Breach going core is a bad idea!
|
If I remember correctly, Mark or Jonathan said that if people didn't like "new Breach", they weren't going to make it go core. So, GGG, are you 100% sure that "people" liked it? Do you have any statistics on how many Hive encounters that were being skipped the last month of the league?
The Genesis tree itself is also a reason for Breach going core is a bad idea. It makes so many other mechanics obsolete that it becomes (read: "Will feel") VERY mandatory. Essence farming, Rog farming, Harbinger farming... Goodbye. You REALLY have to nerf it quite a bit, you know that right? I hope you do. Ok, not a fan of Breach either. But Breach was always part of the core game, so it is not exactly surprising that the reworked version is introduced into the core game ;P
We trade convienient level opportunity 90-97 solo cheap breachstones or chayula rota etc and chayula splinter farming for better ssf/early trade item generation and for easier access to fractuerd items(which are mandatory ifg you want to get anywhere with non mirror affordable crafting). It is a win overall, imo if the tree is not nerfed significantly, although i see myself blocking breach here and there of course. But if the tree still delivers it is a blessing for early to midgame progression. Not everybody wants to go goblin cave until they have a mirror and buy stuff from organized crafters. The tree offers the possibility for people to actually play the game and craft their own gear and be able to beat at least all the non uber content with it. it is the best way of buffing ssf in a looong time and i say that as a player that is absolutely not a Breach fan. |

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, most mechanics get nerfed when going core so let's see the patch notes on this.
There were some things about new breach that worked well enough and you technically have "control" over what type of mech you get. I mean Harvest went core and nobody thought that was possible. |

" This. Grafts aren't going core and they were some of the worst power creep we've seen in a while, and there are going to be reworks to the Genesis Tree to make it work without wombgifts. The fact that GGG are depleting everyone's blood stores to zero also suggests a rework/rebalance to the tree recipes. Let's not all lose our minds before we see the patch notes, guys. |

" I disagree here, as I feel that the tree mostly skipped midgame progression completely. " No one is losing their minds, "they're" just speaking their minds. Anyhow, they are removing Grasps, which automatically depletes your blood. We all know (in my case; hope) that the tree will be nerfed, the question is if it will be nerfed enough. Step one: Remove the fractured node on the tree. Step two: Don't make me spec 2-5 extra points on the Atlas Tree to be sure I won't see a Breach encounter "wall" ever again. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Future leagues will contain breach walls.
Pretty good chance they won't contain me for long. |
|
" That's how I feel right now. Mandatory points to block Breach and Expedition. Just feels bad, man. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Old breach was a lot better. Not too excited about the tree either. It could be a nice way for alternative crafting but it would need to be a part of something else than breach and heavily modified.

I don't mind if the new breach makes it to the game. But I would love to see both hive and the defend breaches be deleted and never seen again. Those are horrible design alone, but with the walls they are unbearable. If the walls remain, I will always use an atlas tree point to make sure I don't need to see them ever again.

It's a bit early to say.
From what I've read, the Alilith defense event will be disabled and only the hive and unstable breach will remain, yes? If so, walls don't make sense. They might add just the hive entrance or the breach hand without any walls. If I read correctly and they're going to tweak other subpar (profit-wise) mechanics like delve or heist then I don't think anyone is going to care much about the tree. It's just another form of gamba (inferior to Kalguur) and a somewhat convenient way to get decent loot mid-game (I don't think fractured mods are that strong, most fractured mods that you'll reasonably get gambling with the tree are sold for cheap anyway) without browsing ground loot like a dog (as a controller player I appreciate this). Cheers! |
