Holy Flame Totem

Hello,

Are there any plans on increasing the damage effectiveness of Flame Totem by the amount at which the cast speed was reduced? So 200/80 = 2.5 times more effectiveness, bringing it up to 25% damage effectiveness so people who use Added Lightning, Chaos or Cold do not get screwed over?

Also, are there any plans on reducing the base mana cost of the totem? It gets fairly ridiculous in a 6L.

Could be that they just haven't updated the damage effectiveness on the description. I tried Added Chaos Damage and the damage is much higher than it used to be. If it stayed at 20% effectiveness the chaos damage component on my Flame Totem would've stayed the same, I think.

It was increased to 20%, no? It used to be 10%. I'm talking about the extra 5%. But maybe it's not as important considering the changes to overall dps.

The main thing with flame totem is the mana cost: a proper 6L flame totem will cost over 300 mana PER totem. Whereas an Incinerate totem will cost like 40 to 50 mana. And their dps will be pretty much the same with Incinerate being much higher in extended fights.

Never mind I was under the impression that Flame Totem always had 20% effectiveness (and was increased further with this patch). Yeah it was increased from 10% to 20%.
I agree that the effectiveness should be adjusted according to the lower speed/bigger hits change though.

Is this in general a buff to or a nerf to flame totem?

I like the fire way more then the incinerate. But tbh, the mana costs are insane high if you 5 or even 6 link it. Without eldrich battey its a pain to sustain.

New flame totem is ridicously strong compared to classic spell totem support.
I run flame totem + lmp + faster proj + added chaos dmg + faster cast + mine
The mine somewhat tripples the damage (dual totem mine build). that goes to added chaos dmg as well. All in all totems average damage is about 330 while 9 casts per second - final dps is about 3k.
While strongest spell totem build is arc totem for me. It is still about 1k dps (does not count arc's chain effect, which surely boosts the final dps).

I'm running flame totem in a 5L with GMP, faster projectiles, faster casting, and added lightning, and am doing 1k tooltip dps without the shockstacks factored in. Anything getting shotgunned by even one of them dies very fast.

i'm wondering if flame totem scales from passive tree and gear (elem damage, spell damage, fire damage) ? I guess it doesn't but i'm not sure about that

I'm quite a bit confused what kind of support is working with totems and what doesn't.
As far as i understood it works with faster casting AND faster projectiles, so is it a spell or an attack ?
If i use a wand with 100% increased critical strike chance for spells, my totem now got 8% crit or it doesn't work at all ?(same for spell damage on wands)
If i got +xx % fire dam on my wand, this works too ?

Flame totem uses a spell which is fire damage and projectile damage. That answers the confusion of everything you mentioned.
