[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)

"
yesterday i had the first time corrupted a 4 essence mob.
BUT it was a ele weekness, 79 % more life and 30 attak and movespeed map AND the mob has so much life reggen that i cant kill him. I died 3 times because i cant accept that i had no chance to kill him, because he moved so fast out off my cloud and made frost and fire bolds and jumped on me. so if i go arround him to have a big cloud he allways jumped on me and when i cant shoot a moment he regenerates so fast that i cant kill him.

tried 12 min bevore i give up.

feels verry verry bad man. And i wished i had a wormblaster build :-(((

but it was the first mob i cant kill.

but feels bad :-(((
The other advice you've gotten is very good, just one more thing. I've found that if I pop into Global 820 chat and post for help... especially if it's something related to challenges, like a 4 essence mob, I get *lots* of volunteers to help. I've used that for full clear on maps when finding the last monster was hard, and for help with tough mobs or twinned bosses.

Every bow build I've done, and many other types of characters too, I level with lifesprigs or other +gem wands and spells until 40-70 range depending on build before transitioning. Currently I'm trying split arrow for trash and burning arrow for single target.

That's typically what I do as well.

Leveling with bows is relatively easy. Two options:

* Go the phys route, using the rustic sash recipe until you get Roth's Reach, use that into Death's Harp (and if you want, Death's Opus a few levels later).
* Go the ele route, Storm Cloud all the way (amplifying with auras/heralds, flat damage gems) or switch into Doomfletch then Doomfletch Prism.

With either route, you can L/GMP TShot / LA your way to maps in a 4L, or get a tabula to super ez mode it. The fated versions of the bows aren't necessary, but will buy you extra levels before making the switch, if you so desire.

Blast Rain is probably your best single target option, particularly if you aren't running a tabula.

I tend to level with Caustic Arrow against the better judgement of this thread. It is slow going, but I enjoy the challenge. Plus if it is not your first character, and you have a 4L silverbranch you are good until Merc. Also if you go straigt up from Heart of Oak to the Shadow start you can pick up some extra Chaos nodes while leveling, and respec them for life/Jewels once you get to maps.

Leveling Bows
I was lucky enough to ID all these on my first character's play through.
Hi Guys

I want now make not MF build & I have question.
Witch build is now the most powerfull:(standard & HC).
Especially for shaper, for highest maps bosses with survability.

PS: I'am thinking about siege ballista, Spectralthrow, Puncture Crit Bow & Ancestral Warchief.

Best Regards

I'm playing Ancestral Warchief (more details in spoiler below) and can highly recommend that build. Blade Vortex is also quite powerful and popular. Mathil has a video detailing a fireball elementalist build which is also very nice.

More about Ancestral Warchief
Spoiler

There are several variants of Ancestral Warchief - triple totem, two-hander and facebreaker.

I've tried all three and recommend Berserker Ascendency Ancestral Warchief using facebreakers, a shield and Bringer of Rain. For Shaper you'll want to switch out Bringer of Rain for Abyssus and a 6-link chest (you can get a nice 6-link chest for about 60c using Celestial Justicar Cards and then craft life onto it with a Deafening Essence of Greed).

I'm loosely following the build guide here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1694250/page/1

However, I don't like the passive tree in that guide - I think that leveraging Endurance Charges is the way to go. The referenced guide doesn't invest into Endurance Charges and wastes a bunch of passive points grabbing resists on the tree which could be better used elsewhere (jewels, damage nodes and endurance charges).

My profile is public. Take a look at my character, "Danger_" - this is the tree/equipment which is by some distance much better than any other Ancestral Warchief build I've tried so far.

Note: My perspective is that of a Standard Essence League player - I think that Ancestral Warchief will also fare well in hardcore provided that you use BoR until Shaper.

Shaper is a technical fight requiring dodging and good technique. The longer the fight lasts, the harder it is as you must dodge more and more stuff and the space available to move in gets ever smaller as you pop those void balloons - from this viewpoint, AW Abyssus is nice since the DPS is extremely high. However, if you're hit by the Shaper's attacks you're either in big trouble or you're dead depending on which attack you get hit by. The 40% increased physical damage from Abyssus doesn't help.

On the other hand, you're dead playing just about any other character when Shaper hits you although there are exceptions - extremely high Energy Shield tanks and insane leech builds (worminator).

Hi guys !

This build is awesome , great DPS , a lot of fun , but the most important MAKING A LOT OF CURRENCY !
I stardted this build with almost nothing , now i have decent gear and still saving for more stuff !
Thank you Serleth!
I have some survivability issues , as i started mapping my 57% evasion rate - with grace activate - and acrobatic seems not enough cause im getting hit quit often plus my life pool is small only 3500hp, at this point event trash mob can do a lot of damage, then i was thinking going the iron reflexes nod but not sure..Any tips ??

Also i noticed something about the conc effect gem, her damage seems not applicated to the cloud is that normal or a bug ??

Thanks.

Hi SpiponS, glad you're enjoying the build.

From the first few paragraphs of the OP:

"
For those new to CA, they will not show up on the tooltip chaos damage/s calculation. But they do factor in. So don't be afraid when you slot in conc effect and see no change: it's happening, but it's a known "bug" that it doesn't show up on tooltip.

Your survivability issues are twofold:

a) your flat life isn't very high on most of your gear (which is why I typically don't run Carcass early, easier to get res balanced and thus have higher life on other slots) and
b) you probably just don't have enough life off the tree yet.

This is also a critical reason as to why the Seething flasks are so crucial, particularly as you're still leveling the build: you're able to instantly pot out of most situations.

Acro is fine (and imho better), you just need more levels first to get more life nodes and get a better leather belt with higher (80+) life on the explicit. I would recommend dropping one Andvarius ring temporarily until you can make that adjustment and get a few more levels.

I think that i already toke all or almost all the life nodes in the tree , but im only lvl 78 and still looking for a better gear.
this is my build so far :

I think i will stop mapping and i will finish Act4 then do the labyrinth for the occultist ascendancy so that i can save more for better gear.

thank you Serleth.

You still have 5% from duelist and you can always invest in more from scion life until you get gear upgrades / levels (which add flat life).

The tree I'm running right now takes all of Scion life and finishes around 4900 life at level 91.
