There's nothing stopping you from using Perandus/Sadima on PA either.

The only advantage in terms of gearing that going FT provides is that you can 1h + Stormsail for 40% extra IIR.

You can otherwise throw in the exact same combination of gear that FT can, other than Stormsail, down to IIQ and Greed's Embrace or whatever. After that it just depends on how squishy you're willing to be to make up for resistances by either pushing to Charisma/Influence (just like FT typically goes for Sovreignty/Influence) for auras, whether you're willing to drop Empower to BM your PA to aura-cap, etc. etc.

PA can do everything FT can, except cull (and even then you can set up an FT somewhere to cull bosses, if you want). It can even go low-life. I actually built an LL tree for someone in the early stages of this thread.

But the point of this guide isn't to put together a full-tilt MF spec but rather one that can comfortably solo high level maps with good MF values and sacrifice very little in the way of damage or survivability.

FT actually requires a lot more work to get the same clear speed as PA, since you need to go crit FT to match up damage-wise and you're probably only going to end up with about 3.7-4k life with FT compared to the 4.8-5k you can get with PA.

So yeah. It's been accounted for. The comparison just assumes you're going to go for a similar balance between dps, life, res, and MF.

The only time you "require less gear" for FT to achieve that balance is if you're a culler and you're getting carried dps-wise in a party. Which is implied as a culler spec.

well you kinda need a lot more resist from gearthan a FT build...
which is why sadima and perandus belt become a bit unavailable on your build... you need those resist from belt+glove

Replacing your belt for a perandus is not really worth it. You can however replace your gloves with some sadima's and still get capped res. I have recently changed my gloves to a pair of Legacy Sadima's and had to just upgrade my belt for a little more res while adding fire res to my bow (Only temp till I move over to jewel based passive tree) 1 jewel for +12% fire res to finish it off. (Check my gear on page 177)

All my gear is also bought from anyone that is online at that given time and better gear can be found if you don't mind waiting for people to login at some point in the day. (I bought everything with the currency I made from this character as it's my only char atm with about 4 day's /played some of which was long afk's in town selling stuff)

Atm I have 54% IIQ and Just over 200 IIR. I was thinking that when I go over to the jewel passive I might just use them mainly to cap res with some damage and try switch out my helm and amulet to try hit that 100IIQ/300IIR once I get a 6L bow with iLvl 64.

I'm loving this build and like trying to push it a little to my personal liking.

For solo play, you need the resists just as much for either setup.

not really since a FT build can get lots more resist from the tree
also flame totem can tank more while u sit back and never get hit

a) Cloth & Chain? Survivalist? Sentinel? Scion Res? Compare that to Cruel Preparation and Elementalist, and maybe Barbarism. That's 50% all res versus 23% all res + a bit extra to fire. It's significantly easier to get res off tree for PA unless you're going BM and heading fully into mara.
b) That means nothing in higher level maps where all it takes is one hit and getting caught out of position. Given that FT typically runs about 1k lower life... yeah.

Soul Taker drop :)

(Before Bino, Drillneck, Devoto's, ...)

Best build ever.
Amazed to see so many people get gg drops. Eng hasn't blessed me yet. But I still grind on.

Anyhow serleth could you be kind enough to go through my gear and advice next upgrade ? Since the last time I have invested a little in getting more life and some jewels. I just want to know if drillneck is what I should go for next. Since I don't want to break the bank (since no results yet )

Edit : char name fakesaruman

Sure but you'll either have to post your gear here (please include jewels) or go to your profile > privacy settings and uncheck the "hide characters" radio box.

done
Yeah Drillneck's your next upgrade. The rest is just min-max stuff. Improving the IIR and life on helm, getting a gold amulet with similar rolls, leather belt with similar rolls, getting jewels with 3+ stats that benefit you, etc.
