a low level zone like Docks, get hit a few times to get on low life, and see how many hits it takes you to get back to full life.
In my opinion you can never have enough life leech. That's why, at lvl 95, I still use the life leech gem, and Vaal Pact. Survivability is key if you want to level up.

4) The purpose of a CWDT-IC setup is maninly to mitigate Phys reflect. Which can become a pain if you're dealing a lot of damage. Thankfully it has been toned down a bit, but can still kill your. Therefore I recommend running CDWT - IC - Inc Duration - some defensive curse like enfeeble or temp chains.
Other curses like Assassin's Mark / Warlords Mark help a ton in dealing damage/leeching life/getting power or endurance charges. They are very valuable for both offense, and defense.
If you're really lazy like me, you use 1 setup to build charges, and curse at the same time. Something like:
Frenzy - GMP - Chain - PCoC - CoH - Assassin's Mark/Warlord's Mark.

5) I generally find it best to buy a 6L, either with the mods you want, or craft some on there yourself. For reference, trying to 6L one yourself would according to statistics take you 30ex on average. As a side project to dump currency in I usually buy a good base chest piece/weapon, and try to 6L it, and then sell. Have made some profit in the past, but right now I'm having no luck whatsoever. That's fine if it's just a side project, and you have all the time in the world, but not if you're relying on that 6L for your build.

Hope this helps. Cheers
Any recommendation for defensive setup for this build with cwdt or cws?
