Yea, switching to Soul Tether was my plan too if the build turned out too squishy. But then it turned out to be insanely tanky without it, so why bother. I am sitting at 7700 life and 800 ES and have not died once since level 88, now I am almost 96. The only time where is gets close is when I fuck up during an Uber Elder fight. And then it is my own fault for walking into the shaper balls :D
So I much prefer the ton of strength I get from my belt. I would also hate to lose the Avian boost and the reserved mana reduction from Saqawals Nest. Overall I think you sacrifice way too much for way too little gain.
I did not switch. I started the build with the intention to go hybrid because summoner have been all life for a year, and it's boring to keep going the same path.
"Why bother?" It's not about bother or what. It's about playing different build and have a different feel and to learn knowledge along the way. I don't care about dieing or getting to 100 or getting one shot. I am saying that there's another fun way to play this build, and if there's anyone, like myself, is bored with life summoner, they can change their character and still have fun.
Plus We don't "really" need more strength. There's no diff between killing a boss 1 sec and 1.1 sec :P
Hey, I was just saying that there is no need for it, for anyone stumbling onto your comment. Do whatever you have more fun with, it is the goal of the game after all, but your first comment read like you think it is actually "better". If you have more fun like this, my intention was not to take away from it. I just wanted to clarify it for the many newer players in this thread that might have taken your comment the wrong way.
And believe me, 1200 str vs 1800 str makes a huge difference, both in Uber Elder kill speed and overall clear speed.

your profile are closed... but u using this belt with Geofri's Sanctuary?
if y, how much STR and total ES u got??
ty!
yea i just followed those pro players from poe ninja... I always played a summoner as full hp, or CI during the es meta.
So i decided to try hybrid and i saw someone using this belt, and so i decided to give it a try. Damm it is too satisfying...
i have 4800 life with 4000es and just over 1000str for the leech from baron, The over leech is just too op. yr life/es just keep going up lol, the feeling is so damm gd.
Soul Tether is not necessary, but I can can attest that it is really comfortable. Without it, I was still dying from time to time to legion or blight encounters when I wasn't paying attention. Of course these deaths could have been avoided by playing better, but this build has made me lazy :p With Vaal Pact and Soul Tether I can do almost anything and my life never drops.
I mainly wanted to point out that you DON'T need any ES item to make Soul Tether great. Its most important effect is "life leech is not removed on full life" (a consequence from it beeing converted to ES leech). I'm at 7k4 HP and 600 ES (just from the belt), and it's actually better than 4k HP and 4k ES because life leech maximum is based on maximum life, so I'm permanently at 3k7 HP/s instead of 2k HP/s (Vaal Pact -> 40% of maximum life, recovery rate from ascendancy -> 52% which I am rounding to 50%).
So yes you loose a belt that can have tons of strength, and I agree that this is significant. Vaal Pact brings you from 25% of your life per second to 50%, but pathing to it is costly. But that's all, you don't need anything else to have the full slayer overleech experience.
I decided to go with GGGR Triad gloves. Full cold conversion would turn Hatred into something like a 70% more aura (25% phys as extra cold, but also 18% more cold damage, with 40% effect from Generosity it's 35% and 25%, and they multiply each other so that's a final 68.75% more damage).
Also, Elemental Equilibrium is OP. The last red socket looses about 5% dps (at least it still benefits from EE) but I would be starving for gem slots with GGGG. Full white may be better dps with wither, I'm not sure, but I don't want to spend the currency for them just yet.
For the full tankiness route (which even I don't think is needed), Shaper's Touch is definitely bis. Geoffri is good to get started, but if you only have 1000 str, you can find a better rare body armour with more life, maybe a little less ES, but craft 10% life as extra maximum ES. Also, get a Vaal Timeless Jewel with 20% life as extra ES. This one I am planning to get as well because it has very little opportunity cost for me (as I already dropped the nodes that make the Karui jewel great to path to Vaal Pact, otherwise it would be hard to choose between the two jewels).

Interesting. Maybe we can get to like 7000 hp + 4000 ES while leeching 3000/s. With that, pretty much I can play this game with my eyes closed.
