Why do I have to verify that I am human for viewing my own account??
Ownership is a defined term. You do not own the account you use to play PoE. You acquire a license to access the service which may be revoked at any time. When you sign up you agree to ToC that allow GGG to collect necessary data about you.
If you wish for your data to be removed from GGG‘s servers you may file for it and GGG has to comply with the request. However, that inevitably means „your“ account will be closed in the process.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
Account is not your personal data, it may display it, but it is not same thing.
"My" account contains personal data of me. And no - an account doesnt display data - "merely" or otherwise. The website may display data though.
yes, "your" account contains your personal data, but your personal data is not "your" account. Its a bit like "All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares." You "own" personal data, you don't really "own" account as it consist multiple things, not only your personal data.
As you noticed, you only own part of "data" that is personal data. And no, GDPR has nothing to with what you claim it does.

You also call it "my" account.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Why are you still implying that I claim I "own" my account?

Dont know if this is serious or not but if it is: The account contains some of my personal data. According to GDPR (and similar) this is my data and not GGGs (GGG has limited rights on what to do with it unlike me) so I think its fair to call it my account.
You really need to read Terms of Use, paragraph 4 and 14. The 14th states: "For the avoidance of doubt, you acknowledge that you will have no ownership rights in your Member Account, including without limitation any Virtual Items connected with such Member Account."
You really need to read (paraphrasing you) the GDPR. GDPR and similar laws trumps whatever is in ToS and similar. And they also apply to free accounts.
You claimed that Terms of Use, paragraph 4 and 14 are invalidated by GDPR, but you was wrong, as they're not colliding with each other.

You clearly implied that your data, means it is your account, because, as you claimed, so state GDPR (but it doesn't).

Yes, data collection is limited by laws & regulations. Trust me, I'd know.
And no to the other part. Me saying "your account" does not imply you own the account. I had already explained why this way of thinking is overly simplistic with another real life example.

I dont see any claiming of ownership. Edit: "ownership of account".

No I didnt claim that. One point I was trying to make was to say that quoting ToS cannot answer such questions. The other one was the relevance of GDPR in easily showing that GGG doesnt own personal user information. And yes I didnt make either of those clear but I dont think what I wrote is wrong.
