[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)
Any tips for converting this into a slightly more party orientated build?

I am some desperate need of fixing my gear to make this build viable.
I am using a blue bow for the +2 to bow gems and my dps is 624. What should I do right away to make this build decent. I am 64 and can't progress period atm. My lack of knowledge in this game is really setting me back so trying to figure out what I can do. here is my current gear and talent tree. https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwIAAF4A7gMeBiMILgzyD6sVIBa_GYoZjhm0G8gfQSSLJpUqTSpbLOktgzWSNj064T8nQzZHBkkTSshS7FVLVYVh4mKsZU1sjG1sbqp1y3aCefZ9dYJeguSJ4IqvkBGTH5cGm42dqqEiokCly6ZXtMW00bXyu-O9Nr6nwuzDOsSiyAzQ0NN-2L3b5-OE5ljqYu2D73ryRfT49qP-Cv66 Thanks in advance. | |
So since we're on the topic of the PA gem I wanted to ask some questions.
I've got 7 Gems ready to hit level 20. My question is what should I do? The obvious options are; 1. Vaal them until you get a level 21 gem. Which could possibly brick them all, loosing out on a lot of time spent. 2.) GPC recipe them to 20% and start the leveling process over. This is the more lucrative option as even if you brick them they are still worth something. Obviously I wouldn't GPC recipe the PA I am using. Which leads me to #2-a 2.a) GPC recipe 6 gems. Vaal the Gem I am using. Worst case scenario is I get a level 19 gem that I need to level to 20 again. Meanwhile the other 6 are cooking in my swap. I feel that #2.a is the safest option. I've only Vaal'd two gems in my career, both Arc, both bricked to Vaal Arc. Obviously that's not a concern here but I don't know the ratio of getting +1 out of a Vaaling. Is there any data on this floating around? I looked but was unable to find any results outside of a few gems at a time. Also, if I went with 2.a I could also drop 20 GPC's on the PA I am using, but is it really worth it? I've already dropped 20 on my Empower, it would be nice to actually sell GPC's to help get Drillneck (next item on my list). I don't have a Carcass Jack. I am using Item Rarity over INC AoE also. So I am used to the small AoE. I know that getting that gem to level 21 ASAP is a huge DPS boost. However lets say it takes three Vaal orbs to get that 21/0 Gem. That leaves you with only four shots at the 21/20 Vaal Orb. So is it worth it? I feel that having 6-7 Chances at a finished gem is more cost/time effective than attempting a half finished gem. What is the general consensus here? Blood Rage Update Getting back to my test on Blood Rage from a few days ago. I stated I would go one day without using Blood Rage and relying on Frenzy only to produce charges. This lasted all of 30 minutes. I just don't see dropping Blood Rage as a viable option, for me at least. It's just too convenient to sustain charges without having to rely 100% on Frenzy. I feel one or the other isn't all that great. However, in tandem they are amazing. Just don't use Blood Rage on Vulnerability cursed maps or negative regen maps. Rubicon mentioned he had an issue with having to constantly pot to stay alive. I've not had this issue what so ever. I think the Blood Siphon node helps out more than people realize. Just make sure you have the three life Regen Nodes - Heart of Oak, Golem's Blood, and Master of the Arena. That's 3.6% Life Regen, which in turn makes it so you're only degening .4% life per second, which should be covered by Blood Siphon. /shrug like I said, I haven't had an issue here. Again with Vulnerability and negative regen maps, you need to avoid using Blood Rage. You could also use Enduring Cry over Rallying Cry, though I don't recommend it. Mana Regen Update So we were talking about Mana regen, and how much we actually need to sustain this build so I decided to mess around with it. I am down to a level 3 Clarity, Purity of Elements, and Grace. No issues with sustaining mana. Even a level 1 Clarity was working out, though not optimal in the slightest. level 1 to 2 is a big boost for small increase of reserved mana. Stats; Mana Regen per second is 46.3 - without Rallying Cry active Attacks per Second is 1.98 (Grove Bow) I can stand and hold right click down and get off 12 shots before she starts tossing a random arrow in with PA. This is a 5 link with Item Rarity and not INC AoE. With INC AoE subbed in I get about 6-7 shots before a random arrow is shot in with PA. Obviously you would not be shooting like this in a map so, my point is mana is a non-issue. Not to mention you want to keep Rallying Cry up for the damage buff, which in turn ups your mana regen. The only difference between my build and Serleth's is the nodes Druidic Rite and Primal Spirit along with the two connecting nodes. I've also dropped Soul Siphon, along with its connecting node. I have Goldwyrm Boots and the Charisma Cluster. No other Mana or Mana Regen on any other gear. Currently sitting at 169 mana unreserved at level 86. Once I get my resists totally squared away I will drop Purity of Elements to have even more mana available. The only reason I am not leveling my Clarity from level 3 is due to Flame Golem. He currently costs 147 mana @ level 19 to summon. His links are Minion Life, Minion Resists, and Minion Speed. Minion Speed is temporary, I will be dropping it once it hits level 20. Without it he only costs 105 mana to summon. I have some gem rearranging to do once i get Carcass Jack. Obviously this isn't a definitive result for mana regen, but it's a nice overview too see what's possible. I'm interested to hear how other players are fairing with mana regen. Anyway what started out as a question, ended in a book, sorry. Last edited by TirpitzLuminare on Jul 30, 2015, 2:44:33 PM

