I'm not him, but there's the spectre/zombie variant that doesn't use the Golem amulet. It's a bit more expensive and hassle to setup, but I find it a lot better.

I'm just providing a(obviously more expensive) but some min max options. I stack a lot of strength and life so I don't have to take as much life nodes on tree. I have an elder bone helmet with a good enchant still rolling it though.

If I go for the Carrion route, should I remove a gem to use stone golem?

I've been using just the golem setup and almost 5k life now, I haven't dropped in health in couple of days, I don't know how you can use CWDT...

Also altered tree some to accommodate a thread of hope for constitution / reduced mana resv + Leadership! 30%inc aoe +6% effect of aura( and about 2% life regen and 40%mana regen) and double dipping of the Timeless jewel :)

+8 all res +4% chance dodge spell hits (arcanist dominion) you already allocate
+1% max chaos res +14% chaos res (firewalker) 2 nodes away
