Why Andvarius rings are in the gear setup?

Yes, Ventor's Gamble can be better than Andvarius - but it'll take a well-rolled one. And a well-rolled Ventor's is usually much more expensive than a well-rolled Andvarius.

Use the formula:

W = (1 + IIR/100)*(1 + IIQ/100) to decide whether or not a Ventor's is better than an Andvarius; choose whichever one yields the higher "W" value, but calculate IIR and IIQ using all of your gear.

If you can afford the well-rolled Ventor's, go ahead and purchase it.
===============
One more thing to consider:

The above forumla for W, does not consider currency drops; so, in cases of close calls, favor IIQ (Ventor's) over IIR (Andvarius).
=================
As for why Andvarius versus Ventor's in the gear setup...

I think Serleth wanted to keep this guide friendly for the new player. Over-complicating things such as whether or not to get a well-rolled Ventor's versus an Andvarius may have been perceived to be too much information to initially digest for the aspiring CA player; certainly there are many more important details to focus on.

thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like you're on track. Jungle Valley is basically a DPS check. If you can kill the mobs/boss before they can kill you, you win (chaos resist may help somewhat though).

Mobs that jump on/teleport to you are indeed a pain. Blink away. And maybe your blink clone or golem can take aggro.

If I'm at a point where I think I'm in too much danger from such mobs, I'll drop something for a decoy totem. At low levels the decoy totem is pretty much worthless - it'll die way too quickly. But once it levels a bit, it can be a real boon. It'll take aggro and allow you to get out of harm's way.
======
I haven't played this build since Warbands... so the following may be off.

I'm pretty sure that the Wither totem is mainly for bosses or very stubborn rares. The fact that you're not using it much I think is normal.

So.... just upgraded to a 6-link, what a change!

Crafted this day 2 of the new league. Gonna scour and 6-link in time.

Going to this bow increased my DPS from 12,500 -> 19,500.... what an improvement!

Wake up and find out Hank has quite aptly answered some questions.

Thank you very much, sir.

Just a couple additional notes.

@Kezz: as for those burst damage situations you're struggling with: that's precisely why Seething flasks are critical for this build. You take a few shots and get chunked, but can counter-chunk your way right back up and survive. =)

@Shaj, if you check the FAQ there's a link to a post early on in this thread that goes in depth as to the Ventor's/Andvarius argument. Hank nailed it on the head, I'm trying to keep this guide simple so it's accessible to new players, which means keeping the cost down, which means even a perfect-rolled Andvarius is cheaper (thus, accessible) to the kind of Ventor's roll you would need to equate to the same W value hank mentioned. (I call it C value, keeping in line with this post).

Check the FAQ for the exact reasoning & values, but the short version is the kind of Ventor's roll required to beat out a perfect Andvarius is going to cost a minimum 7ex, compared to the 2-2.5ex a perfect Andvarius goes for.

Loving this build so far. I did stop leveling at 90. But MF is working very well and killed my first Atziri last week. :D Thanks for the great guide and keep it up.

I do solo and groups, why you see 2 IIR gems. And I really dont feel like recoloring that bow. lol.

My gear is not the best but it is working well enough till I can min max stuff and get more health.

Hi,

I just tried Atziri for the first times with this build and I have some questions. I'm level 91 with 4630 life and running grace. The trashes were easy although they took forever to die compared to other trash in maps.

I did it twice. The first time, I died once to the vaal (killed one too fast), twice to the trio (rain then the clouds) and once to Atziri (flameblasts). The second time, I died again to the vaal (same thing), did the trio deathless and then I died for all the remaining portals on Atziri (flameblasts). Seems I simply was lucky the first time.

It seems to me that with a such a gear and a level 91, it should be easier... Am I really that bad ? It feels really squishy and the dps is not great (but maybe I watched too many videos done in high end builds).

Do you have any tips ?

Here is my gear:

Spoiler

Thanks

For now, I'll go back to my maps :(

It's literally just experience. You should be able to do it deathless at your level, with your stats.

The entire run.

It won't be easy to do, hell, I even die sometimes just getting caught out of position but I've done 3-4 deathless runs with 4.5k life.

This is a deathless 2.0 Beta run I did, so the dps was a bit better, and the build wasn't quite finished (hence Purity), but the principles are exactly the same.

Vaals at 3:25
Trio at 5:44
Atziri 8:26

For the Vaal fight it's just a matter of timing the kills so they're almost simultaneous.

For the trio, Tentacles first, Dual striker second, Cycloner last

Atziri, just practice and getting used to the timing of her different skills. The biggest piece of advice here for the main phase is "keep moving," that way when she does target a flameblast on you, by the time it's ready to explode you're already outside of it. For the big ones, quicksilver to the edges.

Compared to other Atziri killer builds, this one requires more skill to get done, you can't just afk the fight. It's about awareness and positioning.

Hej, i have some defensive problems. Im running mid tier maps but i only have 3.3k HP. I dont know where i am missing so much hp compared to others. The only idfference in the skill tree is that i havent gotten to the scion life wheel, but that should not be like 1k hp difference?

your helmet, gloves, belt and necklace can each have about 30-60 more life on them, which adds up to a couple hundreds life on your character.
Another note: your jewels seem really bad considering the rest of your gear. All 4 of them only have 1 desirable affix, you should find jewels with 2 good affixes very cheapily on poe.trade or just spamming some alts. When u have a jewel with 2 good affixes you can regal them to hopefully make an amazing CA jewel.
