Yup thats the downside of Summoner....the leveling process is quite slow compared to other starter.

You can grab Solar Guards @ Act 8 but those are not that strong till a ceartain gem LVL (Same for Slave Drivers).

Means you play SRS/Skellis/Zombies (And maybe SG Spectres) all the way to maps and level the gem that way...or rush Corners for Conquer spawns to get redemtion sentries.

It wasn't *that* slow actually, because I could still keep moving all the time while my minions are killing things. I reached maps in less than 8 hours, which is a good time for me. Even if I did exactly the same again, I think I can still improve a lot on that time because now I know what I'm doing.

Pick up the sacrifice wheel. Pickup the regen node next to death attunement. Spectres should never die outside boss fights after that. Pickup up the +2 to minions in cruel lab is a must IMHO. Huge jump in DPS and survivability.

I'm quite sure I had Sacrifice, but I didn't have the regen node at DA (I went through the other side). I'll give that a try. Cruel lab is not an option in act 5 yet. But yeah, if the regen isn't enough to keep them alive, maybe I'll switch to Spectres only after cruel lab.

Your spectres should stay alive all the way from lvl28-30ish to endgame with a few exceptions:
1) Dominus Act 3 fight, Minion Phase
2) Piety Act 4 Fight, because of the beam.

In order to make them tanky enough you will need:
1) Indomitable Army, pathing through phys reduction passive
2) Death Attunement, pathing through Minion Damage, Minion Damage and Leech and taking the Minion Life and Life Regeneration right next to Death Attunement

A life flask that grants a portion of recovery to minions can also help, but is not mandatory.

I recommend Flame Sentinels or Stygian Revenants with the following links: Minion Damage, Elemental Focus, Controlled Destruction, Spell Echo; socketed in +1 to level of minion gems Helmet.

P.S. Sacrifice rush is a trap, get Death Attunement and Indomitable Army first.
P.P.S. Holly Flame Totem is huge quality of life, granting a lot of regen through consecrated ground effect

Ahhhh! I did not have Indomitable Army. That might explain it.

Thanks again, everyone! I'll update my leveling notes and try again.

No, all spectres are elemental
I think I'll be dropping Cruel Preparation for specing into Glancing Blows (base build), pick up the first passive beside glancing blows for +2% spell block and not needing to use Rumi's. (HCSSF tactic) This will bump up to max attack block of 75% and spell block of 72% (74% with lvl 25 bone offering).

Debating Mutewind Pennant (shield) to run call to arms (instant warcry) and rallying cry, but the life and res loss sucks :( But instant warcry and onslaught would make it feel smoother for mapping (literally left click the way to victory). I would probably swap out shield for end game bossing as I am not sure taunting an end game boss is safe.
I've played a lot of spectre builds in the past and am excited about doing something new. I am curious about the uniques required for the spider build. Are they prohibitively expensive in the first couple weeks of a new season?

Thanks!

If you really want to do maps with elemental reflection using spectre builds, I think maybe your best bet is Redemption Sentry since their attacks are cold and physical hybrid.
Ran into a wall with going for a full defensive build and the Joy to do it. (that and didnt like last challenge league rewards)

With 3.11, it gives me hope again.

Glancing Blows is Now on the Tree, and its in a very easy to get to spot overall compared to using a timeless. 75% chance to take 50% Dmg from almost every Hit.. then Layer in other defensive options with Minions...

Use the Surrender for around 769HP recovered Per Block

Possibly Increased Duration Enduring Cry for around 2k Regen per Second.
Its easy to get 100% Increased Duration for a 4 Sec Cooldown/4Sec Duration Warcry. 8khp regen over 4 sec ?

Creates Endurance Charges for Immortal Call to.

Hey guys! I've played Kay's SD spectre build for a couple leagues now and since we're in standard purgatory I finally was able to progress enough to get RS. I was wondering, what mapping gem combination would be good for an all around RS build? I really dislike having to switch gems between mapping and getting to the boss. I don't mind doing it for the elderslayers but it feels exhausting doing it for every boss.
This is by far the greatest an most detailed guide I've ever seen. I will use your build for the upcoming league and still got one question.
Can anyone recommend a Loot Filter for Summoner? Or should I just use a regular neversink filter?

I was looking into glancing blows too, but: look at the new skill tree, Arcane Guarding cluster got buffed, and with Bone Offering, Arcane Guarding, Mystic Bulwark and some spell block craft on shield you can get high enough block to not even think about glancing. (5% from craft on shield, 26% from bone offering, 12% from Arcane Guarding, 8% from Mystic bulwark = 51% spell block)

And wiht attack block craft on body armor you can reach pretty good attack block chance as well.

At around 50% block Glancing Blow is no more worth it, and with a bit of investment (i know its way harder in SSF) you can reach max block without huge DPS loss.
