Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients Teasers

At minimum, they want a class. Everyone is saying how massive this update is. This is what I see.

No new acts.
Nothing fixed on tedious maps.
No new class.
Or weapon.

I am not certain where this massive jargon is coming from. I see seasonal content, nothing more.

And remember, this is the patch for the entirety of summer.

I can see why some are frustrated. I can wait until 1.0, unless something interesting comes out, this season has nothing to make me build a class again.

I'm going to go with here.

I'm loving poe2. But they made a lot of changes on things with low need of emergency to change.

We are still going to see ppl complaining about endgame. THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE SAME THING. I can do a hard bet on this.

(TO ME, and how I think most of other players think about the game) The game is not about enjoying the road, it's about building your char and not how you are building it. It's like at close to 90% of your complete build, what you push to 100% min max and how it flows.
If the road is bricked, or is it hard, if it's worth... it's worth.
I guess this patch made the road less of a burden. But as I said, it didnt change anything at the end because it matter not (as I said, to me and how I think most of other players think about the game)

Not only that...
Still gonna be a mess if dont control RMT, bots, exploiters and all of things we see constantly. As I said before... Ban the buyers of RMT, publish a update on your policies (like a manifest) of no mid-term with RMT, and start applying punishment.
Also, we still have A LOT OF BOTS on sniping, or taking advantage of new players' lack of knowledge to gain an advantage. We still have A LOT of endgame being playing market monopoly instead of playing the game.
We still have the hideout warrior. And, seriously, it's one of the best strategies to start the game and increase the distance between players, contributing to market inflation, alienating new players, and making the game impossible. The lack of progress is what makes the game a burden. So instead of making more enjoyable the burden, ACT towards ppl that makes the burden heavier. Control the inflaction of the game. how? Idk. But I bet that instead of completely reworking the endgame, as was done, if the focus was on adding new features, as mentioned in the quotes, and controlling the COMPANIES that abuse this game for profit, it would be 10 times better.

Fair enought!

I would guess they are saving to tease the new classes, weapons and acts for Exilecon. Would be realyl surprised if they did not showcase that then.

Almost certainly, but then you need to realize that if the patch 1.0 comes say December or late November, that's been a whole YEAR since they added a class. Given that it's almost entirely melee that's missing, it's crazy that they're like "yeah the game is balanced now for us to go live with 1.0" when there's hardly any melee in the game. How did they balance melee vs ranged/spells when almost everything in the game is ranged/spells. You've got maces, talismans(sometimes), quarterstaves, and spears. Even then half the spear skills are ranged. So really it's maces, quarterstaves, then almost everything ranged. Crazy that witches/sorcerers not only get all their ascendancies, but even a secret one and flails, swords, axes, and daggers aren't even in the game yet.

Its very confusing to read things like "Noone asked for these things, we asked for other things", when talk about adressing endgame from both playerside and devside (to me atleast) has been the loudest and most returning topic since 0.1

So with what we are getting, if this isnt something that you wanted. Could some of you kindly just make a little list with answers of..

Q: What do you want more then a sorted end-game atm? (still wathing for patch-change-list)

I'm pretty sure some of them don't know what they DO want, just what they DON'T want. I have asked this question a few pages back, and no one really seemed interested in answering.

Pardon me for looking at this and assuming it's ragebait, it is ragebait right?...or have you fine fellows never taken the trip two clicks over to the early access feedback forum?

Re: Endgame changes. Endgame infinite atlas does not appear to be changing or addressing many of the concerns over difficulty navigating the discordant bloat, loading issues when it gets past a certain size, etc.

I think the endgame revamp, initially promised for 0.4, delayed even further by the 0.5 delays, was hoped to be a true overhaul to the entire format, not just a few quest additions loosely tied to the overall plot to the fundamentally janky aimless mess of the current state.

In this very thread, and countless others in the early feedback forum people were pumped with excitement at the prospect of the addition of a new class or classes, and new weapons. I did not see a single thread or comment from people saying 'I cant wait for the new fetch quests' or "I'm really crossing my fingers for more runes and other things to block on my loot filter that I have to manage getting from a 3rd party since it's not even available in game yet..."

I could write 10 pages on this, but you can just as easily go read the dozens of complaint threads that have popped up since the 0.5 preview came out. I'll give you a short summary anyway.

Top desired fixes/changes going unadressed or seemingly punted to 'well fix it by 1.0 status'

1. Game is devolving into a PoE1 graphic update, with the promise of meaningful engaging combat going the window in favor of brainless 1 click zoomie zoomie screenwipe combat.

2. Visual clutter - Can't see anything going on with most builds, and lord help you if you're in a group where more than one person uses a skill. This is not only visually unpleasing, but it negates the entire concept of scripted boss fights, or any other scenario, where paying attention to what's going on matters, and funnels everyone to one shot high dps builds.

3. obnoxious unnecessary loot spam which turns the game into an inventory management simulator, they are apparently going in the opposite direction..

4. Ascendency imbalances

5. Combat mechanic imbalances (no reason to do anything other than +crit chance, + crit damage because it is vastly superior to DoT builds, minion builds,

6. Lack of true melee playstyle in the game, not just from continued postponement of swords, axes, etc. but because the only viable melee skills are functionally projectile AoE clearing skills...

