When you enable "Is the enemy Chilled" in the path of building config you will see the difference, because Hypothermia only gives more damage against chilled enemies. Also don't forget to enable "Do you use Frenzy Charges?" option.

FB on 4L gloves is enough. FB single target damage is always going to be sub par

Phlpsun's dead on here. Great build change suggestion. Takes about 30 regrets to rebuild.

Started with SideFX's build by the book. Found that in Yellow/Red maps Bosses and Guardians was super slow and survivability sucked. Including with whirling blades positioning. Just was not satisfying being raped in most late game boss fights.

Swapped to a more HP intensive version of phlpsun's molten strike 6L, with supporting skill gems for MS. This gives me the ability to stand on abyss spawns and most bosses(only dodging one shot spells) with Vaal Pact and wipe them including red maps. Also running Vaal Grace for extra survivability near the end of boss fights/one-shot moments.

Overall was interesting to play frostblades for the first time, its fast on trash clearing but will likely steer clear in future leagues due to above concerns with boss/single target.

Swapping to 4L on gloves for Frost Blade; which do you give up? Orb of Storm set up or Totem set up?

Thanks.

I had that, my mistake is that I had 2 frost blades simulations and when I changed I didn't see because I was loading the wrong one.

DPS diff is not big though, 10k more dps and the need for the enemy to be chilled... if it's not, ice bite is better.

Changing subject... Ruthless is really good dps for this build, oh god now I see how important this is. Ancestral Call is a waste of time even for AOE.

is this better than onigoroshi? I have no clue, I did frostblade with oni and achieved this damage at level 71.

I would change mine for swords as well if I had an Oni-Goroshi.

Thanks for the build.

So Ice Bite or Hypothermia? If you can't chill I think Ice Bite is better, not sure.

Increased Critical Strikes looks good as well.

Just trying to "fix" the single target issues, but that's hard.

With good gear, aka +1 amulet and +2 darkray vectors you should be at 10 frenzy charges. At that point Ice Bite is better than Added Cold.
On top of that if you are rich you can get a double Hatred Watcher's eye. Or a penetration one for bosses.

I changed the build a little to have more defenses (including more freezing). I'm using both added cold and ice bite. But I wanted to know if Hypothermia could be better... using path of building I can't see the damage, probably is hard to calculate. Leveling I don't see difference.

If you check my profile you can see I'm getting basicaly "immortal" with 50% dodge and 50% spell dodge + maximum resists (with the potion) + fortify (yes I'm using this until I get a better 6link with some armor)... so every % on increased damage I can get from gems would be nice.

Immortal until your character doesn't dodge and you get one shot :)
Hi guys,

@Sidefx06 Thanks for making this guide. Really nice work.

I play a raider almost every league and wanted to try ToA FB this time.
After looking at some FB builds for some inspiration I started with this guide as a guideline.

This is by no means a cheap iteration for this build. But can be an inspiration of you have some currencies.

I had some real problems with survivability and switched things around a bit.
Now I have no issues at all. It's not a HC build, that for sure, but I only die to big hits I could have avoided and corrupting blood... Ya, they should make a sound for corrupting like they did with volatiles :D

Anyway, my survivability got a lot better when I tried a 'Perfect Form' chest.
This combined with a Pandamonius and Darkray Vectors makes it so that almost nothing hits me, and when it does, it doesn't oneshot me like before.

For bosses (T16 bosses, red elder and shaper) I swap out AC for Ruthless. The other map bosses are death within one flasks duration with my AC setup anyway.

'Old skool' jewels give me the most dmg and life. And you can snipe really good ones for cheap because everyone seems to think everything besides Abys Jewels isn't worth much.

Yes, that's why i said "immortal" with the quotes hahaha

So far so good, better than the original build tbh, I have more life nodes and more dodges, less damage but dead costs 10% xp, so I'm happy with not dying.

At level 100 I can change that to have more damage, if I die after that doesnt matter.
Hello there

I wanted to try FB for long time ago and this league this was my started build... now I collected some currency and I am wondering which would be the best to upgrade first.. in regards of survivability? I had a 6L belly but wasn't happy with the effect..

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

TLDR:

I would suggest changing Quicksilver for Jade of Reflexes since we are using Whirling Blades for movement and Jade of Reflexes should almost triple your evasion which in my case increases evade chance from 47% to 64%. Or you could go for Stibnite of Reflexes - Stibnite creates smoke cloud which in effect blinds the enemy for 4 secs and reduces their chance to hit and that in my case increases the evade chance from 47% to 54% with the flask up and to 77% with the flask up and when the enemy is blinded. We could speculate endlessly about benefits of each flask and which bosses are more easily blinded. Quicksilver also kinda indirectly increases your dodge chance by making you faster, so there's that :D

Next I would suggest not using Grounding and Heat on flasks since we are immune to elemental ailments with Raider passives and instead using Reflexes mentioned earlier and Warding which makes you immune to curses like Ele Weakness, Vulnerability and Temp Chains.

Taking Phase Acrobatics and using Atziri's Step boots + 2x Vaal Grace and Inc Duration can also greatly boost your dodge chance so that with 75% evade chance and 75% attack and spell dodge chance you effectively have 1-(1-0,75)*(1-0,75) = 93,75% chance to not be hit while your flasks and vaal grace are up.
