Can someone please explain to me where the increased effect of fortify is coming from to get to 1.4x

I can only assume that because hardeded scars gives fortify via flask that our flask "effectiveness" is increasing the effect of fortify. Is this correct? :)

Thanks for helping me understand!

You can roll increased fortify on amulet through essence crafting (15%) and crusader influenced head (25%)
Plague Bearer Alternate Quality seems worth socketing from a defensive standpoint even if you never use it after incubating.

10% reduced Chaos Damage taken while Incubating

You are still counted as incubating even at max stacks, right?

Edit: Even with the Divine Flesh nerf does 10% Reduced Chaos make it worth to bring that back in to the build for Heist?

Double edit: With enhance this could go up to 22% reduced chaos?!

Nah, even with the previous divine flesh (10% max chaos res) the difference seemed negligable. Now at 5% max chaos res it would actually cause you to take more damage.

Even with the reduced chaos damage taken from this plague bearer alt 2, damage taken conversion goes to the resistance and doesn't make use of reduced damage taken.

So if I understand correctly

So in the case of 100 chaos damage, if we enhance up to taking 22% reduced we are at 100*.2*.78=15.6

Compared that is nearly the same value of a flat 15 you would get for the previous 85% chaos res.

If you get one of the +3% max CR res nodes as part of your jewel and allocate that, you could get up to an easy-ish 83% max CR, which with the enhance jeweled plague bearer would make that 100 damage into 100*.78*.17 = 13.26 which is actually better than pre-nerf divine flesh.

Unless I'm messing something up procedurally here, it seems like the alt qual plague bearer brings us back almost to nearly the same levels as pre-nerf divine flesh and is worth ~5% max CR at 44% quality.

You need to factor in the less (chaos) damage taken (LDT) as well.
+25% LDT from fortify
+49% LDT from fortify with Focus (assume you have the benchcrafted-mod on chest)
+8% LDT from infused channelling
+75% chaos resist

1) With Plague Bearer (+20% reduced chaos damage taken)
No focus: 0.25 * (1-0.25-0.08) * 0.8 = 13.4% (Chaos damage taken from hits)
With focus: 0.25 * (1-0.49-0.08) * 0.8 = 8.6% (Chaos damage taken from hits)
*Assuming incubating persists at max value of Plague bearer.

*Focus can be bind on left click.

2) Without Plague bearer:
No focus: 0.25 * (1-0.25-0.08) = 16.75% (Chaos damage taken from hits)
With focus: 0.25 * (1-0.49-0.08) = 10.75% (Chaos damage taken from hits)

If you have Windancer, you can have an additional of 20% less damage taken on the first hit.

Example of a chest with Fortify (no need to have all the mod listed)

Would it not be worth the 2 sockets then for the 2-3% it seems to be worth?

It might be worth it for large chaos DoT or in the early game where it's hard to cap chaos resist. The reduced damage from PB can work against chaos DoT while the Fortify only reduces hit damage. I haven't seen large chaos damage DoT/hits as I experienced against Phys/elemental damage though. 75% chaos resist has seemed to be enough for me in Delirium and Harvest. We don't know if it's the same in Heist yet.

So if I understand the wiki correctly, resistance comes after reduced damage.

So in the case of 100 chaos damage, if we enhance up to taking 22% reduced we are at 78 damage*CR of 80% would = 15.6

As far as I know conversion comes before less damage taken (which this build has a lot of for phys and ele).
So you'd end up with 50% converting to chaos which may have 83% res and 15% reduction and 33% less damage taken and the end result is you'd still take more damage total compared to taking it as just ele with 75% res and 6% reduction and 65% less damage taken from flask, fortify and 3 immortal call endurance charges consumed.
That 50% of ele to chaos ends up still meaning more damage you take.

In most builds this would make sense, but in this build the amount of less damage taken on ele is just so high it doesn't make sense to go divine flesh.
Makes more sense to use soul of shakari for high chaos dot encounters.