I'm gonna stop now, just giving you my personal examples, there are so many things people have been asking for. No reason to clutter this thread by responding or debating your take on these. There are people who disagree with some of my takes not sure anyone disagrees on visual clutter, lack of a slider to turn down effects, being a massive problem though.

If you want to debate the issues or tell GGG you love the slop and dumbing down of the game coming in 0.5 the early access feedback forum seems like a more appropriate place. I'm just humoring the question of 'how could people possibly complain about what's coming....'

Cheers

Thank you bro. My question at least was not meant to be rage bait, just someone who does not read every single thread. I truly appreciate the tl:dr you gave me here.

Some of this I understand. A lot of people want new classes and weapons. But I would not go so far to say that this update is a total F because it lacks that. We know they are coming, just not as soon as some would like.

Balancing is a non-stop job in games like this. Every single patch has had balance changes (some good, some not). I am sure there will be balance changes in the patch notes if people would at least wait till having all the facts before the hard core 'I'm deleting the game' kinda posts. Don't get me wrong, disappointment or anticipation is all good, I'm talking about super negative comments that snap straight to 'f you ggg'.

Though another note on balancing, looking at just the few unique they have showed us so far, it looks like there WILL be more build types that are viable.

I can also understand you opinion on loot. I do think there is to much under leveled loot dropping. I hope in time they get that more balanced. Like at a certain point, dropping white bases is just un-needed. Mercents sell them in you want to craft, and if you want to just pick up something that might be an upgrade, well, they will never be an upgrade to anything you have.

Visual clutter. Yup, I see that too. I'm over 40 and don't have the best vision, and all the super bright lights can get quite overwhelming for me. Perhaps an accessibility option to tone down the visual clutter could help? You are quite right that once you hit the meta one shot builds, the visual clutter is overwhelming.

I can also see your point about the meanful combat. I am guessing you would be looking for something slower, more dark souls need to think about stuff ish? In that case I don't think an arpg is going to be able to do that with fodder mobs. Bosses on the other hand, that is where that would really make and impact and be really interesting. I hope the new bosses they are introducing in this patch have more of that, especially at higher levels.

I guess my own tl;dr would be that I do see your points. I think a lot of them are good, and would be good for the game. But I am willing to let GGG keep cooking. I don't expect everything at once. They do seem to be taking some steps toward some of the things you have listed here. At least with the little information we have now. Patch notes will tell more of the story with things like balance and bosses and unique. The point I am trying to make is that just because there are things that still need to be done, does not mean there did 'nothing' in this patch. Downplaying the work the devs put in is insulting to say the least. It can be not for you, it can be the opposite of what you wanted, you can even think it ruins the league for you, but there is no need to be insulting about it.
Big agree on tighting up the ToS. RMT needs to be disallowed/banned ext. It ruins the experience for everyone buy messing up the economy.

And speaking of that. Exploiters need a ban as well. The popular streamers that found this exploit (most of us know who they are) should have gotten a warning, then a ban if he didn't stop abusing the exploit he found. Perhaps not a perma ban, but least a league ban. Instead he made video's on it and tanked an entire leagues economy. That should not be tolerated.

I would not say ban first, because not everyone that find an exploit knows what they have run into, or that it is an exploit. People also won't know that the video a popular streamer posts is actually an exploit and not just some new strat, and I don't think they should be banned without a warning for that.

Appreciate the considerate reply. Agree the tone can be dialed down. Am used to engaging in too heated back and forth on some of these topics where many people are instantly dismissive of any criticism of the game they love or want to love. Will admit I am also generally irritated by how little dev/GGG engagement there is on the feedback forum, which makes it easier to justify dumping on them. Regardless, we don't have the full picture, or know all the constraints or pressures anyone who's making this game are working under, and it is after all just a game.

I am disappointed in where PoE2 seems to be heading because there was a lot of potential and many aspects that are well done and I like the genre. I'd be more willing to take a wait and see approach but there are just too many things trending the opposite way I'd have liked to see them go, and it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt. Will keep revisiting it every now and then to check on the updates, and see what's become of it, that is unless someone makes an ARPG more to my tastes.

Cheers for the answers! Im sure the patchnotes will show them adressing alot of the balancing issues for sure! As a minion / companion player (mostly) i expect the immolating / weaponswap to get wacked hard.

Ok.... release the Kraken earlier please!
GGG have got above and beyond, it’s sad how many people winge or complain. Path of exile 2 its by far the best game made in the century! The game is still in test not officially launched of course not everything is released! The game already has more than enough to sustain great gaming especially with all these new updates to end game. It’s also more exciting waiting for a new clsss as i guarantee not every person has tried every possible build, people will always find something to complain over instead of actually enjoying the game and what had been created!

Yes i predict a massive congaline of hotfixes when 1.0 drops! If the last acts, classes, weapons and skills / ascendencies will drop at 1.0 it will ecplise 0.5 in size for sure by alot! Atleast it feels like it considering just the time investement to sort 1 class nvm all the rest of the content.

They have a massive work ahead of them for the rest of the year, Exilecone will be very interesting to see how much ahead (or behind) they are. In any case i have faith in that the final 1.0 product will be good. If it will be great remains to be seen!

Where is next teaser? I need my daily fix.
