[PVP] This is the end... My only friend, the end [PVP]
Gotta be honest, I'm surprised about the negativity towards pvp on this thread, especially from people who go on about how they don't like pvp but bother browsing the thread, mostly Ceri and his/her obnoxious "I don't like it therefore nobody does and it should be removed" kind of thing. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it should be removed, nor does it mean that nobody else dislikes it. If you don't like pvp, then don't gripe about it, avoid it, and you're fine. pve IS the primary focus of PoE, that much is true, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with adding a little something extra for people who want to give the competitive side a try.
pvp does need work for it to be enjoyable because honestly, it's better than the end-game stuff this game offers, the way I see it. Killing mindless mobs and boss enemies does get monotonous at a point, and there needs to be something else, something more enjoyable. As for the ideas suggested in this thread, I still don't know which ones would be good or bad, but pvp really should be innovated further and made more interesting and rewarding in some way, like a new race or some shit, ways to bypass skill abuse and immortibuilds, and tweaks to damage and any sort of "exploits" like AoE shotgunning. A bit of focus on pvp is not going to hurt pve very much, I don't know why everyone seems to have a stick up their ass about it. pve gets a lot of love, certainly more than pvp does, and pvp suffers for it, but pve didnt' suffer much from the pvp-based update as far as I recall. Lavender or Leave.

I'd like to first point out that this thread was first posted in regular feedback, rather than PvP feedback, so this is why a lot of players that hate PvP posted in it.
Currently, there is one major reason why a lot of players hate PvP : Leo. This master is the one reason that PvE players suffer from the presence of PvP in PoE. That master has a set of useful mods that are exclusive to his crafting, plus he sells regrets at a decent rate, so you'll probably want him to be at least level 6, which means 30/40 dailies, which are often a real bother (kill 2 players within 10 secs/win a match with X character). And let's not talk about level 7 or 8, which are simply unattainable without getting heavily invested in PvP or abusing the system or waiting for months/years. Luckily, they don't seem mandatory for any worthwhile trick, but if someone does find an use for them then it's going to become a real hindrance. As for PvP itself, the main issue is that people tend to get trampled very hard when they first enter it. This has multiple reasons : 1) Absence of good matchmaking (good matchmaking is impossible in a game with a low PvP community). 2) A too wide array of possibilities (most PvP games are made so that whatever you get to play with will be sufficient to give you a chance against your opponent, here you can bring a character that is incapable of winning the fight => I was pitched against a level 2 character, once). 3) Nature of PvP (PvP is about acting against another player, it tends to lead players to forget about the enjoyment of the other player. Even when it comes to helping other players, I don't think any PvP player would give away information that gives them the edge). 4) Game design (PoE was entirely made with PvE in mind. This makes some mechanics completely unfit for PvP, like Chaos Inoculation. The very nature of PoE may make a good PvP system impossible to build, or at least very hard. In order to make a good PvP system that is enjoyable for a large community, design may require a huge amount of time, if possible at all.). |

" There's actually a fairly easy solution to that; get 3 accounts, 3 machines that can run PoE to some degree, do your own dailies. Problem solved. The main catch is the 3 PoE-capable machines. And 3 accounts carries plenty of other perks with it. PoE PvP would really benefit from a premades-only bracket to make it more new-player-friendly, though. Putting level 17s who just reached Greust up against fully-kitted 28s with uniques and rares, or to a large extent even the premades, was just a terrible idea from the start. Leo really should be the first introduction to PvP at all unless they make a special 18 or so bracket, because Greust is just way too early and makes a horrible introduction to PvP that clearly turns a lot of people off. Having the Join PvP option on Greust is simply an extremely bad idea. People who don't like the Labyrinth are not a minority: Be heard - say you don't like it in your signature. Don't leave complaining about lab to others - GGG needs to see how many people dislike it. Ascendancy must be gated on true ARPG content, not a poorly-crafted internet Legend of Zelda wannabe.
