im trying enfeeble with warlords mark. seems to be working pretty good. the mana leech from warlords mark helps a lot since I don't have a soul taker. I manually cast flammability when I want a quick damage boost.
some day I'll have a soul taker haha. I'm also only lvl 85 ... an extra 5 lvls would help a lot. I actually had to take an extra 30 int node on the tree just to be able to lose the 30 int from necklace for the curse ... well worth it through from what I can tell so far. IGN- Shaeyaena

Currently level 78, how can I increase my DPS? (cheaply and effectively, it'd obviously go up if I got legacy Soul Taker (lolnothappening))
With semi-leveled Herald of Ash and Hatred AND a Tabula, my tooltip DPS is 8.3k, goes up to 10k when I use Atziri's flask, but this is still pretty weaksauce compared to what I should have. Here's my gear: I don't use Faster Attacks because I can't sustain my attacks without Mana Leech (the glove mana leech is crap), but I'd love to. Not sure why you're unsatisfied, that's decent DPS. Also, not sure where your DPS expectation comes from (what you "should have", as you say), but if you're comparing your DPS to my char, bare in mind that I'm using a Soultaker and am level 92 :)

I'm impressed that you have 8.3k DPS Epee.
Cant figure out then how I'm only at 5.7k DPS with what I think is similar gear, skills and passive tree when I'm also running Hatred and Herald Of Ash ?

1) Take more DPS nodes.

I was looking for one hand melee build and I chose infernal blow cause its so enjoyable:-) Followed by your advices made it happen at 68 lvl of my exile. Crucial moment when 2 days ago I've found kaoms chest armor and traded it for Soul Taker. Now its a blast. Lvl 71 crushing maps 66-70 like a boss.
Passive tree. I wonder if its neccesary to take diamond skin and make connection at the left and take all fire resistances. After Warrior's blood I went bottom to take passive "by the blade" + some additional melee dmg. Always thought that u can maximize resistances with proper gearing(I did it). THe only thing I lose is 20% critical strike damage reduction. Next thing is Herald of ash. Nice aura that give us boost to dmg but unfortunately I cannot run Determination - Anger/Hatred - Tempest Shield - HoA ;/ Here's my gear at the moment. Lots of thing to improve(gloves no attack speed;/) By the way I thought about including Heavy strike as single target attack to crush bosses. Howdy Comrade.
I'm a bit new and this is my main. I just hit 55 in cruel about 3/4th through act 3 and i'm starting to really slow down. As this is the highest level character I've ever rolled I am not sure if i should expect more of a grind here or there is something else going on I am failing to see in my inexperience. Midway through cruel I was sailing through mobs and really hit a nice mana regen, with leech and good tankiness. Now my health is starting to drop to white mobs and my dps is crawling. I have also lost about 10% armor mitigation in the last 6 levels. I've just hit a wall and need help breaking through. any suggestions? Thanks in advance to any help you can give me. Please treat my knowledge level as almost negligible in your response if you could. This is what i'm wearing and using. Since I was doing well with clearing I initially opted to head towards the Templar area of the passive tree after getting major nodes around Marauder. " You don't have to if you don't want to. I keep telling everyone who asks things like this: this build is flexible, it allows for variations. " Your gear is the problem. Your weapon is ancient for a lvl55, you have a magic instead of rare gloves, your chest and belt could also use an upgrade. However, do not be disheartened. The transition from Cruel to Merciless is known to be the worst in terms of gear. These levels are generally known as "hitting a wall", since it becomes increasingly hard to find good gear upgrades, and sometimes you end up in Act 3 Merciless with the gear you found in end of cruel. This is something you simply have to overcome and (since this is your first char this high of a level, as you say) get used to. My advice is to get to act 3 merciless and buy new gear there, because by then you should be level 60 or so and should be able to equip "end-game" gear, which has a level requirement of 60-ish. I also recommend joining public farming parties, like ledge in act 1, or docks in act 3. It is much easier and faster to level and gain XP in a group than playing solo. That way, your path to end of merciless should be a lot easier, and you should be able to get better gear there. If you do not find upgrades yourself, you have to buy them on the market.
