[3.10] Gryph's Volatile Dead Necromancer || Fun, Medium Budget, Tanky, Millions of DPS
" I really like the playstyle of this build, but I might have to move on :/ I got the only armor with ES, life, and +offering that was on poe.trade, but I'm still dying to T5 Metamorph bosses. My AG died as well :( Not sure if I'm bad, the league is hard, or what, but for the level of investment I sure do die a ton.
" Hmmm. I rarely even get hit by the bosses (keep my distance and cyclone in big circles around them). That said, you should look at getting a better weapon as that one is doing basically nothing for your damage. Even a cheap Temple modded Fire Damage%+Fire damage to spells scepter would boost your damage by a lot; and when things die faster you don't. :D You can also try implementing: 1c ring or More expensive mod: Put CWDT+Ball Lightning+Combustion+other spell and you'll be recovering tons of life as it will ignite multiple times per enemy. This will save you from everything shy of a one shot basically. If you do that, try taking Ghost Reaver for 2 points to give yourself a really consistent ES leech (up to 20% of your ES per second). This, in a addition to Spirit Offering, will give you a lot more recovery. I would also wait to use the AG if he's dying. It's a pain to remake him. I'm currently not using one (though I will in the future) as I don't have the socket space. Again, kite the bosses. We have no reason to be in melee with them :) Hope this helps! I know it can be hard to get it going but it's definitely worth. :) Edit: You have some tree optimizing that you can do. Take the 1 int node in the northwest section of your tree to connect it at the top. This will let you remove 3 points near your start. Then also remove the Explosive Impact Cluster and all the associated travel nodes. Use these to get Doomcast and, if you do what I outlined above, Ghost Reaver. I've spent a lot of regrets on this build in addition to all the ones available from quests--I know the feels :) Last edited by Gryphenprey on Dec 17, 2019, 12:05:59 AM

Thanks. I managed to craft this but I don't think it's a very large increase in damage when looking at PoB

" That's a pretty nice looking staff ya got there (Even if I prefer block bases). Just having the extra link should be a good DPS boost. Of course if you're going from a 6L Chest to a "6L" staff....maybe not as big of a boost as you want. |
|
i have scolds + doedres + 6 link staff (via CwC staff) but the first spin doesnt proc CWDT, so it doesnt do enough damage. I feel like this really drains on the energy shield, because I get the dmg from the spin, but only the second spin will proc the recovery via spirut offering.
Isnt it supposed to proc the CWDT on every spin? Did i make a mistake somewhere?
Great build so far, I'm just holding right mouse button through red maps and things just fall over.
Couple of questions: How do we support Discipline, Anger and a herald? Right now I'm only running discipline and herald because there's no mana left. And also: What's more important, crafting the staff for a 7 link or keeping the martyr and getting a 6l chest?
" No, you won't proc on the first spin. The idea is to take smaller, but more consistent damage hits from cyclone and proc Spirit Offering as often as possible--up to 4x per second max. Ideally you'll recover more than you take in damage, though this may not always be the case (I'm a corpse generating minimalist...lol). Another source of ES recovery is recommended anyways; be that leech or ES on Hit. " If you feel like damage is fine, just get a 6L chest going (that you can eventually make into your 6L CWDT setup later). Martyr is excellent for defense as well because is has that additional (up to) 16% block chance. For example, I have right now, 73/45 block and spell block with Bone Offering buff going (I use all three). I cannot stress enough how OP this chest mod is with our build--even if you're not using the belt. That said, if you want more damage...get a 7L staff going. I would recommend either a Shaped one with CWC+Spell Crit/10% Chance to get a PC on crit mods OR And Elder Staff with Level 10 PCOC support and the regular mods. There's a +5% Block + 12% Spell Block Elder suffix that's pretty cool. This would let you use the Awakened CWC Support for fast VD proc rates, though PCOC support is not as strong as another support gem, but does come with the convenience of PC generation. Okay why is there a cyclone in your staff i am confused beyond reason...
| |
" I am using CWC+Cyclone these days. :) I started as a self cast build and eventually transitioned away from it in favor of the convenience and mobility of CWC+Cyclone--even if it IS less damage. |

Love the build, got an amazing staff today...
Now its off to Linking :) How happy are you with the new belt? Is it worth it? Last edited by lolepple on Dec 17, 2019, 10:06:16 AM
