how to NOT get one shotted in this game?

You will still get one shotted by things. Positioning is also important.

To sum up your build in one item: You're using a granite flask with attack leech on a build that does not use attacks and has zero armour scaling. That's a fully dead flask slot right away and flasks are one of the defensively strongest slots of a build.
Mistakes are normal. People with gear worth thousands of divines still make them. Blaming rather than improving isn't the right choice though but that's up to you. |

I have a lot of suggestions and ideas for one-shots and deaths in general for that game and you.
Suggestions that dont have anything to do with items: 1)Buy some omes that prevent 75% xp loss and do a lot of easy/medium difficulty maps till you reach lvl 100. At level 100 death means nothing so it wont bother you because you wont lose your progress. 2)Just dont mind dying. Pick whatever you like to do, like fully jucied T17 maps and just do them with your build at whatever state it is, and just roll as it is. If you die you die ,if you manage to complete it deathless the better. Suggestions that have to do with impoving you build, (items/tree included). Before I add anything here, I have to say that my mindset about items are exactly like yours. Just because you have one flask off, that means NOTHING. Nobody (maybe only 0.0001% of cases) ever changed 1 flask and suddently became immortal. That's fantasy realm.It is human mentality.The other way ofcourse holds true. If you remove an item that gives lets say 40% chaos resistance and replace it with something that gives -10% chaos resistance, you become dead. 1)Improve little by little your items and the pathing of your tree. See what works, how it feels, how it behaves. Then you can invest harder. Example from my experience: I didnt believe that having 10% of physical damage taken as some element would do anything. But anyway I added that to a build of mine. I did like 20 fully juiced t16 maps. Then I started wondering, am I playing better or the effect works? Is it placebo or it works? So I decided to go all in and I bought a watcher's eye that gave another 22%physical taken as some element in total, combined with the previous 10% suddently the build became very solid. That was the proof I needed. Now I know better. But it came gradualy, I tested it. 2)So you test one thing and it feels slightly better, but you still get one-shoted.Now you test another thing and see what's what. After that you twick something else, and now you have balanced more than one aspect. See how all those little changes synergize and what defense outcome they have. Are you satisfied? Invest harder in them. To close up, a year later I only deep delve. Other content is irrelevant. I only die on maven game, not even those balls in T17 maps can kill me. But it doesnt matter, because now I only delve. I die more times than ever before though, but I accept it, it is part of delving with my build. You stay a milisecond in darkness you die, you missread the modes in a node you die. You though it only had double extra elemental damage with onslaught and attack speed but you missed the other line that said 12% elemental penetration... I die. Instantly, forever..
