GGG has a Ben problem.

lol @ complaining because someone is better than everyone else.....and has REMAINED better than everyone else for years.

You know what that takes? Skill. Skill, practice, time, and SKILL.


Consider ANY competition in the world. In the NFL, do they just "not let" the super bowl winners participate the following year? In Chess tournaments, do they "not let" the top grandmaster play anymore? How about esport teams? Poker? Music competitions? The Olympics?

No.....because it is the job of the other players to unseat Ben. And they have simply been unable to. You REALLY think Ben has more game knowledge than steelmage? Or any of those other 10-year vets? No......but he does have more mechanical skill and reflexes.


If those other players truly cared and wanted to beat him....they could easily practice night and day until they do. And tbh Ben doesn't ALWAYS win. He does have some pretty tight competition at his level. It's just minimal because no one else, most especially Kopo, want to be able to do what he does....with no effort or practice or investment of time.


Any player, new or old, can spend a few weeks ONLY reading the wiki, ONLY watching videos and talks, ONLY trolling the tons and tons of reddit posts out there.....and memorize every single thing about the game: how to race, how to build a strong character, how defense layering works, what skills outperform, etc. They just choose NOT to do that because their goal isn't winning some arbitrary tournament. If it WAS.....then that's what it takes. That's what Ben did long ago, and likely every league to get acclimated to changes. And because he's well-practiced, it takes him a shorter time to grasp.

you mean people that take what others consider fun leisure activity and make it their job and do everything to succeed in it wreck it for everyone else? shocking

btw this is NOT a problem for GGG, actually its exact opposite since they want to drive up traffic to twitch/streams and don't want people actually participating in those events. This is not GGGs fault its just the landscape of such things have drastically changed in last 10-20 years.

Ben being good is not a bad thing for GGG.

GGG do indeed have a "ben" problem. It's just not for poe1.

If professional gamers are competiting, fellow gamers would most likely lose to these professional gamers. Probably why Professional athletes are not allowed to compete in amateur competition. As this demotivate other players from taking part as others have no chance of winning.

As The Gauntlet event is hosted by Zizaran. Professional gamers who will win often will do so. This is more of a issue that Zizaran might not see this as a problem as a fellow Professional gamer.

It is probably more about fairness. The issue of Professionals competing with the amateurs in competition.

They should determine the winner by playing Hong Kong Mahjong. Even a skilled POE player like Ben can still end up with a bad hand at Mahjong.

Result would be that racers/players can't do their usual test runs and need to adapt each new league start.

What we really have is a poe is old problem. Not sure there is a solution to it might just have to be the way it is. Ben winning event after event is mostly because the game stays the sameish each league because he is the best ssf hc player right now. I'm not really even sure how you make the game different enough for ben to not be the winner and I'm pretty sure we shouldn't do that anyway.

One solution I see is to limit the amount of time people can play to more reasonable time frame that way the god tier players that can only play the game for 3-5 hours a day have a chance. This option is btw awful for poe views on twitch and the games popularity overall. Streamers would hate it.
