Popular Opinion: In 3.28 League Challenges Should Require Solo Completion

"
man, ex, you are REALLY not digesting what you yourself are writing.

Some WILL quit: every single change, from small to large, will inevitably rub SOMEONE the wrong way. But as the saying goes, you cannot make any progress without breaking a few eggs. And to be perfectly honest, if folks quit because they don't want to try to get mtx, and their only reason for playing is free mtx.......good riddance.

The game is what's important.

the reason why i m not digesting what you have to say can be summed up with your last paragraph. you literally dont care for a group of players that enjoy poe a certain way and would celebrate their departure.

you've failed to see why free mtx exist in the first place.

originally ggg was fucking stingy. giving us ugly recolours of seraph armor. i m not sure why but i m guessing that they didnt want to devalue their current mtx for sale. the results were kinda expected. the number of players who actually played leagues could have been low.

but when they realized that temp leagues brought players back to their game, which lead them to see all the new mtx/supporter packs available. they made the free mtx as a way of giving players a reason to come back.

free mtx is a form of marketing. who ever it was that convinced ggg to produce high quality mtx should get a raise. they've been doing it for years and sometimes i even use the mtx rewards in poe as a benchmark to compare other games. "poe gives out these mtx FOR FREE, what does this game sell? meh looks crappy compared to poe". sometimes i dont give a damn about the league but come in anyway just for the league rewards.

i am a fucking whale. my name is in poe credits.

and i m currently someone who still relies on carries IF i want full 40/40. thankfully i m good enough that i can get 36/40 by myself and i dont really chase 40/40 but being able to get carries help speed up my process.

you would prefer i dont play poe? you would prefer i dont give ggg money? you say i cant digest. because from a marketing/sales point of view, what you're asking for is for ggg alienate a portion of their playerbase and take a huge risk for no real return.

i've pointed out a few times that ggg themselves no longer give exclusive rewards for harder challenges. have you ever wondered why that is the case?

They don’t?? That’s exactly why all of their race events are HC exclusive. It’s a clear signal that GGG cares about rewarding skill and challenge, not handing out goodies for shortcuts or easy content.

This is exactly why it would make sense for GGG to focus on improving challenges, putting rewards behind content that’s actually fun and engaging rather than boring stuff most players skip or hate. While they’re at it, they could also invest in HC-exclusive rewards, giving some love to the people who actually play and succeed in the harder mode.

They also don't do it as often because there are far more player-driven competitions that offer exclusive rewards and accolades. Why should they duplicate it when the players took it upon themselves? It's a waste of their efforts.

That's why GGG also never implemented their own PoB-like program.....because someone else did it for them.

They would be absolute idiots not to capitalize on free labor.

About two months until 3.28, which gives roughly two months to think about and implement meaningful, well thought out changes to the challenge system.

It's time to push for even more improvements, GGG!

You should still get credit for challenges if do bosses with a friend or pay for a carry service absurd to think otherwise. Just removing another reason for party play if you do that.

Good.

Its not happening, because if it did a lot of people would quit and that would be minus revenue for the game, which is bad.

Carries are extremely popular, and a huge part of SC Trade's economy. Every league probably thousands of people buy challenge carries, boss carries, voidstone carries, exp leech groups and so on. People make their builds to carry bosses/t17s all league and make hundreds of divs doing that lol, can't just delete such a huge part of the game. Its emergent gameplay, and its amazing. This is an online game after all, so ofc party play will happen and carries will happen just like in most MMOs.

Buying a carry is a choice, and there's no reason to take that choice away from everyone. That would go against player agency. Can't wait to pay people my hard-earned divines for more carries in 3.28.
