So, for the new tree put up, I feel like going all the way for Arcing Blows and Written in Blood seems like a bunch of extra travel.

Comparison: Defense +71% Increased Evasion +5% Life +8% All Res -13% ES Offense +30% Projectile Damage +10% Projectile Speed +3% Attack Speed -10% Lightning Damage -42% Lightning Damage with Weapons -8% Lightning Penetration Also it has some less Strength and Intelligence, So stats could be harder to get, but with the extra defenses, you could drop a 4% life and get a +30 stat if needed
" Most bow builds either don't run its respective reflect map or use poison to avoid the problem in the first place. Since every bow build is a crit build, the 1 time your dodge and evasion fails you the 18% reflect is going to instantly kill you if you shoot an AoE attack into a pack. Reflect is rolled as evasion -> dodge ->apply leech ->apply reflect dmg. So even if you had Vinktar up with VP a crit on a pack will instantly one shot you and there is nothing you can do. Poison builds can do reflect because for phys reflect they equip LA and Dyandian Dawn to deal no phys damage, only chaos and ele. For ele reflect they swap LA for TS to deal only phys and chaos damage. That Hyrri's Ire is a nice buff, combined with the buffed Southbound (50% increased HoI dmg) you will have 3.5 heralds basically. Stuff that can't be frozen can be killed by a totem or golem, since the gloves only prevents you from killing non-frozen mobs. I don't like chests that don't offer defensive stats. Life builds already struggle to get life anyways and maps can roll unlucky and less dodge chance so there is very little benefit to "evasion stacking". You scale Lightning because Wrath guarantees you have more flat lightning damage to scale with than Cold. Also because shock amplifies all your damage, cold doesn't. Now, with 3.5 heralds from the items that would be different but I don't recommend sacrificing that much life. The other point I mentioned is Lightning has higher top end damage even tho the average is same as Cold, so you have potential to crit for way more. Going for all damage I'd suggest Inquisitor cuz you can get insane crit multi with it. Elementalist is also fun for shattering an entire screen. The only other ele bow build I can think of that is not META (but it has never fallen off like windripper) is explosive arrow, it's mainly used to farm "hard" stuff by abusing offscreen. You can also do burning arrow prolif with Xoph's Nurture, that bow is not expensive and the conversion is built in so you are not really "converting" anything. Overall, you don't need to melt Shaper instantly with 10 million dps. Windripper can achieve up to 1 mil single target and about 250k aoe dps with all the right WED rolls. If you wanna push it you can, even prove me wrong cause I gave up on my LL Windripper Inquisitor after the 1st attempt at map. |

" Let me address this so you don't fall into this trap in the future. Those nice life nodes you took are all 4% increased life nodes. They appear to be closer, but the duelist attack speed node (4%) is terribly inefficient and AS is bad for scaling damage in a crit build. The Written in Blood cluster totals to 5% increased life per node, which is the average. As a general rule of thumb, we never take any life or ES nodes that are below average(5% per node for life), especially if they don't offer anything useful in return AND requires bad nodes to path through. This is the same reason most people do not take the 5% ES 10% recharge node near witch, because it's below the average of 6% ES even tho it's right next to the big nodes. 70% increased evasion is useless because of the diminishing return on evasion itself, it barely even adds a couple % of evasion and then you have to think about map mods that reduce evasion. Raw life > evasion Next, you traded a whopping 52% lightning WED and 8% penetration for 30% increased proj damage and 3% AS. First, both WED and proj dmg on the tree are additive, meaning you already lose 24% additive damage. Second, this is the most important part, penetration is a MORE or multiplicative modifier. That 8% penetration is one of the most valuable damage increase you can get. Even if Arcing Blow gave only 8% penetration and no WED, it will still beat 30% increased damage. Also, projectile speed is entirely useless. Int is the hardest to get stat on a bow build and Wrath requires 155 at Lvl 20, so it's important to get as much as you can from the tree so you do not sacrifice suffix on jewelry for it. So in the end you only gained 5% life (which is worth 1 passive point that gets negated by the inefficient 4% AS node) and some insignificant res and evasion, but lost a a lot of damage. Not worth it. Last edited by godlyatheist on Mar 2, 2017, 7:00:45 PM

" Do I understand it correctly that you mean that "does the reflect hit me?" gets calculated once for every attack I make thus oneshotting myself at packs at some point? I thought it gets calculated for every hit seperately, like for one GMP/Pierce attack into a pack: Dodged, Dodged, Reflect hit from 1 mob hit, Leeched full, Dodged, Dodged, Dodged, Dodged, Reflect hit, ... Talking about Southbound: " If I add just a bit fire damage to attacks on gear, will I kill everything then (if I crit) since the ignite will deal with the last remaining HP of the mob/boss? " I never played explosive arrow. Is it good for normal mapping? Meaning good clearspeed and such? I can only imagine that I will shoot at a pack, run past it while I wait for the delay of the explosions, they explode, few mobs left behind, I shoot again, continue, arrows explode, mobs drop something, I have to run back... Or is it not that bad?

