What're the advantages/disadvantages of this version versus using divine flesh?

The divine flesh build is inferior to our baseline variant (Immortal call + non-Transcendence) and a degree of magnitude inferior to our armor stacking-Transcendence variant. On the other hand, ours are sophisticated and need to build multiple layers of defense together, while Divine Flesh is simple--just put on a keystone and max chaos resist and call it a day.

@theGreekGod: some upgrades you could look forward to:
+ Hit chance (at least 95%, good: +97%). There're some flat acc rating you can have on: searching eye jewel, ring.
+ Viridian jewels: try to have at least 2 mods: %life, 7% AS for bow.
+ Body chest: craft +120% fortify effect (focus) and augment life (hopefully you'll get what you want).
+ You're over-capping your resist, esp. cold(+155%). I'm myself using Dying Sun (-9% charge used) to cap my fire resist.
+ Quiver: (not immediately mandatory) get a new one, either +25% chaos dot multi and +1 arrow (no dying sun), or +25% chaos dot multi and +18% dot multi (dying sun). Two-point quiver base can be useful in terms of accuracy.

Thanks! I might have underestimated the use of accuracy over 90% and the jewels. Been saving up for some remove/aug life for the armor so that I can hopefully stay at a t3+ roll for a bit :) Also been trying to swap out resist on stuff for chaos res lately, feels like its the only thing that hurts badly atm.

Yeah. the accuracy is often overlooked. Poison build requires to cap both chance to poison on hit and chance to hit. Hopefully you can make some improvement accordingly with the suggestion above. +2 endurance charges is great to have when you doing Transcendence. Also +4% phys damage reduction on the warlord boots is great to have.

Having lower life pool overall as Transcendence isn't that big of a deal except vs. Degen patches. Your eHP is so high that the big red orb's exact number is more of a suggestion than reality.

That said, I've managed to get to 5.8k life with my gear and could opt for 6k+ by shuffling around passives instead of using them on Stupid Shit, but i'm an oaf and stuff.

Also my extremely valuable experimental helm got bricked by a dude doing non-life to life instead of remove/add life, but through gumption and alt-spam I rebuilt it into a usable form of its former glory:

I'm extremely noticing the passive 50% boost to Fortify at all times. This shit rocks.

edit: I've also been experimenting on and off with The Front Line small cluster to get Veteran's Awareness. It makes your gameplay a touch more involved insomuch as not wanting to layer Focus over Molten Shell, but holy shit it's an absolutely insane survivability boost while Shell is running. Free Loreweave + 20% phys reduction for the push of a button is some extremely amounts of passive point #value.

Congratz on bringing your helm back to life @Sandevasfootball.

Veteran's Awareness is indeed a very interesting idea. Just wondering how you would cope with the aftermath effect? Rotate Focus to completely neutralize the side effect or something else?

My thoughts were on Focus rotation, yeah. Either that or just accepting it as a downside while the Molten Shell recharges. 20% more damage taken for 4 seconds is a bit rough, but with enough CDR it's a very tiny window compared to how insanely beefy MS will make you under Transcendence. It's something I'll be messing around with once I finish my helm off with a good life craft.

Edit: another small piece of tech I noticed is that if you aren't using Taste of Hate, splash any amount of cold damage onto your gear somewhere. I have no idea why, but this causes your hits to Chill enemies all the time and is *extremely* noticeable on bosses like Sirus who suddenly do their fights in slow motion.

Thanks a lot for extended answer! I'm already leveling my ranger and going to use your advices for gear building. As for a bow should I use Voltaxic Rift first?

Thegreekgod has given excellent advice. As Darkscorn is pretty cheap, I'd start with it instead.

@thegreekgod: it'd be great to have more life. I'll have a look at your profile when I have a chance.

Thanks for advices! Really appreciate it. However I was already leveling VR version, and after checking both versions of this builds, I decided to give a try version with Voltaxic bow, I was very excited to try this bow. I'll keep update my ranger journey, if it's not bothering anyone :D
Thank you Wolfie for this awesome build! I wanted something with more depth to it after playing some simple builds to start my journey in POE (Zombies, Earthquake, Bladeblast). And this has fit the bill perfectly! And thank you for keeping up with replies, and the others here as well, all of your messages over the last month have proved invaluable!

My gear is kind of at the 'Red Maps' portion of the Progression path but I have moved into the Iron Reflexes and found it to be really great! Currently using Scourge Arrow with Blast Rain - and down the road am intrigued to try the Barrage VF variant too! Now just farming currency for more upgrades - which is kind of new for me - but slowly but surely I'm learning how to make those Exalts rain from the sky!

One little tip that helped me a lot while I've built up my defensive layers is using Knockback Support in Blast Rain instead of Increased Duration. I saw it mentioned in the guide - and its been HUGE for survival - its hilarious to push the boss constantly and he can't even touch you! Very useful! Anyways - super excited to keep on optimizing my gear - tons of room for tweaks and improvements. Love it!
So, hit 96, made the switch to molten shell and...well, rude awakening for sure in that the build doesn't just steamroll everything the way that a BV + vinktar's + old vaal pact Pathfinder could steamroll everything back in Perandus/Essence.

How I thought it worked: molten shell + reduced CD + increased duration = lasts longer than its CD which starts as soon as you use it.

How it *actually* works: there's a 4 second window when it just falls off and goes on CD during which point you're vulnerable, and that's no fun.

Didn't finish maxing the build out (no transcendence setup), but hey, got to 96, so...had fun for 17 days played for the first time since Legion.

So, overall: the build is really, really expensive, and for that level of investment, I expected to steamroll the entire game, no questions asked, the way that my old instant-leech double max block 10k ES maxed-out-crit old BV double dipping poison perandus Pathfinder did, and that just didn't happen.

As for league starting, that was a fairly miserable experience playing a squishball basic archer until I got all the influence crafted gear, the endurance charges going, etc...

Overall: probably a reasonable high-budget option for doing literally everything in the game with effort, but as a league starter, I think it may be better to roll a specialist like a golemancer, nuke bosses while the bossing's profitable, then switch to a build like this to go mapping.

That said, it's still a very good build I think.

I realize you don't have the +120% fortify effect while focus on your chest even though you have an open suffix. Usually MS'CD in our setup is about 2.6-3sec, so if you want you can Focus with the aforementioned chest mod to gain 45%-50% less damage taken from hit with Fortify on top of other defenses. I highly recommend try that and rotate with MS.

Anyway, glad that you have some fun with the build. Cheers mate.
