GGGs reasoning on not making a SFL?
" Again that makes no sense at all. A self found player in the game currently isn't going to get more than mediocre rares without playing for literally thousands and thousands of hours, so asking for the devs to make a balanced self found experience has absolutely nothing to do with hurr durrr "wanting things handed to you". " No, no no. SFL is no about having things given to players. It's about taking things away from other players - ie Trade. I know there are players who are afraid of how tough SFL will be, but they can play easy mode just like they are used to ;-) PoE Origins - Piety's story http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081910

" I would love a no trade league with the same drop rates. Count me in. |

" Ignorance one on one right here. What is more "handed to the players", trading for EXACTLY what you want, when you need it on XYZ (after grinding 10 hours chaos recipe), or grinding 100 hours high level content in HOPE of finding what you want? My beliefe in humanity gets smaller every day, when people seriously think a SFL will be easier than a trade-to-win league. As of now, PoE is exactly what people hated about D3: Farmfest for currency, to hit the AH (XYZ). Some try to convince me that XYZ isn't an AH, ok, maybe not, but the three sentences exchange by two players doesn't make a big difference. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Most people that want SFL really want a CRAFTING league. Its such bullshit that all the crafting items are the currency too. Theres almost no reason to EVER use an exalt, as 99 of 100 is just going to brick an item.

" You can play hardcore without a league as well. Your argument is just inconsistent with the current game and doesn't make sense. " I would report this if I was on a computer that would complete the process. Standard Forever

"I have no problem with this either. Actually, if I was in charge of which leagues are offered in the game, I'd offer four, but a different four (where "vanilla" means standard ruleset and "challenge" means rotating mods):
For some reason, however, a softcore and/or permanent SFL just doesn't seem like a good idea to me, even with the understanding that drop rates should not be increased. With softcore, it seems that the added difficulty of hardcore is simply a more natural and honest means of increasing difficulty than prohibiting trade. With permanent, it just seems to me that the highest levels of permanent-character play would just be inherently broken in a self-found setting. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

" Hell, yes! I'd be an awful (but happy) participant and an interested leaderboard and stream observer! |

" Didnt think i would be able to agree with someone in this thread. I think the idea of having no gold is good however the orbs being the sole currency as well as for crafting makes it impossible for some to ever use orbs like ex, fusings to 5/6/S/L, mirrors, divines and a few others. I only ever found enough or got easy enough some chaos, alch, trans, alt, chroms, jewls. I love crafting but i dont want to run to the trade chat everytime i run out of chromes and for one thing, i dont have anything to trade for anyways. The items i find go to my chars and whats not for them goes to the vendor. That being said, if there was a 1 week to 4 week race of some kind where orb drops would be increased a lot i would play it for the sake of being able to craft something even at lower lvls kinda like how we already did in some races only that they were too short to make it worthwhile. Im not for a permanent league however and im not for SFL. |
