if HoI does decent, you can use that till you get a splode chest. I think they're going to be very hard to get. they were pricey in 3.10 and now there are considerably more builds utilizing them.

he advised vinktar+inpulsas for budget, but that would only explode the initial pack, not propagate them out.

Storm's gift gloves + inpulsa's should explode much like the chest. but you lose about 1 million DPS.

in the paste bin below i made the following changes:
-removed wacthers eye
-removed gloves, added storm's gift and inpulsa
-removed one of the + 1 to levels on the amulet
-removed unnatrual instinct
-removed 20% phys as extra cold on the scepter, along with the 128 mana
-removed 30% cold damage from belt
-made inpulsas a 5 LINK
-removed indigon
-removed some life nodes to bring the level down to 85(life is 5500 still

I feel this is a reasonable level of gear to achieve basically by the time you reach red maps.

If you remove indigon it cuts the damage in half.

With all those simulated gear nerfs it still pushes 1.5 mil DPS on what i would say is pretty entry level gear that will unequivocally annihilate yellows and probably reds.

I'd imagine herald of ice does fine in low maps, but falls off really hard beyond that. It also reserves a ton of mana with supreme ego and essence worm+hatred, so it's really more of a league start thing for stomping easy maps.

Inpulsa would help the clear a lot, but it's still way less explosion damage than the explodey mod (3% phys scales way beyond 5% lightning) and it doesn't self-proliferate and clear entire screens by itself, which is the big appeal of scaling an explodey chest as much as this build does.

Sure, there's ways of making inpulsa work better, like storm's gift, but losing conversion gloves is not great. The explodey mod just works by itself, no effort required.

I'm not sure what the difference in price between an explodey chest and inpulsa usually is on league start in trade softcore, but I'd really recommend just saving up for an explodey chest. Maybe if you league start as BV you can use inpulsa as a stepping stone, but it's your second build or if you're leveling as TR/CA/SA first, I'd recommend waiting until an explodey chest to respec over to BV

Cant really go by harvest prices. in delirium a 0 link splode chest cost as much as a 6 link inpulsa.

the other budget and imo best option to go is asenaths gloves. sure you lose some conversion but for usually less than 100c you can splode 3 screens wide until you can get a splode chest.

Maybe it'd be better to go for corrupted soul now, that's better ehp. Not sure if the es sustain will be enough without leech though...

I just thought about this: doesn't RF make this impractical for ES sustain? RF can always be dropped, but it's a chunk of damage

I... Forgot about that.

Would I rather take 25% more ehp or 40% more damage? Well, My current PoB was doing 19Mil dps (no vaal bv, vaal rf + RF up), so I'll just drop a third of the deeps, who cares.

Now on 13.6 milion dps, with the ability for a 40% more button if I want to sacrifice 20% of my ehp pool.
Both life and es leech, so both should be up all the time.
Arcane cloak to quickly spend 3k mana and proc a long arcane surge, I find this a reliable way to control indigon. Arcane cloak buff itself is kinda whatever. Free socket in helm for the ice dome shit thing, because why not.

Yeah I like that. The large cluster jewel is nice. Corrupted soul is interesting with frost shield, although sigil of power is also a fine option for a bit of free damage and a debuff on bosses.

Explody chests might very well go. This build heavily relies on them, and would not be the same at all without. I plan to play something very similar (altho about 3 times more damage and faster, but less phys resistant).

Also, for starters, I have planned a poison starter. It's very squishy and not suited for HC at all, but easily reaches 5M + dps with 2-3 ex of investment, for the first week. Using the same tree made it challenging obviously, as if I wanted to just spam regrets, I'd play toxic rain.

Beware, it's garbage. The sole purpose of this build is to be "viable" in softcore trade while transitionning to the cold stacking indigon setup.

It's very squishy and has a nasty ramp-up time. But nothing in there will cost more than a few chaos, and you'll deal a few million dps, which is enough for all content if you know what you are doing. Also, cheap poison prolif means you'll clear like an absolute boss on a budget, much better than what a cold setup (without explochest) will achieve early.
If you don't plan on playing 15+ hours per day in the first weekend, I'd HIGHLY recomend not following this.
