Ehm.. you didn't get it, did you?

1,236k (CE) > 1,227k (Combustion)

total dps .. this means for single target and map clearing or whatever.. doesn't matter..numbers are there

Using GMP at golem link? This calcs is for Shaper/Guardian dps? PoB is very good, but at single target boss, all golems projects hit the boss?!

Key is to use 2 Cwdt setups, one LvL 1 Cwdt link with desecrate in it, the other is a Cwdt LvL2 with Offering. This way they proc after each other and it works fine. I'm using the same atm, together with Atziri's Reflection Buckler.

CWDTs have internal cooldown so 2x CWDTs cant trigger at same time. I recommend using lvl 1 & lvl 10 CWDTs to make sure that they don't trigger at same time and cancel each other out. About 10 levels difference seems to be the safe range with white mobs.

Well, you mustn't forget that we usually have 4 Golem and only 3 Spectre (if not using Vis Mortis) so golem DPS has to be multiplied with 4 whereas Spectre's with 3 only. Besides fire res debuff has some diminishing returns I think.

Immolate is the least important skill since it has most cooldown and does the least damage. Flame Wave and Magma Ball is what we should focus on I guess.

I did more accurate calculations and this is what I got from my own char :

COMBUSTION
Golem (Magma Orb) : 4x 214k = 856k DPS
TV : 8x 250k = 2000k DPS
= 2856k DPS

CONC EFFECT
Golem (Magma Orb) : 4x 230k = 920k DPS
TV : 8x 230k = 1840k DPS
= 2760k DPS

Each TV Spec creates at least 2x Totems now, 3x according to the multiple totem support gem. I just swapped comb -> conc and left GMP.

Combustion also gives -20% debuff glovally which is better for party play. However the numbers are still very close, so each setup works fine.

Would you guys recommend straight up buying a +2 SoTL or trying my luck with corruptions because I have been looking for one for the past few days and have not seen one posted in poe.trade :/

The +2 SotL is pretty much min-max item. All bosses are easily doable without it. However if you are already min-maxing I can only speak of my own experience.

Buying

I paid over 100 ex for mine and now prices seem to be around 40 ex. This is much more manageable price and good Watcher's Eye from Uber Elder can earn it at once

Corrupting

Streamer Timmeh519 tried to corrupt the SotL himself and I think he went over 40-50 SotLs before stopping and never getting it. My other guild members corrupted it this league on second try.

I usually go for saving & buying approach, but both work.

Well don't get me wrong: you have to put them into different slots, e.g. Cwdt setup1 into gloves, Cwdt setup2 into Offhand.

Because of the fact that it is lvl 1 on the one and lvl 2 on the other hand, they will proc successively after different amounts of dmg taken.
This is known to work for more than 1 year and is my setup on my Zombiemancer char (see: Zombiemancer 3.5 Guide, => Defense)

Oh, have to admit that I forgot about the new gem with additional totems.
Tho I don't see them cast 3 totems each, do you?
Here are the numbers with 2 totems/Spectre:

CONC EFFECT
Golem (Magma Orb) : 4x 223k = 892k DPS
TV : 6x 160k = 960k DPS
= 1,852k DPS

COMBUSTION
Golem (Magma Orb) : 4x 208k = 832k DPS
TV : 6x 174k = 1,044k DPS
= 1,876k DPS


BUT regarding that:

- you did it with such a negligible difference
- that you are using Vis Mortis with +1 spectre instead of Skin armour with +1 additional level to Golem Link setup (which most players don't)
- you are running +30% ELE DMG support on helmet (which most players don't)
- totem's dmg is on an over-time base it only occurs for really long boss fights

..it comes down to what body armour and Helmet you are using.

What do most people recommend playing this as? I generally love occultist, is the difference huge between necro and occultist when it comes to mapping and bossing in end game?
the general concensus is that Necro is easier to begin with gear wise and better rounded off in terms of survivability and damage

towards the later parts of the game, better gear, occultist provides more stable defenses and slightly less boss damage (slightly)

theres a nice comparison in the FAQ section

Not all of them are the corruption I want, but finally got a full collection of corrupted jewels.


Hit level 100 and well on my way to 40/40, very fun league, and very fun build. Really enjoyed playing the Occultist version, got to 600 delve depth with it.
