For the people that have unable to verify: i had it too. Go one back, to where your see your list of connections on the poe account page. and behind the twitch connection, you see the option remove. You click it here too, and then you get the option to readd the connection.
So the breaking connection thing, you need to both do on twitch page as well as poe website. Not just twitch website.

I Know I used it once to claim some challange reward which I didn't receive at the time.
Worked for the twitch reward too.
