The reason you skip it is because slotting another gem does nothing but increase your mana cost.

There's no alternate for smoke mine, but you should only use it on bosses to proc mirage archers

- I don't know where you are getting the idea of withering + cull. But endu urgent is the only setup you can use.

Bad idea from the defensive point of view, imo. If you watched Zizaran's interview with Chris Wilson yesterday, I kinda agree with the assessment - currently build needs block or dodge to not flop in red maps.

Bow builds are pretty bad for building block (rearguard is a crappy quiver), so you have to go dodge, and acro nerfs ES a lot.

Building pure ES no dodge / block will still have you dying even with 10k es.

Building life means you can invest into evasion instead of ES, and dodge too.

There's also problem with stun threshold, maybe unwaveringly evil on cluster is enough, but not sure.

Another problem is using blood rage, it would constantly drain your ES and I reckon there are fewer sources of ES on hit than life on hit, and you can't use life flasks either.

I could maybe see the reason to play CI if it was a poison build with darkscorn - phys taken as chaos on CI is a flat phys damage reduction.

I feel like ES builds are in a really bad spot defensively and are worth playing only in 2 cases: 1) it's a spell build that benefits from lowlife setup with shavs / ivory tower and 2) you're an int stacker and get free ES from that. And maaaybe 3) you're a self-poison build and don't wanna use maw of conquest / watcher's eye, you can go CI.

I'm currently lvl 88 with this build and most stuffs were pretty smooth except I'm dying a lil in high tier maps.

I've followed your progression route in the POB and now I'm supposed to upgrade my toxic rain setup with empower. But rn empower lvl 4 is like 10 ex and I have barely made about 5 ex. Should I still try to buy this gem first? Or skip and upgrade other gears?

i bought empower lvl 3 for 70 c and it helps kinda but i die all the time (ress capped over 100% and even 200%)

I am a noob.

I have a question what to invest in? How to change / progress a build to beat bosses as much as possible. Now the maps on t11 are fairly okay, but the boss is a torment. I play for the standard. Unfortunately, at the moment the budget of 5ex. Could I Get Help? What to invest in first in turn. Unfortunately, there is also no 6L, unless I put on a tabula rase.

There's a progression route you can follow in the guide. The PoB also includes the notes of progression
