Hello! im fairly new to PoE and i love the Necromancer archetype and "Overlord" summoner playstyle.

Do you think i can add some more minions like Zombies, the new golem and/or skeletons in your build without much change in your passive tree, and still work semi okay? xD

There was a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt going into the necro rework. Then there were the leaks and the piecemeal release of info by GGG. Lots of people went crazy and said spectres are dead (because the full picture wasn't given).

I can guarantee you that spectres are perfectly fine. GGG has rebalanced them to become a lot more accessible now. And while they do have a weaker mid-point, they can scale higher with better gear. We also have new gem interactions to exploit.

As always I will be actively maintaining this build throughout the beginning of the league and there will be a lot of feedback and theorycrafting in the thread. If you decide to follow this build guide, I think you will have a good time.

You could probably squeeze some zombies into a a 4L +2 helm with an animate guardian, meat shield, and the new minion frenzy support for some tanky taunting minions that grant your spectres a DPS boost as well. Should work really well.

The carrion golem doesn't really add much. Might be nice for leveling, though.

If you want another damaging minion, you'll be moving away from the core idea of this particular build, but there are plenty of other builds that do just that. If that is what you're looking for, I'd recommend skeletons as your primary DPS and spectres for map clear. You could either try using a 6L helm for spectres or a staff for more sockets. Something interesting to consider are the new gloves, the Triad Grip, as you can convert all your minions physical damage to an elemental type, so you can trigger EE+exposure and other sources of lowering resist (like curses and frost bomb)

I didnt even think of that.... my bad xD

I did really like ur suggestion of adding zombies tho :D and in the end i think i want Spectres to be my main dudes

btw. dont know if your still on it, but there seems to be something wrong (c&p error ?) in the "RECOMMENDED SPECTRES & GEM LINKS - Slave Drivers" section with the bossing 6-link and the aura (controlled destruction ???)

Looks like the levelling guide broke in an update. The guide is really complex with a lot of linked items, so sometimes it completely breaks :(

Looks like everything from the Equipment shopping list onwards broke completely.


I'm going to revert the build to a previous version to fix this. And re-enter the newer edits. Please bear with me.

This will be my first attempt at this build but I just wanted to say your breakdown in the OP is really, really good. While I don't need all the specific step by steps you provide, those can be crucial to newer players. Thanks for making such a detailed guide. A lot of great info you've provided, can't wait to see how it plays!
