(3.16) NERFED DO NOT PLAY THIS Raider Archmage BF/BB [CHEAP, Tanky, HCSSF viable, (100m+ dps)

" it's being spammed on hcssf ladder at a competitive level and the discord has 750 members, typically the people that are having a bad time are the most likely to submit feedback. Even then, most of the forum testimonials are very solid. Necro what? Archmage? Damage is pretty awful. Last edited by ChemistHCSSF on Apr 26, 2021, 12:10:44 AM

"I literally just described my current gear, and one shotted at T13? I can't get one shot STANDING STILL in T13. Looked at your gear. Flasks are mangled. No damage reduction flask. No Quartz for dodge. Two life flasks on a build with nearly 2k life recovery from Agnostic? You're running CWDT & Immortal Call - you realize that scuffs your Arcane Cloak? Your damage mitigation and dodge is way below what it should be. Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

" Literally every horror story I've seen posted so far is due to player error. Folks are mucking about with the build without taking into account the consequences. The flasks are important. The gem links are important. The Amulet anointment is important. None of these are expensive by any stretch, however, if you follow the guide, it all works. And here's a testimonial. I'm slowly getting better gear, I'm still running gear that's only decent for sceptres, amulet, ring, boots and gloves. Helmet needs a lab enchant. Haven't bought jewel sockets on the tree, and my belt is a cloth base. I'm sure I can come up with other improvements if I think for longer than a few minutes - haven't maxxed out my Pantheon, for instance. Anyway. Despite all that, not only am I crushing red map content, I'm also rescuing guildmates when they get too overconfident with their own maps, so I can carry red content at least to 2 player parties. Is this as crazy powerful as the recent metas? I'm not entirely sure, we're only barely past a week into the league, and my gear is nowhere near optimal. However, I will say this for a fact - the description in the thread title is 100% accurate. This build is cheap and it's incredibly tanky. I spent less than 2ex to get to high end red maps. The only reason I'm into this for nearly 10ex now is the 6L Cloak of Defiance. I am incredibly happy with this build, it's awesome, and Chemist deserves some serious karma for posting it, keeping it up to date, and answering questions. I can't imagine he's getting as much actual play time as he is forum posting time! :) Current league IGN: Teldra_Anc_LAD

Yeah, some people here act like this build is bad but it's definitely not.
It is very tanky while still having good damage. Yes, I die from time to time but that is mostly me just being stupid. Even Tier16 Ultimatums are usually no problem. Currently trying out Mistwall but I feel like it's for the most part not even needed and I prefer the extra damage. The only thing I don't like is my Mana reg. Especially on single target you get to low mana too fast which then leaves you more vulnerable to enemy hits as well. You can't just spam your attacks on bosses, you have to space them out a bit to refill some mana. During mapping/Ultimatums that is no problem since the 2% Mana on kill is just very powerful. On a side note: I'm honestly wondering what I have a Mana flask for. 1500 mana over 5 seconds is so little, it really doesn't help much when you run low. | |
I just don't understand how to deal with the mana problems on bosses. It's pretty tanky and the damage when there is stuff to kill is good but I died to Drox because I literally couldn't sustain my mana.

" I agree. This build is true to what is described in the OP, however it is certainly NOT beginner friendly. I think people came here thinking this build will get you rolling through T16 100% delirious maps in 1day on budget gear using only your left mouse button and maybe one other key. However it's quite the opposite, you have to press a lot of keys, you have to use your abilities correctly and know the boss fights to survive, because you will not going to oneshot bosses on a budget with this. I also enjoy playing the build in SSF, gearing is hard now without proper harvest and had some hard times (especially breaking trough red maps), but it is capable. I did my first Sirus in a somewhat shitty gear and Tabula for the record. So thanks again Chemist for the guide and for taking time to answer the same questions all the time :) One more thing: Personally, I wouldn't recommend using Agnostic before getting a corrupting blood jewel, because ultimatums can and will generate a lot of rares, and if you run a nemesis map, you just can't sustain. Did my first Sirus (A5) of the league, easily deathless and zero issues with survivability or sustain. However, the fight took a long time due to my damage. I also only died twice on the grind to Sirus, both of them due to ultimatum trials. As someone who usually averages over a dozen deaths on league starters, this is definitely a personal best for me.
I stuck with Replica Mistwall the entire way through and damage definitely plateau'ed past T13 maps. In hindsight, would definitely recommend going dual sceptres at that point as you will need the damage. Gear is nothing special, just generic life/mana/resist rares - most of my 6ex-ish budget went towards getting a good Stygian Vise, Foible and Mistwall (all of which have significantly fallen in price since I bought them). Not sure if I want to take this build further. It definitely performs well given its budget, but the playstyle is just wearing on me a bit now. I kind of want to re-roll to something that doesn't require as many active skills to keep track of. Last edited by scrambled777 on Apr 26, 2021, 6:10:21 AM

" one thing i've always done with mistwall was swap to double sceptre for bossing, you don't lose that much tankiness because boss fights usually gib so EHP isn't that important past 400k ele 300k phys (which is easily achievable without mistwall. Until i'm sitting at about 180k avg hit per blade i usually run a nice spell block shield with spell damage, mana and life so i don't lose much damage and I stay tanky. |

" I guess people think just throwing a build together without thinking is the builds fault. I've just been running with just a enduring mana flask and I've had no problems with survivability. I still have a life flask cause I'm lazy. Literally just keep Arcane cloak up and you should be ok. Flasks definitely should be looked into if you keep dying.
