New tier of currency items is an awful idea imo and thats why
3:1 causes more problems than it solves imo.
This game already currently struggles to encourage players to craft early. Also crafting is SO rng in this game. More than POE1 because you have to pick up 100s of bases; recomb; wash rinse. Nobody is going to be crafting with low tier currency outside of hitting random items while leveling. Once hitting maps people would HOARD all low currency and 3:1 to the highest currency to buy all of their items off the new async AH OR ignore the currency and remove it from their filter entirely. There is no point in crafting in this game because every step (outside of essences) and really high end crafting with whittles is PURE RNG. I think the OP makes some good points and we'd have to see how it shakes out. IMO, nobody crafts in this game anyway and most people are literally selling LUCKY drops (not using orbs) if they are casuals. The crafting currency is just too damn rare to preserve the economy. This struggle is not as prevalent in POE because that game is much, much easier. I think a game with this difficulty (especially for newer players), doesn't do well with the constant pull to save currency rather than using it. Nerfing a large chunk of skills, runes, and base items for 0.3 doesn't help the situation either. Last edited by Prizy#1622 on Aug 20, 2025, 11:30:50 PM

You should really replace these generalizations of the player base with the truth, what you will do.
I crafted during start on both 0.1.0 and 0.2.0. I craft as I level every character. I don't horde crafting currency in this delusion that it will somehow help me later, because the reality is that it doesn't. The 10-15 Exalted Orbs I use during leveling doesn't amount to a vast wealth that propels me forward in endgame. Do they always work out? Of course not. That's the name of the game in an ARPG. Success is not guaranteed. I know plenty of players that do the same thing, I've had conversations with many of them in #Global. These items are meant to be used. Use them. The game is more fun when you stop thinking of everything in terms of money and trading power, and just play with the cards dealt to you. The second you get that first Divine, none of that hording has any value at all. Last edited by Polantaris#1920 on Aug 20, 2025, 11:08:14 PM

" Agreed. 3-1-ing these currencies will quickly devolve into a huge waste of time and no one will ever want to do it past white maps. In the end lesser/medium tier currencies will only ever be useful within the first week of a league, and it will definitely smooth out progression, which is nice. But very quickly it will be trash tier currency even less worth a click than a fusing orb. We will all filter them out and only care for greater and perfect. I do believe greater and perfect exalts will be useful for crafting, but lower tiers will only be campain trash. Abyss crafting and new essences will be the game changer Last edited by LFA01#0120 on Aug 20, 2025, 11:15:40 PM

" I didnt really talk about crafting in my 1rst post, but for me its pretty obvious as you said, that this new tier of currencies wont be used (after few days) to craft. And again, its because even if Im sure to get the best tier of affix while crafting with a perfect exalted orb, I cant choose what affix it would be. Imo, the abyss mecanism is by far, more interested to craft around. Cause its deterministic and players would use it. So greater and perfect orbs wont be used as crafting tools, but as currencies to exchange items. And it would be a mess with all this new currencies to properly put a price on an item. Normal exalted (and maybe normal chaos) would be abandonned by players (and they wont take it anymore after few days playing) and so, players would say after few days : "Patch 0.3 is awful, I dont loot anything...". Pretty sure Neversink would make a filter to avoid seeing normal exalted and maybe normal chaos anymore... |
