This build farm end game content? T15/shaper, or only atziri?

So I seem to have really slow DPS. My survivability has been amazing on anything other than Merc Piety, but DPS seems super slow. What might I be doing wrong?

Here's my gear:

I think like @Maklay11 asked, the build isn't compatible with the new content due to dps being too low. I had the same issue.
I know they'll do something for the 1h weapons in the 3.0, maybe we'll be able to do something here. Meanwhile, i guess a potential solution would be to convert all our damages into elemental damages* and get as much flat physical damages + elemental damages with weapons on the stuff with a high dps 1h mace / scepter. Kinda hard considering we already need all the available slots left for our resistances especially if you want to be hard capped (169%).
The Doryani's Catalyst recommended in the guide can help since there's up to 132% increased ele dmg. In our current passive tree our main focus is block nodes, and we don't have much +% increased dmg which is a problem to get decent dps.

*Or at least having ele damages as more than 80% of all our damages, which you should if you use a skill that already convert 50% of your physical damages like Ice Crash, and you're using stuff like Added Fire, in addition to Hatred and Herald of Ash.

I assume all the current 1h attacks builds have either a lot of increased damages from the tree or are crit oriented.

For now, i'm on the 3th reroll (the one i did after this Juggernaut), a berserker cyclone with the ngamahu's flame (build (slighty changed on my char) | tree | char). And it went really well so far. I'm impatient to get my first T16 map to fight my first guardian. I got 2 T15 (Abyss) and i simply destroyed the boss in a few seconds. We don't have the survivability we've here for sure but the Vaal Pact / Cloaked in Savagery combo with some mitigation (Enfeeble mainly, stibnite flask, cwdt molten shell immortal call phase run, a litte amount of armor / evasion) and a nice life pool (6k5+) is really great.

Well crap. I was hoping to hear something along the lines of "Here's what you did wrong". Respeccing to Nagamamamahuyahu's Axe as a cycloner would take a lot of regrets I imagine. :/
Of course this build can't do Shaper, any veteran player will tell you that. The reasons are simple: this build is from ancient PoE times when 1h+block was powerful, basically back in patch 1.3. Since then, however, 1h builds just kept getting worse and worse compared to newer skills and newer mechanics (like double dipping etc), and they basically cannot even compare to your average meta build in every league.

As for what Harest is saying: this is not a matter of "too little DPS nodes". There are no other DPS nodes to take! Nothing affects your DPS in ANY 1h RT build to make it shaper viable. Going pure elemental also does not do anything, don't be fooled. In fact, it might be even worse.

So, no, you can't do Shaper with this, because 1h RT is too low on dps for that. And Shaper is a DPS check, nothing else. You might perhaps be able to do Guardians merely because of the tankiness on this build, but it will take a while to kill them. Again, because of the DPS.

This is definitely NOT a meta build atm, and as any 1h RT build, it has not been meta for quite some time now.

Why going elemental would be worse ? Since the boosts from both physical and elemental would be taken into account. Well you said going "pure" so i guess you had something else in mind. With the build, we're already doing most of our damages as elemental if we're using one of the skills that converts phys dmg to one element.

About DPS nodes, there's indeed only a few one handed non crit nodes compared to two handed. But even if we had more, we couldn't take them. Block & life being more important.

Being meta isn't important too, if it's viable for the current content, it's just what's needed, nothing more.

The build was enjoyable regardless.

(1) Because elemental damage encounters elemental resistances on practically ALL monsters in merciless, especially in maps. (2) Because as a non-spell build, it's much harder to scale elemental damage; (3) Because as a non-spell build, it's much harder to get elemental penetration, either on the tree, or as a gem, or whatever, since you're already very very thin on available room for changes or additions (IF you want to remain a max-block life tank, that is).

Going crit AND staying life based + having max block is practically impossible, though, as it would require too much investment to be efficient. Since you're on the left side of the tree, you'd need accuracy nodes as well. It's simply not doable - again, IF you want to stay life based + max block.

Like i said, with the current build you already deal 50 to 80+% of your damages as elemental so... And it's converted damages or gained from physical damages. I don't see in details why with an attack "it's much harder to scale elemental damage" (your point 2). It's the same than physical damages. If you boost your physical damages it boosts everything. If you boosts your elemental damages, it boosts the 50 to 80+% part of your damages that is elemental. You're not using Doryani's Catalyst for nothing.
The real issue would indeed be the resistances (30% on most bosses, 40% guardians & shaper). You most likely run Hatred + Herald of Ash. I don't know if running Hatred + Elemental Weakness (w/ Blasphemy) would be better, probably.

Yep, going crit would be nuts.
