fix rate for chaos / divine exchange , like coin/bill

For Standard and the next leagues GGG can set up an infinite pool of currency at a given rate (the one in current standard league to not spoil players) GGG bank buy 1 div for 250c , sell at 255C , (2% margin, and several gold coins if needed) This will stop inflation and discrepancies betweens servers around the world, and normal players can trade without being spoiled buy professional traders :-) GGG must do this quietly without announce before in standard, and at the start a new leagues. Gateways do not affect the currency exchange. They do not have different rates. They do not vary by server. Every single orb is a realtime currency listing from a player.

this will never happen. its not a free market if they did this.
and normal players arent being screwed by high level players or RMT cartels. u profit from the spread not the price, expensive/cheap does not affect trading profits. even in real life what u suggested does not exist for stocks or commodities, only in bonds when fed was doing QE infinity. trade the spread not the price. " The rate exange DOES vary from server to server : I checked this morning number of chaos for 1 divine, in one minute or so (just time go get back to login creen change server, connect and see faustus) Paris : 253 c for 1 divine California : 240 c Singapore : 230 c In real life, the number of coins i get for a bank note does not vary from day to day ! I see this like Divine is a 250$ bank note, and chaos is 1$ coin. |

" You tell wrong things. 1/ IT does affect my profit/loss, as my 130c stuff was worth 1d last week, and only half a divine today ! 2/ IRL he exchange rate for one 100$ bank note is always 100 1$ coin ! Last edited by Dolgrund#5637 on Oct 20, 2025, 8:16:36 AM

" What i suggest is just an anchor, like for elo rating, to prevent drift, and fixing only one ratio : divine/chaos like bank-note/coin edited : i add "like coin/bill" in title to clarify Last edited by Dolgrund#5637 on Oct 20, 2025, 8:31:37 AM

" And that is your mistake. Divines are € and Chaos are $ in your analogy. And their exchange rate is fluctuating all the time. https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/policy_and_exchange_rates/euro_reference_exchange_rates/html/eurofxref-graph-usd.en.html Your example is more like Chaos and Chaos shards. And those do not fluctuate but exchange in a fixed rate. |

I think of chaos and divine as a currency, not two diffenrent countries currencis (who may have or not varying exchange rate). My point is last week with my 130 chaos i could buy a nice 1 divine amulet, and today i cannot, this is unexpected. The problem with only one reference = chaos and no anchor is that the system will drif (inflate/deflate) without limit, for sure. See the trend, the ratio in standard just rise durring summer holidays, when many players level up, loot, and _change_ chaos currency to divine for easier trading. It has nothing to do with the value of the divine, it is just a bug in trading stuff. It is exactly like elo system, without anchor = at least 2 fixed points the system drifts. Just way until next summer or the following, and the POE currency system in standard league will explode for sure. |

" And that is a fundamental mistake. They are destinct currencies with fundamentally different uses and as such see different amounts of usage. " Maybe that is unexpected to you. But that is how markets work. If the Dollar crashes tomorrow, a price in Euro will not have changed. You may no longer have the nessescary funds to convert enought dollar into Euro to make your purchase, but thats normal market behaviour. Also Standard market crashed instantly in July, when the ONE YEAR LONG Settlers league migrated. A massive correction was obvious. Its not like the market jumped out of nowhere. This was allready discussed broadly before the merge happened. " It is not one single reference. You have every currency the game offers as reference. And guess what: Almost all of them spiked in the same way, when Settlers was migrated because it pushed a massive amount of currency into standard in one go instead of 3-4 smaller bumps, because settlers ran for about 3-4 times as long as other leagues. " I would rather say noone removes the excess chaos in standard because its a graveyard, where a Chaos in inself does not get you anywhere. But the solution it not a fixed trading ratio, which would in turn hurt every currency valued above the Chaos as its value gets hardrealined, it's a meaningful sink for players to get rid of the stockpiled Chaos. Actually we saw this in Mercenaries economy quite well. When T16.5 Maps rolled as high value 8mod corrupted, way less Chaos were used rolling Maps. The Chaos devalued, as it got less use. When the fix for the T16.5 Maps happened, the market corrected as more Chaos were used again. |

" You are confused sir. Fiat currency IRL and crafting orbs being used as currency in a free market enabled game, are 2 very different things. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”