" 52% lightning WED is only for lightning, which all depends on how much of your overall damage is lightning, while projectile damage is all damage, not just lightning. The lightning penetration is a multiplier, but it depends on the enemy resistance, and if you curse the res is even lower, and how much penetration we already have, and again, depends on how much of our overall damage is lightning. Written in Blood takes 6 passives to get to, making the life effectively ~3.3%, which is slightly better than spending 4 points on the duelist nodes only getting 3% per point, but the extra AS and evasion make up for the 0.3% per point. Essentially the main difference between whether or not my tree or the tree listed in the build is how much of your damage is lightning, and how much penetration you can get. As mentioned in the post, you can get ~13% from ele weakness, we get 11% all from the new WED nodes, and we can get the 10% from boots, getting 34% penetration for all elements. Now, that's not quite the 40% that he says is good for shaper and guardians, but I wouldn't really use this build to do them, I'd mainly use this build to farm currency and uniques, since you can get all the previous leagues uniques. And depending on your gear, you might have ~50% lightning damage, and the other 50% be a mix of cold, fire, and phys. Having 30% projectile damage in this case would be better than the 52% lightning damage, while the penetration would give more damage in some cases, but for general farming, having some more defenses and a similar amount of damage would be better. Of course, this depends on how much of your overall damage ends up as lightning or not.
" Once you have enough crit multi and AoE into a plus size pack, you will know that evasion and dodge isn't enough. Even at low tier mod of 12% reflect, you will see your HP see-saw. Note that Leech applies BEFORE reflect. After a reflect hit, you will always be at less than full health since reflect is the last thing to happen to you. It doesn't matter if it's rolled individually, your damage will eventually outstrip your leech and when multiple reflect connects you will die. You are assuming the leech from the next mob in the roll will put you back at full health before the next reflect roll hits you. Let's look at it: Leech = 2% from Duelist, unless you increased it with WM curse or allocated more leech nodes. Reflect = 13% lowest tier, 18% max Attack -> Leech_1 -> Reflect_1 -> Leech_2 -> Reflect_2 We start at Reflect_1 since Leech_1 is wasted at full health. Use lightning damage because that's your highest damage source. 13% * 0.25 = 3.25% of the damage dealt reflected back to you with 75% lightning resist Even at the lowest tier, the reflect damage outstrip your leech rate of 2%. At this level the mobs don't have enough health to reflect a significant portion back to you, but your life will be rocked. By the way, this doesn't take into account your elemental penetration, which also works against your own resist, so the damage is even higher. If you used Vinktar, the penetration on it also applies to you even though it gave you +6% max resist. Reflect is especially dangerous as Inquisitor since resist is negated on crit. Eventually, this will happen: you will 1 shot mobs with non stop crit, you AOE into a +40% size pack, sad life as RNG decides you are unlucky. For Southbound, you are correct. The limitation only applies to Hits, so damage over time stuff like ignite and posion can kill the target. Also, totems and minions can kill it too. You have a correct understanding of EA. Shoot the number of EA you think is necessary to kill a pack, then run to the next one and wait for the EA to explode. It can clear very well since the explosion is an AOE and it will overlap. EA explosion is only increased by generic modifiers so people use a fast bow like Quillrain to make it stack really fast then move on to the next pack. EA build typically use Less Duration to make the explosion happen faster. It's not a walking ball of death like Herald Bomber but it's very efficient once you are used to it. Just watch some youtube video on it and you will get a feel for it. |

The Primeval keystone will help a bit with reflect right?
I really hope this build doesn't turn into YET ANOTHER REFLECT PRONE builds that I do in a league where I reach the high 80's, then just keep randomly 1 shotting myself (with full resists, etc) to a RNG reflect pack.. :(. I then ultimately quit. I hope that isn't the case here where we can atleast survive an accidental shot into a reflect pack :( Because I really want to go for max level this league "Good thing they nerfed the carto, it wasn't fun to find one in every map." - Haborym Last edited by monkuar on Mar 2, 2017, 7:54:56 PM

Reflect hits take my penetration into account? Damn I didn't know that, that's awful.
This build just gets more and more terrible the more I look at it.. it frustrates me that I can't find a build that I truly like for this league. Anyways thanks very much for your explainations godlyatheist. |
