[3.15]Archmage Ball Lightning Hierophant, will it work in Expedition?

Not sure yet.

There's a Scion (Inquis/Pathfinder) version that BigDucks has created that uses a Foreboding mana flask with Agnostic and it basically makes the char invulnerable with endless mana and life as long as you literally just constantly spam the Foreboding flask while fighting.

And because you don't have to spec into mana regen at all, there's a lot more flexibility with it.

Here's a PoB: https://pastebin.com/BMEwmxCW

And here's his video guide: https://youtu.be/yJUrv8EwmzI

Now at this moment it still has the 20% additional flat lightning damage on BL and the +4 AOE radius.

But, it leaves open a gem slot for Sigil of Power, so it's quite possible to recoup that loss, but not sure yet. And, the gear (aside from silly explody chest) is pretty generic. It only has 1 large cluster jewel (Thunderstruck), which BD insists is very important for the knockback on BL. And after watching the video, that knockback looks pretty awesome and helpful for defenses as it works on bosses, too.

It should basically be able to do around 300k average BL hit after the patch (and certainly more with Sigil of Power and some gear/jewel/gem refinement), and upwards of 11-12 hits per BL (and likely even 13 on the last 2 spell echos). But, it also has a lot more cast speed than normal, so there is virtually zero animation lock from greater spell echo.

I think he has a league starter guide along with it, too.

So no, I wouldn't say the Archmage BL char is dead. I just think the Heirophant version which needs insane mana regen and requires Righteous Fire is going to have a rough go of it.

The Scion version with Pathfinder allowing for spamming flasks, that doesn't require RF or any mana regen, SHOULD be very viable, however.

Also, Standard server should still be able to make the Heirophant work if you can get ahold of a legacy 100% mana cost Fevered Mind, which allows you to still go Sanctuary of Thought in the ascendancy and much more easily hit the AoE radius threshold. But, this version is going to do quite a lot less DPS than before this patch. Probably upwards of 35% less while mapping and 25% less on bosses. Which, of course, still makes it easily viable, just not so dominating like it was before.

No, it isn't "just" the mana multiplier.

You do realize that BL has a flat lightning damage that ALL MULTIPLIERS are based off, right?

And it's going from 28-533 (280.5 average) down to 22-426 (224 average).

If we hypothetically have +250% of More Multipliers, how do you not realize that 224 * 250% is significantly less than 280.5 * 250%?

That would be 56,000 vs 70,125.

Which is a difference of..... -20%.

Again, how in the world are you being condescending to me about this when all I've done is explain we are losing 20% damage off the top of BL?

That doesn't even include the -4 radius off the AoE.

Remember, "dude", I had to fix you on the 13 max hits vs 20 max hits and explain to you how to use Golden Rule vs Kitava to test it.

You were wrong then and you're wrong now.

But this is an Archamage build! With Archmage/Arcane Cloak you have 4000+ flat added lightning damage! What's the difference between 280+2000 and 224+2000, huh?
Also, it is not YOU, but the OP of that video explained that to me. I appreciated that you give the video, but you do not own the credit.

Edit: If you really can't understand, just lower down the gem level of BL in PoB to match the nerf, and you can compare the real difference.

People were running Archmage Hierophant BL successfully in SSF HC last league. You don't need Watcher's eye to make this build work. The mana will be fine.

If worse come to worst, you also have the option of *gasp* run more than one mana flask. I really don't see it being an issue though.

Did you get an error with your path of building when you try to import the pastebin ?

Hey Aniki!Great build.

I started playing poe at the mid of last league and I am looking towards playing this build in 3.12.
It would be great to have more detail in the leveling process and I am still confused about which gems to use to replace the curse on hit and I believe it was projectile weakness.
Sadly no update till now, guess i have to play something else :-(
