[3.26] Ice Dancing God - Icestorm/Cyclone/CI - Viable For Everything

What's the point of ball lightning then? Is there something better I can use?

Frost Bomb is stationary. Ball Lightning is a projectile that will Hextouch-double-curse the far side of a pack (and every mob in between) before you get there.
Lol i thought to get try to whispering ice in poe2...like lvling with it but it requires 75 lvl -_-. F

level requirement depends on what level skill it gives. Maybe it is possible lower level staffs can drop, but no one has made new characters after WI was added so no low level staffs has dropped.

seems 75 lvl min version...well gona try it anyway.but i think it gona be bad without ES leech etc )
Is there anywhere to discuss WI in POE2? I just hit maps and bought a WI. Trying to get ideas on how to build it. There's like 3 people using it on POE ninja. Curious what others are doing.

I've tried it between the leagues

In 0.3 they removed the idiotic restriction on 1 copy of each support gem. But there is still no ES leech. And no triggering while moving. The play style we enjoy in PoE 1 just does not exist in PoE 2 yet.

Also, Frost Wall got nerfed. Stormweaver got changed. The chilling aura on the staff got buffed and chills better. The best class for WI right now is probably Ritualist. Just because you get an additional ring.

The minimum required level on the staff is definitely 75. And they are cheap as dirt. Which says a lot. Nobody is playing it because it's not good. Especially compared to attack skills.

I'm playing (and streaming) a Hollow Palm Invoker in 0.3. The biggest meta seems to be Deadeye. Attackers are so much better than spell casters right now in PoE 2, there is just no reason to even try something like WI. Other than for pure academic interest.

Well, I've just finished the 0.3 league much faster than expected:
Day 7: The Uber Arbiter
What an anti-climax. And the other endgame bosses were similar. Hollow Palm is OP. A new thing in PoE is too strong (and will be nerfed in the next league). This has never happened before! (sarcasm)

Anyway, since I planned to spend a lot more time in PoE 2, perhaps I should do something for the science - try WI again. But this time without kiting and hiding behind frost walls. Even if there is nothing like Cyclone-CwC in PoE 2, I still want to try a caster tank.

There is one very special class that does have spell leech - Blood Mage. He cannot be CI because he uses life to cast spells. Having a smaller hp pool and dealing with chaos damage is annoying. But he got buffed in 0.3 overall.

I'm going to give it a try. Getting to lv 75 will probably be very boring. But the staff is super cheap. And non-meta gear should be easy enough to obtain.

A new adventure begins! It will be streamed, as usual. Let's see how it goes.

Im running t15 maps just winging a WI Sorc. There’s not much out there to go on so I’ve been piecing together defensive ideas from other people playing CI and just picking nodes that look good for damage. Focusing on crit. Here’s my character.

https://poe.ninja/poe2/builds/abyss/character/Dixon2010-1052/WhisperingICERaid?i=22&search=items%3DThe%2BWhispering%2BIce

The Zarokh’s support gem has been pretty solid. Just switched to it yesterday. Adds a cooldown but the cast repeats. It’s really nice. I originally was using two reduced duration supports based on what i saw on a reddit post about reduced duration condensing the improved bolts. That seemed to be the play. Primarily using Ice Nova to freeze then ice storm into packs to blow them up. It’s also helpful on bosses. It might be worth investing into freeze buildup for bossing because ice storm on a frozen boss consuming the freeze is massive damage.

I’m not using the CoC comet right now. It was pretty solid when i was using it but went with a higher ES chest. Ele weakness on blasphemy is really nice QOL.

I have no idea if stacking int is worth it or not. My hunch is, no. But I’m doing it anyway because i like stackers. It’s a lot harder to stat stack in poe 2.

I’ve been wanting to try using that unique amulet that turns life regen into ES regen. Would have to recraft my rings and body armour to find some flat life regen and then switch the tree to grab regen rate nodes for it to feel good i think. Getting more spirit and vitality would be nice too. But it’s an option if you go CI. For now, es regen rate and faster start of es regen feels fine with 10k es.

I paid 2d for a perfect level 19 staff so it’s super cheap. It does suck that you can’t get it for leveling.

Would be curious to see how others build it. I’m having a blast and it’s tanky and has good damage. You won’t get the clear of a deadeye or hollow palm monk but if you like WI in poe1, it’s viable in poe2.
PoE 2 Version

This is the best I could come up with after 4 days of playing it. Very similar to the PoE 1 self-cast version. Sadly, there is nothing like Cyclone-CwC in PoE 2. And only 1 class that can leech from spell damage, and it has to be life-based, can't go CI with it and have 10k ES. But it does work decently well anyway. It does not require hiding behind frost walls or avoiding ranged packs. The goal was to make a tanky caster that can waltz through maps leaving death and destruction in its wake, just like in PoE 1. And that's what it does.

And maybe they will eventually add ES leech and cast while moving.

Can you point me to that reddit post please? I can't find it.
