[3.16] Coldslinger | Vortex | Creeping Frost | League Start | SSF | CI/LL
Would the new Trinity support gem be useful in this build at all, or useless?

Hi guys, i would like to try elementalist version. It looks more tanky for me. But could you advise - 500 ES regen is good defence (i'm not sure)? It is with stone golem =)

Love this build, but man "profane bloom" explosions make such a annoying sound.
Same sound of the Oblitaration Wand. |
|
A quick question about the switch from Frenzy to Power Siphon - is the primary motivation the built-in volley on Power Siphon for better AOE application of the linked curses now that the build is focusing on Malediction?
| |
What would be the last thing u grab for ascendancy? would it be malediction
| |
" If you dislike the sound, you will welcome the changes in 3.13 as we can drop Profane Bloom entirely and just get malediction directly. Personally I find it a shame because I adore Profane Bloom and now I need to pick between "objectively stronger" and "a e s t h e t h i c s", lul. @OP, thank you for the indepth build guide. I played a Cold Dot Occultist as a league starter once and was amazed at how well it performed for the investment. The only downside was the somewhat mediocre clearspeed, so I'm looking forward to trying out your variant.
Hi thanks for posting the guide it looks great. I've never used EE before could you explain how it works in the context of this build please i.e is the a specific order you need to cast in to get the benefits?
Linked to this question the trigger a socketed spell wand craft. How do these spells fit in to the playstle with vortex/FB Thank you!
" The main damage skills we use all have a cold damage hit component (which we don't care about), followed by a cold damage over time component (this is what we scale). Using EE means that the initial hit of your damaging skills will give the enemy +25% cold resist, hurting your damage. This is where the spells in the Trigger wand come in. Storm Brand is the notable one for this purpose; as a Brand, it will stick on the enemy and continually pulse out Lightning damage hits. This will constantly proc EE, thus turning the +25% cold resist on enemies from being hit with your Cold spells into -50% cold resist due to being hit with Lightning damage. Since your damage spells have left behind cold damage over time ground effects, they no longer reapply EE themselves (until they are cast again, that is), and thus benefit from the massively reduced enemy cold resist that Storm Brand will constantly refresh. So the idea is * use Power Syphon/Frenzy to proc Frostbolts and Creeping Frost. Enemies gain cold resist from EE * use Vortex to pop the Frostbolts. Enemies still have extra cold resist from EE * as soon as you use Vortex, your wand will trigger Storm Brand. It will attach to an enemy and constantly hit all enemies around with Lightning damage. Enemies now have -50% cold resist and take a lot of extra damage from the Vortex and Creeping Frost you left under the enemies' feet.
Thanks so much for the detailed response. So if I'm understanding this correctly, the wand triggers storm brand automatically when using vortex? (I thought you had to use one of the socketed spells to trigger the other socketed spells if that makes sense).
Also, and sorry for the basic questions, when you say we cast vortex to pop the frostbolts, the gif if you guide shows you stationary while doing this, how does that work if vortex is on left click? Thanks again! |
