I never said Standard isn't the "actual game"

You're implying it here:

How exactly does watching someone trivialize content with mirror-tier gear provide useful balance data for the actual game?

And if that wasn't your implication, it's even worse: you're somehow claiming that playing a game with gear made in that game before some arbitrary cutoff date isn't useful data for balancing that gear in that game.

Neat, but guess what? We're talking about Standard. The data from Standard players IS representative of how new content performs in Standard. In fact, it is MORE representative than how it would perform in a spinoff league.

And no, SSF doesn't "blow my argument out of the water" - SSF players in Standard still have access to legacy items and old crafting systems that don't exist in league anymore. That's not the same testing environment as current league mechanics.

See above: we're talking about Standard. Implementing the content in Standard provides more valuable data for gauging how said content performs in Standard.

You keep saying I'm misrepresenting your stance, but then you literally just proved my point by admitting the data is only valuable "for Standard." That's exactly the problem - balance decisions need to be made for the current game state, not for people playing with discontinued mechanics.

You pivot from implying Standard isn't the actual game to now just claiming it isn't current.

Counterargument: Standard is current for those who play in Standard!

You're hopelessly lost.
Oh please. You're the one who's lost here, desperately trying to make Standard sound like it matters for actual balance decisions.
Your "counterargument" is circular nonsense - "Standard is current for Standard players" tells us absolutely nothing about whether that data is useful for balancing the game everyone else is playing. It's like saying "my local house rules are current for my house" when we're discussing tournament meta.
The fact that you keep dodging the core issue - that legacy gear and discontinued mechanics create a fundamentally different testing environment - shows you know your position is weak. You can bold and underline all you want, but it won't change the reality that GGG balances around league mechanics, not whatever frankenstein builds people cobbled together years ago.
Nice try though.

You're proving my point. You don't consider Standard as legitimate, therefore you don't want it to receive anything more than it already does.

I've done the opposite:I have stated multiple times that the environments are different and that Standard data is more useful for Standard.

what joke, 0.3 by the end of august 2025???
1.0 will be out in 2030 at this pace
Honestly this is is pretty slow for a pre-release version of the game which you ask money for and have overpriced microtransactions already built into it. It was supposed to be released in 1 year which now seems out of the questions and you're looking like juggling the same team between your new game and your 10+ years old game.

4 month (really 5 months in this case) cycle is really for when the game is fully out with all the acts and decent balance.
This game will take over two years at EA. GGG doesn't deliver on any of its promises.

They said POE 1 and 2 would have separate teams, a lie.
They said the game would have constant updates, a lie.
They said the classes would be balanced, a lie.
They said the game would be highly optimized, a lie.

In the end, what matters is raising money and deceiving the community, keeping quiet and releasing MTX.

But GGG has champions who defend it.
I'm taking it that there will be no mid season patch addressing balance then anymore? And hopefully we get some new weapon types or more skills for the existing weapons.
One has to wonder why the people that are so driven to point out how wrong someone is in thinking their opinion is the right one, are also always the ones with absolute conviction in their own opinions

May the best one win gents :)

poe 2 disappointed me so much and poe 1 amuses me so much that I expect nothing from poe 2 that you wanted different from the 1 while all the good ideas have been fruitful for 10 years! I don't even follow the news or the patches anymore... something I never did in the 1! The problem is not so much the game it's the vision of the game and the slow and failed gameplay! I even miss the 6 link! Why remove that, it was so much richer in build than your rotten and bland system... the map system too and less good, in the 1 you choose what you want when you want in the 2 you suffer maps that you don't like... but who thought of these systems??? certainly not real poe players! if your game does not change the concept it will know the same fate as diablo 4...
Please rework the Trade system that is horrible, noone respond to whisper.
