[3.25] One shot Tectonic Slam Chieftain. Great Damage and Survivability. Melting all content.

Thoughts on swapping tectonic slam for vaal ground slam with the updates? I assume there will be a couple other support gem changes but I think overall it would work pretty similar in this build?
Hi all, great looking build. I am looking to play this in 3.14 but found it curious that none of the streamers have recommended tectonic chieftain as a potential starter (or not that I have seen).

For those that have played the build - what are the key reasons or limitations that you think would dissuade people from recommending this build? Play style? Speed? Tankyness?

I mucked around with a EQ Bleed Gladiator and liked the play style with shouts+slams but disliked the bleed mechanic on bosses. I tend to commit to the builds I start with so I just want to know what I am getting myself into :-)

I guess, but the question about Vitality extraction and lifetap still stands, it adds pretty good layer of life regen. Atleast for early maps before we get cinderswallow.

Well then you can test it and tell us how it does. We already have a good ammount of regen just from being chieftain and tbh i dont know what we could remove to adapt this or if we can adapt this at all and tbh im not even gona try to make this work as swaping from non crit to crit is somthing we will still do within those 15-20ex, if it proves good it may be added but tbh i just dont see it.

Im not so sure about that because we have only 50% phys to fire on tree (ascendancy) and the rest (60% though only 50% needed) comes from tectonic slam. to make that work you would need to get the avatar of fire (1 point). Though normal ground slam does ~30-50% less dmg compared to tectonic slam and im not sure if buffed vaal ground slam would make up for it either.

Edit.

Tbh they mostly just give you meta builds and thats it, they know theier audience may have difficulty using slams with all the warcries. This build is just not meta enough for mainstream.

As for your questions : This build has decent clear speed when invested into, is quite tanky thanks to being chieftain and has really high dmg though yea warcries = more than 1 button so too hard. If you played EQ bleed then this build will be similar but better as you wont need to deal with dots at all, you just slam once or twice and problem gone. As guide shows with just few exalts you will be clearing all red maps no issues and once you swap to crit then shaper, elder or whatever boss you want is just a food for you.

I really hope no streamer picks this up, prices instantly suck if they do.

I've run this on HC through the campaing with Limbsplitter fated to Cauterizer, it's so much fun when your Leap Slam just clears packs for 2-3 acts xD and yes, i leap slam through the story.

I hardly need the warcries for normal packs anyway, only on bosses and Leap Slam gives me xp while "ignoring" everything through the zones.

It is easier if you get another weapon around Level 25-30 but i've used Limbsplitter up to 40 sucessfully and the Cauterizer is good till Act 10 where you can replace it if you want to go fast again.

Anyone planning to use staff?
Is this guide going to be updated for 3.14? There really wasn't much change right? mainly multiplier for seismic cry and some very slight numerical nerfs to some defense?

This builds gear is all based on staffs from the mid budget version onwards so i guess anyone who wants to play this build is planning to use staff.

Nothing really changed for this build to make any big changes in the core of this build but JennoJoyce (Creator of this build) will be updating it as he plays as he wants to do some changes to make it more tanky but most likely nothing will change early on (early mapping to non-crit budget)

oh, my bad, hadn't seen that part

ty and good luck in the league :]
I wounder between Staff block attack damage or Block spell.
If we have 90% physical reduction, spell block should be better right?

I will just copy what is already written in the guide... (Gears -> Mid-budget Crit -> Weapon...

There are 4 staff bases I recommend, depending on your preference:

Maelström Staff : This is for defense purpose, if you want to max out your attack block, then choose this base. The drawback is we won't get much spell block, so we are still vulnerable to spells, which is quite common in end-game.

Judgement Staff : This is for defense purpose too, choosing this won't help us max out any block chance, however, it can give us a good balance of block chances. We can reach 55% attack block and 40% spell block with this.

Ezomyte Staff : This staff has the highest base crit chance among all warstaffs, it will help us reach 100% crit chance easier while providing decent attack block chance in the meantime.

Eventuality Rod : This is for offense purpose, it has the best base damage and it provides additional charge which increases our AOE and crit chance. On the other side, there is little defense benefit (besides the additional endurance charge).

What staff to use totally depends on your own preference, however, on a more practical note, considering the difficulty in getting the item, I suggest you to use whatever you can find. At least that's what I did :)

Edit. People please check the guide instead of jumping to the POB's because a lot of the things you ask are already there... JennoJoyce made a really good guide where he explained a lot of things just read it...