" I fucking did it! Scoured the +1, alt-spammed to +2, augmented 41% fire res and then regaled +1 :D Christmas day mid summer :) Last edited by Irongunner on Jul 30, 2015, 2:23:47 PM

" Short version is they only consume 10 charges per use. There is a more in depth explanation buried someplace in this thread. Last edited by TirpitzLuminare on Jul 30, 2015, 2:46:13 PM

" Your DPS is not 624, you need to look at the Chaos Damage per second while hovering over the PA icon on your toolbar. It's the first line. Are you using PA or Tornado Shot? I'm assuming you are using PA since your bow isn't viable for Tornado Shot. First off get Vulnerability, this will increase your cloud damage by leaps and bounds. Get a Frenzy + Curse on Hit + Vulnerability setup going. Once you get Golem's Blood and Master of the Arena, start using Blood Rage. For the Skill Tree, drop the pierce node cluster. This only is a DPS increase if you have Drillneck, which you don't. Instead use those points to get the Corruption Cluster to scale your PA damage more. Empower does nothing for your PA currently, it needs to be level 2. Drop it and use INC AOE or Faster Projectiles. Level Empower on a weapon swap. Get some Auras going, Clarity, Purity's. Also, your PA gem is a little low for being character level 64. consider buying a level appropriate one from poe.trade. Re-read through the original post for more in depth information on gem setup. You kind of seem to be all over the place with your gems. That's all I got. Hope it helps. Last edited by TirpitzLuminare on Jul 30, 2015, 3:09:22 PM

" You can't use PA in parties, if you want to MF with it. Since degen skills don't cull. It really isn't party oriented. If you want to go party, you need to drop everything DoT related and get a high pdps thicket or harbinger (non-crit or crit respectively) and do something like SA cull chain. " Your dps isn't seen in the normal tooltip spot.
Spoiler
"15,789 chaos damage per second." That's the number that you're looking at. Use CE instead of IIR. And Empower level 1 isn't functioning for you in a +2 bow. You need a +1 all gems roll in order to push Empower to level 2, at which point it actually impacts PA damage. In short, read Turpitz's reply, he's got it covered. Thanks buddy. =) " https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1291803/page/46#p10962581 I'm just going to put this in the FAQ. ____ @Irongunner: well done, man. Congratz. " This is what I do, for what it's worth: * Keep one unvaaled, and 20% it, as a reserve gem, if necessary. * Vaal until 21. If it hits, use the 21/0, vaal the 20/20. * If it misses, use the 20/20. Don't vaal it. * GCP recipe afterwards, re-level. Then vaal as they hit 20/20. " Now that I've got my bow 6L'd, I'm doing both as well. I preferred BR to the CoH setup, when comparing them directly, but doing both is just outstanding. As for the rest, just want to say thanks for your feedback, Turpitz. Glad your setup's working well for you. =) Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018. Last edited by Serleth on Jul 30, 2015, 3:11:59 PM

Hello, thanks for the guide for starting.
I'm pretty new to the game so I'm sure it's a dumb question but here it goes; I'm currently level 62 with all intellect on your tree is taken but I got only 90 int and its mostly not enough for the gear I'm trying to use. How can I solve this issue, what am I missing ? Thanks! Last edited by Wineaux on Jul 30, 2015, 3:17:34 PM

" Just that. Then the nodes off the tree. 127 intelligence. Enough for level 20 CE and AoE, which is the important thing. Jul 27, 2011 - Sept 30, 2018.
